Paint your home in ruby red! Ruby is a 5-6 year‑old red Coonhound mix with a heart as warm as her coat. She’s affectionate, gentle, intelligent, and wonderfully even‑tempered — the kind of dog who slips seamlessly into your life and makes every day a little sweeter. She gets along beautifully with adults, older kids, and dogs of all sizes, and she’s shown lovely manners with visiting children as well. In fact, she's been a perfect houseguest in her foster home: calm, clean, and comfortable in a crate for up to eight hours. Ruby loves squeaky toys, fetch, meeting new furry friends, and chilling out on a warm, comfy lap. She walks nicely on leash, responds well to gentle corrections, and is always eager to please. Her sweet nature is only matched by her deep, brown eyes and wet, boopable nose. Ruby would love a home that can give her more walks, more people time, and more enrichment — she’s ready for a fuller life with her forever family. If you’re looking for a sweet, steady, affectionate companion, Ruby is ready to be your girl. Medical Note: This dog has been treated for heartworm disease. Untreated heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs and arteries, and can affect the dog’s health and quality of life even after the parasites are gone, possibly presenting as medical complications and/or new conditions in the future. Whenever possible, SOSARL advocates for following the American Heartworm Society guidelines for heartworm disease treatment as the safest and most effective methods; the active portion of this treatment protocol can take up to four months to complete. This dog’s treatment has been completed and the dog has tested negative for microfilaria; the has been cleared to resume normal activity and is ready to be placed into an adoptive home. This dog showed no symptoms of heartworm disease before or during treatment; future complications are not expected, but are not impossible.
