Monty is a great name for a great dog like me ;) I have the Monty Python kind of humor... goofy and sweet! But, don't mess with my crate! That really is my only "pet: peeve!! I was found on the streets 2 years ago and was adopted as a pup... however, I became the boss in the house and didn't like anyone entering the house that I didn't know :( SO..... Back to the rescue, because they won't give up on me!! So here I am and I have really adjusted to the environment and new people meeting me and treats and lots of love. AND the crew here basically has determined that I need a family/adopters that will be in charge of the house. Someone I can trust to protect me so I don't have to!! I am vocal in my crate, so my crate needs to be away from the common areas so I can relax and not meet everyone that stops by. Once I settle into my new home I will follow your lead! I am a gorgeous boy, with caramel and milk chocolate highlights in my soft fur. I want to please my family and go on all kinds of adventures! I am awesome out and about, meeting new people and new friends :D I hope you will look into my eyes, the windows to my soul, and see the HOPE I have to find my own home again! The rescue is great because I got a second chance, but I REALLY want a home!! Local adoption only $200 (in TX)

**Please note this is pet is currently out of town pet but we will transport this pet to Portland for you when adopted. All fees listed include transport fees.** Meet Copper! Copper is a very sweet, playful guy! He is around 4 years old, and at his last vet visit weighed in at 60 pounds. We think Copper probably has some Australian Shepherd, along with several other breeds including possibly Belgian Shepherd, Greyhound or Carolina dog. Copper is a beautiful and happy boy. He’s lucky to be alive! Copper came to us from the shelter at a time when he was minutes from losing his life because he had an upper respiratory infection. We are so glad he is with us now, and he is in a training program getting ready for his forever home! Copper does well in a crate, he also does well on a leash. Copper would love to be a hiking or running buddy! His foster mom said he is doing well at learning house training. Copper loves to play with his doggy friends especially tug-of-war with the big rope toys and will do wonderful at a daycare or dog park with other active and playful dogs! This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. I’m two years old and I'm thought to be an Australian Cattle Dog and Pit Bull Terrier mix, weighing in at 46 lbs. of pure love, zoomies, and main-character energy. If you’re looking for a dog who’s down to get out and do things, I’m your guy. When it comes to other dogs, I’m a friendly dude, but first impressions matter. I do best with dogs who are social and easygoing when we meet. If a dog comes in too reactive or intense, I don’t really know what to do with that energy, especially since I can’t hear them. But give me a fun, playful friend and I’m all in. Cats are still a mystery to me. I’ve never met one, so slow and proper introductions would be the way to go. Keeping things calm and respectful will set everyone up for success. I’d do best in a home without kids as I'm working on meeting new people and I thrive in a calm and predictable environment. That means no sneaking up on me and giving me space when I need it. In return, I’ll give you all the love, loyalty, and goofy moments you could ever want. I’m looking for a home that understands me, wants an active, and loving companion. Someone who is patient, consistent, and ready to build a strong bond with me. I'm working on leash reactivity, especially when transitioning into a new environment/home; therefore, a home with a backyard where I can practice on leash is ideal and I'll absolutely benefit from ongoing training and behavioral support.
