Story
Meet Dixie Chick This lovely 6-8-year-old coonhound is the definition of sweet southern charm! Dixie Chick was rescued from a high-kill shelter on her “last day,” and she’s been thankful for every cozy couch nap since. Dixie is a gentle soul who loves her stuffed animals — she treats them like her babies and keeps them close at all times. While she’s mostly a laid-back lady, her hound nose can still get her going when she catches a good scent! She’s crate trained and settles down quickly after a few minutes of letting you know she’s there (classic hound behavior!). She even sleeps peacefully through the night in her crate. We do recommend crating her when you’re away — if she smells something tasty, she’ll go on a little “treasure hunt.” Like many older dogs, Dixie occasionally has pee accidents if she isn’t let out in time, but she’s doing her best. This sweet girl is just looking for a loving home where she can snooze on the couch, snuggle her stuffies, and enjoy her golden years feeling safe and adored. Before emailing- please read: - Yes, this dog is available for adoption - Apply at c2cnd.org - The adoption fee covers their age appropriate shots, microchip, deworming, spay/neuter, and any other medical expenses while in our care. - Local adopters only. Due to our thorough adoption process including home visits, we limit our adoptions to local families in the greater Charlotte area. - If you have any additional questions, email us at dogs@c2cnd.org and we will respond as soon as possible

Story
Trapper is a 2-year-old coonhound mix with a big heart, an even bigger personality, and a nose that never quits. He absolutely loves people and gets along great with other dogs, though he does enjoy rough-and-tumble play with his canine friends—so a dog who matches his play style would be ideal. With people, Trapper is all sweetness and affection. He thrives on attention and bonds quickly, always happy to lean in for love after a good play session. True to his hound roots, Trapper follows his nose wherever it leads and would do best with an adopter who understands hounds and enjoys providing enrichment, adventure, and mental stimulation. Trapper is looking for an active home that can match his energy, appreciate his houndy ways, and give him the outlet he needs to be his best self. In return, he’ll offer endless love, fun, and loyal companionship. Trapper is in our Mutts with Manners training program! This program gives our residents more enrichment and a chance to truly shine outside the shelter—showing who they are beyond the cards that they have been dealt. Trapper is a blue star meaning he has just entered the program and is working on basic commands as well as leash manners!
