Story
A SWEET, ACTIVE & SCRUFFY FRIEND:  Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 14 lbs. Hi, my name is Holden!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I sure am happy about that! They are taking great care of me and will be treating me for heartworms for which – unfortunately – I am positive.  No worries, though – I am in the right place to get all the good care I need to be ready for my furever home.  I’m ready to meet my new family!    • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met some other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them.  So, if you have a nice doggie at home, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I recently met a boy and a girl around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts and I liked them!  A home with kids around this age or older could be a good fit for me, and of course, let’s meet!    • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a super sweet guy who is both affectionate and playful with the volunteers.  I’m also energetic and fun! True to my nature, I was a sweet boy for my shelter bath.  I can’t wait to be an excellent companion to my new family! / My energy level is 6-8, but please keep me less active while I am heartworm positive.  After my treatment and recovery period, let’s go!  • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I will be  learning lots of great doggie commands with my trainer.  Check back soon to see what great things I have learned. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / My potty habits have been good on the shelter schedule, though I have done some marking when walking in the hall.  Hopefully, my neuter will help with this and MM will be happy to give you tips on training with this too. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I am a true cuddlebug who loves to be held.  Playtime is also great, and I always enjoy when the volunteers bring out the toys.  I look forward to lots of fun play sessions with you! / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  Unfortunately, my previous owner did not keep me on a heartworm preventative, and I’m heartworm positive.  Thankfully Mostly Mutts will cover the cost of my treatment with their vet, so local adoption only. I am looking for a great home with a loving family for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  October 9, 2024, 7:15 am

Story
Right? Can you EVEN with that sweet look on his face? Buddy Ross is a total nugget; we kind of love him - but yeah, we love them alllll, so there's that. Through no fault of his own, Buddy comes to DREAM after his previous owner became unable to care for him. He's been loved his whole life, and he has a lot of love to give. He enjoys playing with toys, and gets on well with other dogs. We aren't sure about cats. Buddy is a people dog, for sure. He loves grownups and kids, and he gets along with his canine foster brothers & sisters. He wants nothing more than to be in your lap, giving you kisses. His soulful eyes will make you feel like he sees and understands everything. Buddy is an Isabella dachshund (silvery blue fur) and like most Isabellas, he has some hair loss aka alopecia. He has grown some hair since coming to DREAM and being fed quality kibble. He has a section of fur on his neck that looks like a necktie. What a jaunty little guy! He doesn't take medicine for it, but would need sun protection like anyone else if he were exposed to the elements. Buddy Ross is NOT a fan of doggo sweaters but does enjoy snuggling in a bed and under a blanket. He's accustomed to using wee-pads to do his biznezz, but we're working on getting him used to the idea of fertilizing the grass instead of going inside. He's a champ at wearing belly bands which his foster mom refers to as his “gym shorts”. When he’s wearing his gym shorts he doesn’t wet them so maybe he just loves making a fashion statement?. He is also crate trained. Buddy loves squeaky toys and bones of all kinds. (He is also a sneaky thief of paper towels and napkins. 😅 The ideal home for Buddy would be someone who wants a constant companion. If you're looking for a friendly, low-key, playful, "your own little shadow" companion look no further than Buddy Ross. Complete an application right online. If you are interested in adopting Buddy Ross, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Buddy Ross's adoption fee is $350. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Buddy Ross will go to his new home microchipped, neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. We've also given him a dental for sweet kissy breath. Almost every dog's veterinary expenses exceed our adoption fees; we are a non-profit. DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you are in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we'll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back. Follow us on Instagram , Facebook and Twitter
