Story

Sleepy started life as a beloved puppy, but somewhere along the way, her story took a hard turn. She was recently found wandering the streets of Florida, thin and covered in fleas and ticks, clearly having been on her own for far too long. Despite everything she's been through, this girl has not lost a single ounce of sweetness. Sleepy is gentle, calm, and kind - the kind of dog who makes you forget she ever had a hard day in her life. She walks beautifully on leash and gets along well with other dogs, making her a wonderful fit for a variety of homes. At 29 pounds, she's the perfect medium-sized companion, just needing a little extra love and some good meals to get her back to her best self. If you've been looking for a sweet, easygoing girl to share your home with, Sleepy just might be the one. Sleepy is 6.5 yrs. old (est. birth date 12/04/2019) and her adoption fee is $315. If you want more information about Sleepy, please submit a survey at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FKDS/Dog. At this time, meeting our dogs is by appointment only. After submitting a survey, an adoption counselor will contact you to give you more information about the dog you are interested in adopting and to arrange for you to meet the dog. Must be at least 21 years of age to adopt.

EvieFemale Chiweenie DOB: 2/21/2022Adoption Fee: $200Cookie and Evie are sweet babies that will steal your heart and would love to make it home with you. These girls are quite shy and will take some time to open up but will be sweet love bugs once they feel comfortable. Cookie is still nervous on a leash and can be very scared of sudden movements. Evie will give you a stare to make it seem like she's feisty, but she is a little more outgoing. She will walk on leash with lots of encouragement. Cookie will open up more with time and will blossom into her silly personality. She and her sister are bashful, but with time and encouragement they will open up a lot more. These girls need someone who understands that they will need a little extra time getting used to their new people and surroundings. They will need someone who will go slow and will let them go at their own pace. These girls had a hard start, but once given the opportunity to flourish, they will be at their happiest! Please read the animal bios completely before requesting additional information as we do our best to answer the most frequently ask questions in these bios. In order to adopt one of our animals an application must be submitted and approved. You can find these applications by going to http://humanemorgan.org/index.php?page=adoption ABOUT ADOPTING FROM THE HSMC: The shelter address is 1170 Fairground Rd. Madison, GA 30650. All dogs are heartworm negative, current on vaccines/dewormings, and microchipped. All cats are current on vaccines/deworming, and microchipped. We are open 12pm-5pm Sunday-Friday and 10 am-5pm on Saturday, we schedule our last adoption at 4pm everyday to allow our staff enough time to feed and walk dogs. We are an animal shelter and therefore are not able to individually potty train our residents. Many adult dogs do arrive “house broken” however due to animal behavior any change in environment will make an emotional impact on the animals and therefore initiate unwanted behaviors during the acclamation period. Please keep this in mind. Puppies do not have the biological maturity to maintain absolute bladder or bowel control and will require a certain degree of potty training and house breaking. Please consider the time and commitment it takes to provide the necessary building blocks for these special babies, prior to submitting your application. If you have any questions please email us at info@humanemorgan.org and provide name of the animal you are interested in, in the subject line.
