GUEST DOG: Helen Hunt is not a DREAM dog and is being listed as a courtesy to our good friends at Frankie & Andy's Place (a senior dog sanctuary) & her foster parent, to try to help spread the word about her availability. Normally FAAP does not adopt their dogs out, but occasionally one comes in that they just know really would do much better in a single home, especially if they could find one. Because we are all dachshund fans, we are more than happy to lend a hand in helping Helen find her way. If you are interested in making this sweetheart part of YOUR family, please let us know and we will put you in touch with Helen Hunt's foster parent.

Hi! I am GUEST DOG: Helen Hunt and I am looking for a new home. After a crazy trip from stray to a shelter to a sanctuary, I am now fully vetted, feeling much better about life, and looking for my own lap of luxury. They say I'm a little too spritely for the sanctuary-slow-life just yet. 😁 So, we are taking a look around to see if someone might like to take a chance on me.
I have been fully vetted with all vaccines and a heartworm test. I've passed with flying colors. They did discover that I need to be on some heart meds, but those will keep me going for a good long while. You know the drill...big chests, large hearts, we all need some extra support with that as we age. My foster mom can tell you all about the meds I'm on. If you know dachshunds, you are probably familiar with them, as they are pretty standard treatment. (Nothing fancy for me - I'm not bougie like that. 😆) I am crate trained and sleep well in there at night, as well as when my foster mom has to be gone. I am also fairly potty-trained, but you will have to guide me at first. Sometimes my bladder is so full, that if you let me daudle on my way out the door, I may forget what I'm doing and stop mid-stride. Foster Mom says she can scoop me up and carry me, as well as coax me with her voice to get outside quickly. I just have to "focus". Whatever people, I'm a dachshund!!!
As far as other dogs go, I do know how to get along. I really would like to hog my person all to myself, but I suspose I could handle a friend, if I had to. They just have to promise to be nice to me and know I'm going to demand more of everything from my person. Tee hee. I REALLY like being with my person.
To make me the happiest Dachshund ever, please let DREAM know you would like to know more about me. They will put you in touch. Any paperwork & adoption fee will be handled by FAAP, who is the actual organization responsible for Helen's care.
DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
