Story
Meet Sweet Pete! This 1-year-old Dachshund-Miniature Pincher blend weighs 9 lbs. Sweet Pete is a young guy with tons of puppy energy and is always on the go! General Behavior: Sweet Pete, or Petey, as his friends call him, is a friendly boy! He is quite exuberant when meeting new people and other dogs. As active as he is, when his energy runs out, Sweet Pete likes nothing more than to sleep on his person's lap or as close to that person as possible. He's a little lovebug and will stare at you with his dark, expressive eyes, melting your heart. Likes & Dislikes: Sweet Pete loves going for walks, running around in the backyard, rooting through the toy box to see what catches his interest, and playing with other dogs. Training: This young guy is working hard on his training skills. He's learning to walk on the leash but does get excited, which sometimes causes him to bark at other dogs while on his walk. He is doing very well with housetraining when kept on a regular schedule and let out frequently. He likes treats, which will help with training as he learns the ropes in his forever home. He already knows how to sit! Medical: Petey is a healthy boy and just requires his monthly heartworm and flea preventative. Other Animals: Sweet Pete interacts well with other playful pups! He has not yet been introduced to any cats. Children: Pete would do well with kids 10+ who understand doggie boundaries.  Home: This active pooch will require a single-family home without directly connected neighbors. When he hears noises outside, Pete sometimes runs to the window to bark, and we wouldn't want him bothering anyone. As a young guy with lots of energy, he will need a fenced-in backyard and a family that can commit to providing him with daily walks and exercise. Grooming: Sweet Pete has a soft, glossy coat so won’t need grooming beyond baths. Overall: Sweet Pete is a fun guy with so much love to give to a dog-loving family! Are you the one for Sweet Pete? Visit our website www.PoodleandPoochRescue.org where you will find the application to adopt. You’ll be put in contact with his foster family if it’s a potential match. He is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption donation is $450. ##1981027##

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Carter is a lively 3-year-old, 12-lb., male wire-haired dachshund. He is the friendliest little boy you’ll ever meet. There is no such thing as a stranger in Carter’s world as he greets everyone he meets with tail- wagging enthusiasm. His zest for life is contagious as he makes friends wherever he goes. Speaking of going, he loves walks around the neighborhood as well as car rides, and would love a family that would include him in their adventures. He is happiest when he is with his people, he doesn’t like being left behind and becomes anxious when left alone. A household where someone works from home, or is retired is a must for him, and a companion dog in the house would be ideal. So far Carter has shown no signs of being dog selective, he has been friendly and respectful with large, small, male and female, he is just happy to have a fellow furry friend, but he has not been tested with cats. Carter is doing great with his house training and will go to the back door when he needs to go outside and potty, but he still has the occasional accident. He has been well mannered in the home, no chewing or destructive behavior. He enjoys Nylabones and playing fetch, and loves playing with children, they are his favorite. He also loves to snuggle on the couch and sleep with his humans in bed. He truly is a joy to have around. Carter came to the rescue missing quite a bit of fluffy fur and needed to gain some weight but his new healthy lifestyle has done wonders and both his weight and coat are filling in nicely. If you are looking for a fun loving, loyal companion to keep you company and share your adventures, Carter is the perfect boy for you. We would prefer someone for him who has doxie breed experience. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and think you are a perfect match for Carver, please complete an app and tell us more about your family.April 23, 2024, 11:43 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Through no fault of her own, Kandi was surrendered to PRBJ by her owner.  She is a sweet girl that needs a little time to warm up.  Kandi is overweight and will need a dedicated owner who will help her on the weight loss journey she desperately needs.    As her owners used a crate and pee-pee pads for her to go potty, her new family will need to work on potty training her outside.Kandi is used to a crate for sleeping and alone time. She is playful with toys. Her former home did not have a yard, nor did they take her out on walks, so she's not familiar with a leash.  We were told she has also not been around other dogs, but has been around kids and done well with them.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 23, 2024, 9:23 pm
