Morty is a senior Dachshund mix with a heart full of love and a strong desire to be wherever his people are. At around 10+ years old and 16 lbs, he’s the definition of a Velcro dog: if you’re home, Morty will be right by your side, in your lap, or snuggled under a blanket near you. Morty is mostly potty trained and does a great job letting you know when he needs to go outside. He walks nicely on a harness and enjoys spending time with other small dogs and cats. While he can coexist with larger dogs, he seems most comfortable around dogs his own size. Like many long-backed breeds, Morty will need ramps or stairs to help protect his back and should not be jumping on and off furniture. He’s also not a good off-leash candidate because once he decides to go exploring, he’s not likely to come back when called! Morty is a sweet, affectionate boy who thrives on attention and companionship. He can be a little anxious when he can’t be near his people and may whine or bark to let you know he’d rather be included. Because of this, he’ll do best with a family that understands his clingy nature and will shower him with the love he craves. For his age, Morty is in great health. Where's all the Dachshund lovers....I'm a gem. I listen, I'm a cuddlier, and I'm quiet. I prefer woman. My past was not a happy experience with men. My newest photo is me and my pal, Cleo. 12/30/25 I'm so sad no one has asked about me. I'm really a good boy. I don't know why I'm not good with men. When Act2Pups rescued me from an outside cage during the winter I guess it was a man that left me outside. I listen well and I do what I'm told. I'm a pleaser for sure and I would just love to please Y.O.U. I've been here before...yes three years ago I was adopted and I thoroughly enjoyed my person. Unfortunately she fell and broke her hip and couldn't take care of me any more. I'm not terribly sad, but I do miss having a person of my own. I prefer females, apparently men have not been nice to me in the past. If you know my breed you know I'm pretty strong headed. I get along with all my housemates, both girls and boys. I like to take walks, I walk pretty well on a leash. I love meal time, so be careful I don't get too large! I'm ready for that forever home....calling all dachshund lovers!
