Apply to Adopt Me! Meet Goldie: Your New Low-Rider, Little Spoon, and Loyalty Expert If you are looking for a compact companion who promises to keep your bed warm and your life full of laughs, Goldie is the girl for you. At a solid 25 lbs, this 5 1/2yo possible dachshund/pittie mix is the definition of "travel-sized" perfection. She sports the classic long-and-low doxie build and a coat of bright sunshine, all topped off with a pair of iconic "satellite dish" ears. The Resilient Spirit: Goldie is a survivor who lost her first home after her original family became unhoused. She was hit by a car in October 2024 that left her temporarily paralyzed from the waist down after suffering a broken pelvis. She is a medical marvel; while her back legs may look a little "off-kilter" when she walks, she still has that goofy energy and can run, zoom and leap onto the couch for a cuddle session like a pro. The Daily Routine: Goldie is a trustworthy, non-destructive roommate who doesn’t require a crate. When you’re gone, she mostly just snoozes in her bed or burrows into blankets. She has a few 15-minute bursts of "goofy mode" per day for tug-o-war or fetch and will let you know when it's time to go out (or when it's time to eat). Otherwise, her absolute favorite pastime is getting endless belly scratches while melting into your side. She walks fine on a leash but can pull or plant if she sees or smells something interesting. She loves car rides. Quick Stats & Needs: The Friendship Pipeline: Goldie can be wary of strangers at first. She needs a proper, patient introduction. However, if that stranger is offering a slice of delicious ham, she’ll immediately decide they are her new best friend for life! (And once that initial meeting is over, she’ll stay your best friend even if the ham runs out!) Family Life: If the home has kids, Goldie would do well in a home with older children (10+); she would love a human playmate to burn off energy with during backyard chase sessions. Social Skills & Training: She is a loyal protector who needs a confident leader to set boundaries, as she can sometimes be prone to resource-guarding her favorite people. Because she already has a great grip on her basic commands, she is incredibly adept at learning; she would be an excellent candidate for additional training to help her channel her loyalty and focus into new skills! Other Pets: She prefers to be your one and only dog. She is currently coexisting with two cats, but her "no chill" approach can be a bit much for them. The Ideal Setup: Someone who works from home or part-time is preferred for regular bathroom breaks. Home Infrastructure: She prefers non-slip flooring to keep her balanced. Plus, easy-to-clean floors are best for her occasional "excited sprinkles" or drips when she barks. She requires a fenced-in yard (at least 4ft high) for safe sniffing and sunbathing. Skills: Pro at "Sit," "Drop it," and "Go get/where’s your toy?" Goldie is a resilient soul who just wants a stable place to land. If you have a spot in your bed for a "little spoon" and a spare slice of ham, she will be your most devoted companion for life. If you live in the Central March 6, 2026, 12:32 pm
