CALLING ALL DACHSHUND LOVERS: Approx. 3 years old / Approx. 12 lbs. Hi, I’m Sailor! I had a home since I was a puppy, but there were some life changes in my home, and my family could no longer keep me. Thankfully, Mostly Mutts took me in and I’m adjusting. I was adopted for a little over a month, but it wasn’t a good fit, so I’m back with Mostly Mutts in a wonderful foster home while I wait for my people to find and adopt me. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: In my foster home, it took me about 3 weeks to get used to the other little dogs, and now I’d like to play with them! However, were still working on it as I was a little grumpy towards them at first and they are a little unsure of me. If you have another little dog that will give me time to adjust and not hold a grudge if I’m initially grumpy with them, let’s meet. I wouldn’t mind being an only dog and the shining star of the show getting all the attention! Keep in mind that I don’t share food or toys. / My original family reported that I may be too much for a kitty cat. I liked the cat, but I was a lot. / I’m looking for a home without children. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL: I’m a very shy and sensitive girl who is learning that the world is a safe place, and I’m already making progress! I can be anxious and unsure, so I’m still a flight risk initially and will need a patient family who understands the importance of keeping me safe and secure. I can be easily startled, although my foster reports that this is improving. If I feel frightened or rushed, I may react defensively by nipping, so please take things slowly and let me come to you in my own time. My foster also says I’m a very spunky, typical Doxy, and that in less than a week I was already feeling comfortable enough to get the zoomies and race all around my foster home! As I continue to feel safe and settled, I’m sure more of my fun personality will shine through. You’ll know I’ve decided that I love you when I roll over for official belly rubs! I can be a food and toy guarder, so please give me space when I have those things. With patience, understanding, and a little time, I’m ready to show you just how much love, companionship, and loyalty I have to give. / Energy level: Both of my former families reported that I had a higher energy level once comfortable such as 6-8. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY: My original family reported that I knew the ‘sit’ and ‘come’ commands. I haven’t really tried working on commands yet while with Mostly Mutts, however they offer free lifetime training classes for all their adopted dogs, so perhaps we can do some training together. I’ve learned to walk on a leash in my foster home. / I did well in my crate at Mostly Mutts and my original family reported that I was crate trained. I sometimes like to hang out there with the door open too before bedtime and then I sleep well throughout the night. / When I was returned to Mostly Mutts, I had a lot of accidents likely due to stress. I’m improving but am not completely potty trained. In my foster home I use a potty pads and go outside on a routine. Both of my former families reported that I was working on my potty manners. • LIKES/DISLIKES: I enjoy playing with toys and spending time with calm, gentle, and patient people who let me build trust at my pace. My must-haves in a home are that it is a calm, peaceful one where I can truly flourish, and has a fenced yard where I can run wild like a little Doxy does! I absolutely love my fosters’ nice, fenced backyard and we spend a good bit of time out there together. I’ll do some zoomies and chase the butterflies while my tail just wags. I’d also love a family member who is home much of the time so I can continue to grow in confidence while enjoying lots of companionship. I welcome treats and belly rubs once I trust you. I also enjoy sitting in the driveway with my foster mom just watching the action of the neighborhood. / I don’t like being rushed into new situations or relationships and do best when people give me time to feel safe. Loud noises, door slams, sudden movements, and cars driving by scare me, but I believe in time, I will adjust. People wearing hats may make me a little nervous—so please just take it off. And like all dogs, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL: I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. Since I'm a Dachshund, I naturally have a long back which is subject to injury, so please don't allow me to jump on and off furniture so we can keep me safe and healthy. I’ve started on an inexpensive anxiety medication to help me feel calmer. I’m looking for a patient, calm and loving family to call my own that will treasure me! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga. August 19, 2026, 7:37 pm
