Story
Meet Archie Little Archie has the sweetest eyes and cutest ears! Archie and his brother Tucker (Tucker is pending adoption) were surrendered when their family lost their home. Sadly, their precious mom had been run over and the boys were living outside. We gladly accepted the siblings into our no-kill shelter. They were cleaned up, fed and whisked off to foster care. Archie is back in the shelter. He's doing great. He's seven months old now. We think he could be a dachshund/beagle mix but who knows? We just know he's adorable. Archie is ball of high energy and puppy crazy. He loves playing with other pups. Archie is sweet, silly, outgoing and friendly. A fenced yard will be a must. His mom was small to medium size and Archie looks to take after her. He is absolutely adorable and ready to find his forever home. If looking for a terrific puppy, get your application in. If interested in welcoming Archie to your heart and home, please submit an application online at: www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org. Once you’re on our home page, you can click on “How To Adopt” to pull up the dog application form. Please email our shelter (smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net) to make sure we received your application. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are either owner relinquished rescued from area Animal Controls or high kill shelters. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.

DottieDachshund MixFemaleDOB: 1/01/23Adoption Fee: $200Meet Dottie, one of our two energetic low riders! The girls love to get their energy out running crazy zoomies around the yard together! After they've sufficiently worn each other out, they enjoy relaxing and curiously watching the dogs in the other play yards. Come on over and have a blast with these two short stacks! Please read the animal bios completely before requesting additional information as we do our best to answer the most frequently ask questions in these bios. In order to adopt one of our animals an application must be submitted and approved. You can find these applications by going to http://humanemorgan.org/index.php?page=adoption ABOUT ADOPTING FROM THE HSMC: The shelter address is 1170 Fairground Rd. Madison, GA 30650. For more information on any of our pets, please feel free to email us at INFO@HUMANEMORGAN.ORG give us a call at 706-343-9977. All dogs are heartworm negative, current on vaccines/dewormings, and microchipped. All cats are FeLv/FIV negative, current on vaccines/dewormings, and microchipped. We are open 10am-5pm Monday-Saturday, we schedule our last adoption at 4pm everyday to allow our staff enough time to feed and walk dogs. We are an animal shelter and therefore are not able to individually potty train our residents. Many adult dogs do arrive “house broken” however due to animal behavior any change in environment will make an emotional impact on the animals and therefore initiate unwanted behaviors during the acclamation period. Please keep this in mind. Puppies do not have the biological maturity to maintain absolute bladder or bowel control and will require a certain degree of potty training and house breaking. Please consider the time and commitment it takes to provide the necessary building blocks for these special babies, prior to submitting your application. If you have any questions please email us at info@humanemorgan.org and provide name of the animal you are interested in, in the subject line. Story
Got him as a puppy. He has been such an amazing dog. He absolutely loves cuddling and does not leave your side. He loves being loved. He walks great on a leash and loves to carry packages and mail back home. He is great with other dogs, at dog parks he’d rather be sitting next to you instead of playing with the rest of the dogs. We brought home our baby in August and he has been very protective of him but does not allow my husband, family, or friends around the baby. I hate to rehome him as I’ve had since he was a puppy but my husband is tired of being barked at every time he’s around the baby.

Story
Pepper has been with us for ~2 months after he was rescued wandering in a neighborhood and his owners could not be found. The vet estimates he is 3yrs old and he is crate trained. He is a sweet dog but not a good fit for our family. He is a very anxious little guy. He is scared by loud noises, rowdy kids, and being outside alone. He loves car rides, cuddles, and snuggling under a blanket. He is somewhat house trained, but is too anxious to do his business in our fenced back yard most of the time. He prefers to go to the bathroom when someone takes him to a small side or front yard. He is fine with older kids, but gets nippy with younger kids when they get excited. He’d do best in a house with adults that are home frequently and kids that are at least preteens.
