Story
Looks like: Chiweenie Male, 8 years old (estimated), 9 pounds Bradley is a little guy with a big heart, but it does take him a little while to warm up to new people. He has nipped at people he does not know when stressed. Once he warms up to you and feels safe, he is all in and loves a good snuggle. If you've had a shier dog in the past, you probably know the kind of patience it takes to win over a dog like Bradley. And that it is totally worth the loyal devotion that follows. Bradley loves to nap in the warm sun, curl up in fuzzy blankets, and seek out the coziest spots in the house to unwind. When he's not indulging in relaxation, he enjoys playing fetch with his human, although he's still mastering the art of letting go when it's time to return the ball. He has a beloved stuffed toy named Lambie, which he loves to carry around, and he won't go to bed until he's tucked Lambie in too. His playful spirit and appreciation for comfort make him the perfect companion for someone who enjoys the simple pleasures. He can peacefully co-exist with canine siblings who respect his space, but he doesn't have any experience with cats. Because of his shy nature, his ideal home would be a quiet place without young children. This sweet boy joined us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after he was picked up as a stray. He was overwhelmed by the environment at the shelter and was not doing well. We were happy to welcome him into the program and offer him a soft landing spot.

Story
Looks like: Dachshund, Chihuahua mix Male, 14 years old (estimated), 12 pounds Pepi is a happy, mostly confident little guy who's very favorite pastime is napping, closely followed by frolics in the yard or at the park, interspersed with plenty of pets and hind-quarter scratches. Although this little dude is vision and hearing-impaired, he walks well on leash, taking it slow and easy. He's also a pro at stairs and doesn't need to be carried up or down! He gets along well with other dogs that he meets at the park, mainly by ignoring them after the initial sniff test. He also lives with another pup who he loves to nap next to. When meeting new people, including children, he can be a little shy at first, but is always sweet and friendly. We don't know yet how he behaves around cats. At his foster home, he does not mind being home alone, but he also loves being out and about, eagerly hopping into the car, politely sharing the back seat with fellow canines as they all know it is time to head to the park. When Pepi wants attention, he will politely raise his paw for you to see. How cute is that?! Pepi is hoping to find a quiet, loving household either with or without another dog. Due to his vision impairment, he can be cautious in new places and needs to be carried up and down flights of stairs. His ideal human would be a shuttle driver to the park, timely server of breakfast and dinner, massage therapist for cuddles and attention, room service personnel for fluffing up his cozy bed, and a generous treat dispenser. This sweet senior lad came to us from a shelter in Sacramento where he was on the red list for euthanasia.

Story
Looks like: Chihuahua mix Female, 5 years old (estimated), 9 pounds Meet Izzy, a sweet and curious girl with a heart full of love! Though she can be a bit shy at first, with patience and time, Izzy quickly becomes a loyal and brave companion. She's the kind of dog who will stand by your side and support you through it all. Izzy's list of favorite things is long and absolutely adorable. She loves burrowing into blankets, cuddling up inside your sweatshirt, and getting chest scratches. She's also a fan of 3-5 mile walks and, above all, food! For a meal, she'll leap with excitement, leaving all her pride behind for the joy of a tasty bite. Izzy would thrive in a solo person and adult-only home where she can feel safe and secure. She's a gentle soul who can get overwhelmed around children, so a calm environment will help her shine. Izzy came to us from Hitchcock Road Animal Services after being found as a stray.

To be considered for adoption, pls submit an application in advance.   Adoption Fee: $650 Like her name suggests, Bubble floats through life with playful energy and irresistible charm.     Bubble is a 4 month old Chiweenie puppy with a big heart, a smart mind, and a bounce in her step! Rescued from the Central Valley after being abandoned with her siblings, Bubble has blossomed into a joyful and energetic pup in her loving foster home. Her brothers and sisters have already found their forever families — now it's Bubble's turn.   When Bubble first arrived, she was shy and uncertain, especially around the men in her foster family and the resident dogs. But with patience and love, Bubble has made incredible progress. She now initiates play with the family dogs (a 15 lb. beagle and a 55 lb. hound!), follows them around the house, and greets her humans with excitement — especially the ladies of the house. She's even learning to trust the men, happily accepting treats and playing fetch with them.   Bubble’s days are full of puppy fun. She wakes up around 7:30 a.m. and starts the day with zoomies before breakfast — and often during breakfast, too! She loves to carry her kibble around while she plays, only to return and finish eating when she’s good and ready. Throughout the day, she alternates between playtime with the resident dogs, entertaining herself with squeaky toys (which she ADORES), and cozy naps in her x-pen. She has lunch around noon and dinner at 6:00 p.m., with plenty of outdoor potty breaks and play sessions in between. Bubble sleeps quietly in her pen at night and stays in a crate when her humans are away.   This smart little girl already knows how to sit for a treat, ring a bell to go outside, and play an enthusiastic game of fetch — often with the biggest ball she can carry! She’s housetrained to go potty outside or on pads, has had no accidents indoors, and is crate-trained. While she’s got typical puppy energy and is working through a bit of teething, she’s not destructive and hasn’t shown any interest in digging or chewing out of boredom.   Bubble would thrive in an active home with people who can keep up with her playful spirit. She’d love a canine playmate but would also do well as the center of attention. She hasn’t been around cats or kids yet, but with her affectionate nature, she may do well with a slow introduction and proper guidance.   What sets Bubble apart? Her resilience, her sweetness, and her hilarious personality — like the time she tried to howl with a ball in her mouth while playing fetch (spoiler: it was adorable). She’s a cuddle bug at heart and will happily snuggle in your lap after a good play session.   If you're looking for a clever, spirited, and affectionate companion who’s ready to keep you smiling, Bubble might just be your perfect match. Come meet her — she’s ready to bring joy, energy, and a whole lot of love into her forever home.July 11, 2025, 8:37 pm
