Story
6 years old aprox 25-30lbs  She is use to being an only dog and is learning how to be in a multi dog home. She needs her quiet space (crate) and to eat by herself. She would great as an only dog.  We have vet records that go back 4 years, so her age is accurate. She has a history of skin issues from flea allergies and possible food allergies. She will need to be on a rx based flea prevention and we currently have her on a fish based diet along with a daily dose of zyrtec. Her skin has cleared up beautifully.  She is crate trained, house trained and walks well on leash.  She has soon great energy for an older dog, she has some manners like jumping up on people that we are working with her on.  Callie's Story: She came to rescue after loosing both her parents. Mom died in January and then in March,  Dad went to the hospital with Cancer, he could no longer take care of her and the extended family took Callie to the pound. You can tell she was a well loved dog.  adoption fee $300 includes spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworms. To fill out an application visit https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/33868/generic ##2353519##

Story
LOOKING FOR A LOVING HOSPICE HOME:  Almost 16 years old / Approx. 25 lbs. Hi there, I’m Freckles!  I was with Mostly Mutts and adopted way back in 2009, so I’m almost 16 years old now.  I don’t know what happened with my family as they could not be located, and I was found in a rough neighborhood tied to a tree, in bad shape.  Thankfully animal control picked me up and helped me get back to Mostly Mutts who has nursed me to a better health level.  I’m in a wonderful foster home while I wait for an angel who loves to give the very aged dogs a great end of life home in love and comfort.  If that sounds like you, please inquire about meeting me! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  In my foster home I happily greet the other gentle dogs with a nose touch and then I go about my own business. So, if you have another dog or two that sounds like a match for me, let’s meet. / Cats unknown. / I’ve met teens and much younger kids in my foster home that all treated me very gently and I liked them!  So, if you have kids that are old enough to know how to interact with a very old girl, let’s meet, and best no very young kids that may fall on me.     • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  My foster family describes me as such a sweet, calm, gentle, quiet little lady who is truly a pleasure!  I’ve been very happy to meet everyone in my foster home and will come up to them and give their leg a very soft nudge with my nose for attention. I take treats gently, ride calmly in the car, don’t have any food issues and will happily share food with the other dogs in the home.  My movements are slow and hesitant because of poor eyesight and hearing, but I do get around well in my foster home now that I’ve learned the space.  Right now, I can do some stairs, but that could change, and of course I need to be kept safe from falling downstairs. / My energy level as expected is low at a 1–3.  • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m past the age of doing commands. / I am not crated in my foster home, but my foster has several beds for me around the home to choose from and I have two favorite spots. / My potty habits can be a little tricky due to my age and having kidney issues. I do let my foster know when I have to go out by walking around patiently, hoping you’ll take notice and take me outside. However, if you aren’t aware that I’m up, you can miss the short window of time, and I will have an accident.  I do fairly well with potty pads and my foster has plenty out for me and I do generally sleep through the night without having an accident.   • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love being petted, eating my food, getting treats, taking leisurely walks outside with the family, and gentle affection. I also love boiled carrots - not canned. / I don’t like being picked up because my chest area is sensitive with some lumps and bumps.  I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love and attention. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed.  At almost 16 years old I have some medical challenges, so please ask about those.  In general, I’m mostly blind and hard of hearing, I have some kidney issues and eat Science Diet KD food to help. I have some lumps and bumps and dental issues that can’t really be addressed due to my age and not being able to go under anesthesia.  So, some meds help with some of that.  Please ask about the things that help me to be comfortable.  I’m looking for a wonderful Hospice home to live out my life in love and comfort! My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  April 1, 2025, 6:42 am

Story
My mom forgot I was in the house...I got very hungry. Mom was taken away and the family didn't want me so the neighbor stepped in and reached out to Act2Pups and here I am. I was frightfully skinny and I'm slowly gaining weight , I do love food. I know I enjoy playing but, right now I'm resting and recovering. My teeth need cleaning and once that happens I'll be ready for a home that will never forget me. I'm fine with other dogs even though I'm older, at 14. My foster mom says I deserve the best forever home. I couldn't agree more, I'm a great pup!

Story
Meet Boone, a gorgeous and super silly long haired red male, who also happens to be an IVDD survivor. He arrived with a back injury and has gone through surgery. He's still primarily paralyzed but does have some tiny movement in his legs. But don't let that fool you into thinking he's slowed down at all. HECK NO!!! This boy is a professional when it comes to scooting or asking to be carried...and he's up for just about any adventure you care to take him on. He adores the car and wants to be with his people all the time. His bladder does need to be expressed, which is ridiculously easy and not messy at all. Just a little press on his abdomen & wheeee....you're done. Let us show you how. It makes him the most perfectly house-trained dog. WIN!!! Honestly whether he walks or scoots, he's the happiest little camper ever. Mr. Social !!! He has a real zest for life and brings joy to everyone he meets. Boone does enjoy his wheelie cart but b/c he's got such good foot placement when supported, we are encouraging him to keep strengthening his leg muscles to stand. If you know DREAM, you know we never give up. Because thru dreams, most anything is possible. Well almost anything....just not cats for Boone. He thinks they are toys and he will not stop chasing them. Unfortunately, he will annoy the heck out of the cats. DREAM has helped dogs of all capability levels and we believe this guy is really easy to care for. Resource material is available for you to order as well. One of the original board members wrote this extremely helpful book about day to day life with a "down dog".... Honey Have You Squeezed the Dachshund. If you are interested in adopting Boone, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Boone's adoption fee is $350. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Boone will go to his / her new home microchipped, altered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expense is greater than our adoption fees. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back. Follow us on Instagram , Facebook and Twitter

Story
Dutches My name is Dutches, and I am a cheerleader for the best qualities of the dachshund breed. I am loving. I am cute. I am fearless. I have the big eyes. I have the long ears. I have the cuddles. I have the guard dog bark. I am a six year old girl, black and tan, and very shiny!. I am friendly to everyone I meet. I love to sit and watch television. I love to play with toys. I love to wrestle with my Dachshund friends. I love to bark through the fence. I also have a couple of the qualities dachshunds are famous for that are maybe not the best. I have a couple of health issues that my new home will need to be aware of. I have had a problem with my back, and although I can walk again fine I am still working on getting better and better at walking straight and on my bladder and bowel control. My foster mom is taking me to physical therapy and doing exercise exercises with me that will help make me stronger in that way, and my new home will need to continue those. I had a severe bout of bladder stones, and now I eat a special food for the rest of my life to make sure I won’t need to have surgery on my bladder again. DREAM has helped dogs of all capability levels and we believe Dutches really easy to care for. Resource material is available for you to order as well.
