Templeton. Kinda makes you think of an English movie with some guy in a smoking jacket with leather patches on the elbows, standing in a library in front of a fire, doesn't it? But don't worry, I am not at all like that! When I was at the animal control, I guess they ran out of "normal dog names, and they gave me this one to try to make me feel better or special or something. I was found as a stray in a neighboring town and my hair was so long and so matted together, they would have to carry me around. I could hardly move and when I did, it hurt and pulled. After foster mom got me, it took her and the groomer 4 hours to get all the matts and tangles off me so that I could actually walk again. Boy, did that feel better! Over the next few days, I went to the vet and had some x-rays done and was found to have some degenerative disc disease in my upper back and the medications they gave me really helped a Lot! I feel like a new puppy!! I am an 8-year-old shih tzu mix and get along with everyone at my foster mom's house. Big dogs, little dogs, puppies, kitties or cats...they are all ok with me. I walk like a dream on a leash and am potty trained. I will bark to go outside here. And I sleep in my own little doggie bed at night. I will be happy in a house that has friendly pets and nice people but I am not sure how I am with small children so that is probably not the best for me. Older, dog-friendly children would be ok. But I have a couple of must haves. I feel good on my medicines so I would like to go to a house that will keep me on them. Cosequin, fish oil and meloxicam or whatever your vet will order for me to keep me pain free. AND I need to have regular grooming. I don't want to be a matted mess ever again!! If you can give me those two things, please apply to adopt me! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

My name is Dixie, and I came from a "home" that basically had no use for me, except to churn out babies :( LUCKILY I was saved by a rescue and now I am living in a nice foster home and will make no more puppies :D I am a sweet and shy girl, and would be best in a home without children or who have older children. I am happy go lucky and will wear OUT your lap, if you let me! I am great with the other dogs in my foster home but will chase the cats. I am house and pee pad trained and a delight to walk around and show off. I have been known to scream a little when picked up, my foster mom thinks that I was not handled nicely at my first 'home". But I am getting used to being handled and more comfortable with my foster parents. I am even learning how to play with toys, right now I nap with them but eventually I will understand how to play with them soon :) Adopt this sweet girl and give her the life she has been waiting for!! Local adoption fee is $400 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $800 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)
