Story
Skip is the derpiest little love bug you’ll ever meet—this boy radiates pure serotonin from the moment he wakes up. Despite having tendon laxity from being confined early in life, Skip has made incredible progress through proper nutrition and physical therapy and continues to thrive. He may surprise you with how agile he is! Skip can hop onto furniture, manage stairs, zoom around the yard with his puppy pals, and his  favorite, the standing hug. He enjoys short walks on grass and softer surfaces, though abrasive surfaces like concrete are difficult as it causes abrasions from how his legs break over to the side. In foster care, Skip has lived with several adult dogs and has been the very best “uncle” to multiple litters of puppies. He adores puppies and high-energy dogs and plays hard—something that’s been fantastic therapy for both his body and his spirit. While his hound voice makes an appearance during playtime, he’s otherwise non-reactive and easygoing. When playtime is over, Skip is all about snuggles and cozy naps. At 1 year old, he’s fully potty trained. Long periods in a crate are difficult on his body but he does well when left unsupervised in the home. Skip will likely need some level of lifelong joint and tendon support, but he’s currently doing very well and has a positive prognosis. He’s a joyful, affectionate, resilient young dog looking for a home that will continue cheering him on—and soaking up all the love he has to give.

Story
Meet Dixie Chick This lovely 6-8-year-old coonhound is the definition of sweet southern charm! Dixie Chick was rescued from a high-kill shelter on her “last day,” and she’s been thankful for every cozy couch nap since. Dixie is a gentle soul who loves her stuffed animals — she treats them like her babies and keeps them close at all times. While she’s mostly a laid-back lady, her hound nose can still get her going when she catches a good scent! She’s crate trained and settles down quickly after a few minutes of letting you know she’s there (classic hound behavior!). She even sleeps peacefully through the night in her crate. We do recommend crating her when you’re away — if she smells something tasty, she’ll go on a little “treasure hunt.” Like many older dogs, Dixie occasionally has pee accidents if she isn’t let out in time, but she’s doing her best. This sweet girl is just looking for a loving home where she can snooze on the couch, snuggle her stuffies, and enjoy her golden years feeling safe and adored.
