Story
My name is Sam the Shitzu. My foster mom says I am a bundle of energy, so she was more than surprised to hear I am about 5 years old. I live with 4 fur-fosters about my size. During the day we love running around outside chasing squirrels or racing for toys my foster mom throws for us. We each sleep in our own crates for naps (while humans are away) and bedtime. I am relatively quiet in my crate throughout the night unless I hear a noise or know my humans are around. Sometimes I do get lonely and I will let the world know, lol. Yes, I am a barker, and I might be mistaken for a larger dude, unlike a yippy pomeranian. I travel well in a crate in the car, it did take a couple rides to get used to it, I will admit. I walk best on a leash with a harness; I am a bit stubborn and insist on leading the way, yes “it’s my way or the highway”! I do love being the center of attention. I will jump onto the chair to sit next to you. I love being pet, and although I do not growl I do get nippy when I play and get excited to play! But you cannot blame me! I have been sick and hurting for a long time and NOW that I have my horrible hernia repaired, am neutered and had big bladder stones removed, AND my cherry eye repaired! I am HAPPY AND PLAYFUL!! I feel like I am reliving my puppyhood and am looking for someone who can keep up with me! My diet consists of Honest Kitchen (great for hiding liquid medicine) and some treats like bell and sweet peppers (so-so), cooked smashed carrots, cucumber (so-so), papaya, pineapple, cheeses, hard boiled egg… most of which are great for hiding pills of any sort. I cannot wait to meet my furever family 💕 I have so much love to give. My furever family will be a happy and loving family, older kids are better than the young ones, active and do not live in an apartment because i do bark. I would love to have someone who works from home so I can cuddle and play ALL DAY LONG!! But I am good in a crate if you need to leave me :D ADOPT ME SOON!! Local adoption fee is $350 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $650 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Say hello to this tiny fluffball, DJ! DJ is a 5-month-old, 6 lb Shorkie who came to us when his owner could no longer care for him. DJ is ready to bring some serious joy into your life! At just 5 months old, DJ is still very much a puppy—curious, goofy, playful, and full of love. He adores being held and cuddled, and he’s also got a silly, energetic side that shines when he’s playing with other dogs. In fact, DJ will do best in a home with another dog to help him learn the ropes and keep him company. As with any young pup, DJ is still working on his potty training and manners, so he’ll need a patient family ready to help him grow into his best self. DJ’s beautiful coat will require regular grooming, so his future family should be ready for some fluff maintenance. But trust us, he’s worth every brushstroke. If you're looking for a sweet, snuggly companion with a playful heart and a whole lot of personality, DJ might just be your perfect match. DJ is fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Bonny! She is a 2-year-old, 11 LB Shih-Tzu/Terrier mix who is looking for her forever home! Bonny is a sweet girl that enjoys being with her people above all else. She bonds deeply to her person and would love a forever home where she can be with her family often and cuddle up on the couch with them. She is still gaining her confidence, but opens up to be a goofy, spunky, and happy dog. Bonny will require an adopter that is patient in allowing her to open up and gain trust, but once she trusts you, you’re her person! She has done well with other dogs and wouldn’t mind having another dog in the home. She also wouldn’t mind being an only dog so that she can soak up all the love and attention! Bonny is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption fee is $500.

Story
Meet Bunsen! This adorable little Shih Tzu is about 9 years old and weighs just 9 pounds. He’s not a koala, he just has the biggest eyes you’ll ever see! Bunsen came to us in rough shape after being found as a stray, but after a good grooming and a month of love in his foster home, he’s ready to find his forever family.Bunsen is the definition of a cuddly companion. He lives for butt scratches, tummy rubs, and cozy snuggles. Though he’s hard of hearing and has limited vision, he gets around just fine and is full of love to give. He’s gentle with cats, great with other dogs, and does well with kind, respectful kids. He’s mostly house trained with the help of a belly band and will even let you know when he needs to go outside. With a consistent schedule and a little patience, we think he could eventually leave the belly band behind altogether.Bunsen is a bit of a picky eater, so he’ll need someone who’s willing to be understanding and flexible at mealtime. But for the right person, this little guy will be an incredibly sweet and loyal companion.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.April 28, 2025, 5:11 am

Click the button to download the adoption application. The application is a form-fillable pdf. Fill out the form, save it to your hard drive, then email back to sian@gingerspetrescue.org Hi!!  My name is Parsnip from Korea and I am a wonderful approx. 2 year old male Shih Tzu.  I am about 7 lbs. and hoping to find a forever home.  I am friendly and was saved from an illegal Breeding Farm in South Korea.  I was rescued with many others by local activists from the horrific conditions we were in.  I fought to survive every day and was so badly neglected.  Korea kills an estimated 1.5 -2 million dogs a year to be eaten.  I just want a chance to be part of a family and for someone to love and care for me.  I am so lucky to get a one-way ticket to Seattle to find my new family.  Take me on car rides, walks in the park and I will become your best friend.  I get along well with people of all ages, gentle kids, and other dogs.  I will do best with a loving family that can give me lots of love and affection!  On all overseas adoption, we highly recommend our pet rescue dog trainer who will come to your home and help train your new pup.  My adoption fee of $1,595 will cover my spay/neuter, DA2PP shots, Rabies, Bordetella, Deworm, Heart Worm Test, Microchip, Boarding Fees, Health Certificate and airline transport cost from Korea to Seattle.  A GPS tracker or Apple AirTag is required for all adopted dogs. You can bring your own when adopting or you can purchase an AirTag from us.  The adoption fee is firm and helps save the life of another dog needing rescue and our other dogs in need of medical care.  We do not guarantee the breed and age of the dogs.  Donations are always appreciated to help pay down our vet bills at Greenwood Vet.  Ginger's Pet Rescue is a non-profit 501C-3 organization.  The adoption fee is donated to the rescue and is tax deductible.  Please e-mail at  admin@gingerspetrescue.org  for an adoption application.     April 29, 2025, 11:29 pm

Story
Papi, our oh so cute Daddy Shihtzu, is approximately 10 years old, and so full of life! He loves his playtime outside, and all the other dogs in his current home. Papi recently lost his senior human, and now needs a new home of his own. Papi is playful, affectionate and a fun pup to be around. Please help us find Papi that soft place to land! Papi is the father to Copper and Teddy and they share his good looks! He has been living in a multi dog home and could do well as a only dog as long as his new person has lots of time for him. If you know Shihtzu's, you know they love their humans! Papi has been neutered and current on his vaccinations and has already received a dental as a part of his adoption donation.

These pups are in Everett, Washington too!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Banjo – A Spirited Soul with a Story to Tell DOB: ~August 23, 2022 | Weight: 21.6 lbs | Adoption Fee: $400 Apply at: www.adoggie4you.org Look at that happy face—Banjo is a character through and through! This little guy is full of charm, always up for some time in the play yard, and never says no to attention from his favorite volunteers. He’s friendly, social, and has a big personality packed into a compact body. Banjo’s story hasn’t been an easy one. After being found on the streets and fully vetted by our team, we searched for his owners for months. Just as he was about to be adopted, his previous owners came forward. Sadly, a year later, Banjo was found on the streets again, and we were called to take him back into our care. His former owners, currently without stable housing, agreed it was best that Banjo find a safe, secure forever home. Due to past food insecurity, Banjo can be food-aggressive with other dogs. He’s shown no aggression toward people and does well with small dogs, but may be a bit pushy with larger ones. With a bit of patience and structure, Banjo has all the potential to thrive. Banjo is now safe, healthy, and ready for a brighter future. If you’re looking for a fun-loving companion who’s ready to be truly home for good, Banjo could be your perfect match. This dog is currently in Texas; however, it can be transported to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, Des Moines, Omaha, Cincinnati, Lexington KY or all along the East Coast. If transported, there is an additional transport fee of $225. We do not transport to Rhode Island or Massachusetts due to their regulations.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 25, 2025, 2:38 pm
