Story
At first glance, Acer appears to be a potato with legs. Very short legs. But do not be fooled -- this is not a couch potato. This is an adventure potato.Acer is a 3-year-old Corgi who found himself looking for a new home after a child in his family developed allergies. Their loss is about to be someone else's very lucky gain.Acer loves walks, swimming, fetch, exploring, and generally being wherever humans are. He has the classic Corgi combination of athleticism and comedy, somehow managing to look both graceful and slightly ridiculous at the same time. Watching him charge across a yard on those stubby little legs is enough to improve your mood for the rest of the day. He's incredibly affectionate, loves to snuggle, and genuinely enjoys being with people. He lived successfully with young children and a German Shepherd and gets along fine with other dogs, though he'd usually rather play with humans. We're a closer match to his intellect! If you're looking for a loyal sidekick with a wiggly butt, a big personality, and the rare ability to be both adventurous and well-mannered, Acer may be for you! He's housetrained, has great home manners, and proves that being adorable and civilized are not mutually exclusive.Come meet Acer at Animal Aid Society, 80 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, VA. Visiting hours are 9am to noon, daily, including weekends & holidays.Interested? Come for a visit any day of the week - 365 days a year between 9am - 12pm. Hope to see you soon!PLEASE NOTE: Animal Aid Society observes a 40 mile adoption radius to facilitate post adoption support and follow ups.

Story
Missy is new to the crew here at Petty Pawz Rescue. She is full of energy, spunk, and loves her treats! The shelter suspects she is a corgi mix (this is not guaranteed) due to her long body and short stubby legs. Either way, she is adorable and will make an excellent addition to your home. Missy gets along with other dogs. We are still learning her house manners, since she is a stray. Missy will be available for adoption after her spay surgery (June 18th) To apply for Missy, please submit an application https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/66b189c45d6f9afa2c07afb8/6a29a68c88b33ecc1e079439

Story
Lady Lucy – Sweet Survivor  Some dogs have a way of capturing your heart the moment you meet them, and Lady Lucy is certainly one of those dogs. Though her past appears to have been filled with uncertainty, she has emerged from it with a gentle spirit, a loving heart, and an unwavering belief that good things are still ahead. Lady Lucy was one of nine dogs discovered living in a remote wooded area of Middle Tennessee after they were apparently abandoned when their owner fell on difficult times. No one knows exactly how long they survived on their own, but their situation touched the hearts of many rescue volunteers who came together to help. With patience, food, water, and kindness, the dogs were gradually brought to safety. Rescue groups across the region stepped forward to help, and Critter Cavalry Rescue was fortunate enough to welcome Lady Lucy into its care. From the moment she arrived, it was clear that Lucy had once known the comforts of a home. She settled in beautifully and quickly showed everyone what a wonderful companion she is. At just over a year old and weighing 32 pounds, Lucy is the perfect size for a family looking for a smaller dog with a big heart. She appears to be a delightful mix of Corgi and Beagle, though her most remarkable feature is her personality. She is affectionate, gentle, and full of love, with the easygoing nature often found in hound breeds. Whether she's relaxing beside you on the couch or quietly following you from room to room, Lucy simply wants to be close to her people. She is fully grown, crate trained, housebroken, and has excellent manners in the home. Lucy currently lives successfully with other dogs and does very well in an active household with teenagers, but she has made it clear that she would not mind having a little less competition for attention. After all she has been through, we think she would happily embrace a life where she can enjoy a bit more of the spotlight and receive the princess treatment she believes is rightfully hers. Lady Lucy has a way of looking into your eyes that makes you feel like you've known each other forever. She is the kind of dog who forms deep bonds, offers unwavering companionship, and fills a home with warmth and comfort. Her difficult past has not diminished her capacity to love; if anything, it seems to have made her even more appreciative of every kindness she receives. Now all that remains is for the right family to find her. Lady Lucy is packed and ready for her next adventure, with an open heart and a hopeful spirit. She is ready to leave her difficult past behind and begin the life she has always deserved with a family who will cherish her as the special girl she truly is. To learn more about Lady Lucy or to request an adoption application, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJune 24, 2026, 11:33 am

Story
Meet Chance! He arrived at the shelter as a surrender and is 4 years old. He has been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Chance arrived at the shelter feeling unsure of his new surroundings. The busy shelter environment can be overwhelming for him, and the loud barks of the larger dogs often make him nervous. Because of this, he may be a little hesitant when meeting new people for the first time. Once Chance realizes you're a friend, though, his sweet personality begins to shine. He greets familiar faces with a full-body wag and is always happy to see someone willing to spend time with him. He enjoys a little playtime and attention before happily settling down beside you, content just to be near his person. Chance is looking for a patient, loving adopter who will give him the time he needs to build confidence and feel secure. In return, he'll reward you with loyal companionship, gentle affection, and the joy of watching him blossom into the happy dog he's meant to be. If you'd like to meet Chance, you can call (540) 778-2101 or email animalshelter@pagecounty.virginia.gov.
