Story
Approximately 2 years old and a petite 12 pounds, Rusty is a true mixed breed — if we had to guess, there's a smidge of Dachshund, Beagle, and maybe a little Chihuahua in there. With his gorgeous coloring and silky-soft fur, he's as handsome as he is sweet. Rusty is playful, deeply affectionate, and an absolute snuggle bug — he'll happily tuck himself against your neck for as long as you'll let him. He's fully house-trained and currently doing well in a foster home with other dogs, though he'd likely thrive as the only pet, since he loves having all the attention to himself. (No cats, please!) Rusty lives for car rides (safely restrained, of course) and while he'll go into a crate when needed, his real preference is snuggling under the covers with his people. He does best with companionship close by, and is still building his confidence with being left alone — so a home where someone is around more often than not would help him continue to thrive. If you're looking for a devoted little shadow who wants nothing more than to be near you, Rusty might be your perfect match! If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will be in touch! The adoption fee of $450 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age-appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm, and any other necessary medical treatment to ensure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe the breed, since our pups all come from shelters, we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *Please note that we are a foster home-based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 16, 2026, 1:38 pm
