Story
Gertie doesn’t know you yet, but she likes you! Gertie is retired and looking for a great place to nap with people who know hounds and will give hugs! Her previous owner says she is spayed. She is getting much better with her leash and gives to its pressure. Things to consider: Gertie is a hound. She will lend chase to critters that run. Watch her with chickens and cats! Gertie loves to speak her mind but settles down immediately with love. Check out our Rumble page: LeroysRanchHands www.leroysranchhands.com

Story
Trapper is a 2-year-old coonhound mix with a big heart, an even bigger personality, and a nose that never quits. He absolutely loves people and gets along great with other dogs, though he does enjoy rough-and-tumble play with his canine friends—so a dog who matches his play style would be ideal. With people, Trapper is all sweetness and affection. He thrives on attention and bonds quickly, always happy to lean in for love after a good play session. True to his hound roots, Trapper follows his nose wherever it leads and would do best with an adopter who understands hounds and enjoys providing enrichment, adventure, and mental stimulation. Trapper is looking for an active home that can match his energy, appreciate his houndy ways, and give him the outlet he needs to be his best self. In return, he’ll offer endless love, fun, and loyal companionship. Trapper is in our Mutts with Manners in facility training program. This program to give our long-term residents more enrichment and a chance to truly shine outside the shelter—showing who they are beyond the cards that they have been dealt. Trapper is a bronze star meaning he knows the basic commands but still needs work in mastering them!

Story
Skip is the derpiest little love bug you’ll ever meet—this boy radiates pure serotonin from the moment he wakes up. Despite having tendon laxity from being confined early in life, Skip has made incredible progress through proper nutrition and physical therapy and continues to thrive. He may surprise you with how agile he is! Skip can hop onto furniture, manage stairs, zoom around the yard with his puppy pals, and his  favorite, the standing hug. He enjoys short walks on grass and softer surfaces, though abrasive surfaces like concrete are difficult as it causes abrasions from how his legs break over to the side. In foster care, Skip has lived with several adult dogs and has been the very best “uncle” to multiple litters of puppies. He adores puppies and high-energy dogs and plays hard—something that’s been fantastic therapy for both his body and his spirit. While his hound voice makes an appearance during playtime, he’s otherwise non-reactive and easygoing. When playtime is over, Skip is all about snuggles and cozy naps. At 1 year old, he’s fully potty trained. Long periods in a crate are difficult on his body but he does well when left unsupervised in the home. Skip will likely need some level of lifelong joint and tendon support, but he’s currently doing very well and has a positive prognosis. He’s a joyful, affectionate, resilient young dog looking for a home that will continue cheering him on—and soaking up all the love he has to give.
