I love my foster's dog. - I get along great with cats too! - I am working on potty manners. I prefer privacy, so I may sneak away in the house to do my business. - I am a good girl for bath time. My thick coat will need consistent grooming - I am working on my leash skills but they are fast improving! If I have a little panic, a soft voice and some clucking/kissing help me move along - I loveeee being outside. It’s where I used to live! I love to run around and roll in the leaves. I would love somewhere secure where I could run and play! - I also loveeee a comfy place to rest. Dog beds and the couch are my favorite! - I use my crate as my safe space, and will go in and out as I please. If you put me in my crate and I can’t see you, I will take about 10 minutes to settle. If you put me in my crate and leave right away, I settle just fine! - I also do a lot better if my crate is in the room where the humans are sleeping at night. - In fact, I love being around my humans or other dogs. I am not a big fan of being alone - My foster mom says my personality is perfect. I'm a total cuddler, but also spunky - I am lacking confidence, but I want to please my person! Copper previously lived with another dog and was very attached to him. KNOWN WITH CATS: Unknown. Can be tested if needed. KNOWN WITH KIDS: Would likely get along well with them, because he is so sweet and docile. Because he can be high-energy and excitable, and has occasionally jumped up to say hi to new friends, however, he is probably better suited to a home without very small children. KNOWN COMMANDS: Has recently learned “sit”, “come”, “lie down”, “no”, “go to your bed”, and is working on mastering these. KNOWN HOUSEBREAKING AND/OR CRATING: Had a few minor accidents within the first 24 hours of being in his new foster home but has not had one since. Working on crate training. KNOWN LIKES: Playing with all his squeaky toys and carrying them around the house; doing anything outdoors - long walks, games of fetch in the yard, chasing squirrels, saying hi to people and dogs on his daily walks; and getting lots of cuddles and kisses from his humans. KNOWN DISLIKES: Being left alone. Copper is a true Velcro dog who loves to be near his people at all times. When confined and not able to see his humans, he experiences separation anxiety. Notes from the foster: Copper is the sweetest, most gentle cuddle bug who loves to be around his people 24/7. He is active and energetic outdoors (the ultimate exercise and hiking buddy!) and a relaxed couch potato who loves getting hugs and pets when he’s indoors. He’s very patient and tolerant when being handled - i.e getting carried into a bath, having his ears cleaned and paws touched. He is also a super smart boy who loves Learning and is very eager to please. His biggest challenge in his new foster home is overcoming his fear of being left alone (which is the only time he has barked/whined.) Charlie is a good dog who got a bad start. We have no knowledge of his history and where he came from, but we are pretty sure he has not lived in a house with people. When he first came to us, he hid from the dishwasher, barked at the television and ran away when first presented with stuffed toys. He remains easily spooked by noise, but is improving – getting used to the dishwasher, the television, the stuffed dog toys and other day-to-day items in the house. Physically, he was in pretty bad condition - He was positive for tick illnesses (we gave him Doxy and he is doing bettter now), his coat and skin were in horrible condition (we've given him good nutrition and he's looking a lot better), his teeth were Grade 3 dental disease (we gave him a dental and they are all clean now)! Charlie weighs about 63 lbs. Charlie is a quick learner, and is adapting to life in a home with his foster collie sister. He is learning commands and is starting to recognize his name. We do not crate him, but leave it open and he often sleeps in there. He is respectful of the house and items in it, and does not jump on the furniture. He is very cooperative - He pretty much will stand still for almost anything if you ask him to especially if you scratch him – he loves to be scratched. He grooms well, and is very affectionate. His fur is growing in nicely since he needed to have some extensive matting shaved. He’s very focused on understanding and fitting into his new environment. He watches intensely and you can see the wheels turning as he tries to figure it all out. He is interested in other dogs and people, and has shown no aggression toward either – but he will bark in the backyard at passing people (and squirrels) with his sister, who loves to do that. He has shown interest in playing with other dogs, though we have not yet allowed that. Charlie is quite smart and very eager to please. We estimate his age to be about 6 years old. Bandit was adopted from our rescue as a pup and was sadly brought back because his adopter was having a baby and unable to care for him. He is a loving boy who is used to lots of room to run and play. He loves the outdoors, making him a wonderful camping/hiking partner. He has been raised around kids, but because he is a cattledog, he may try to nip them. He means no harm; it's just his breed. Bandit is housebroken and crate trained according to his previous family.
