Story
This little old lady is Ginny! She is around 8 years old and guessed to be a dachshund/beagle mix, weighing in at 23lbs. She is working on losing weight, as she is quite round. Ginny came to us after being found as a stray and never reclaimed. She's quite vocal and just wants attention and love. She enjoys being with people and going for walks. She has done well being around the other small dogs at the shelter so far. We're hoping to find her a nice home to relax in for her golden years!

Story
Wanda is a 2-year-old female dachshund mix with a very sweet demeanor. She loves to snuggle on the couch or in your lap and is perfect for anyone who can't decide between a cat or a dog, as she embodies the best qualities of both. Wanda gets along very well with other dogs, even during meal and chew times, as long as they are respectful of boundaries, and she enjoys chewing on small bones. Wanda is both housetrained and crate-trained. While she appreciates the security of her crate, she also finds the couch quite comfortable once she has warmed up. Despite loud noises, such as hammering from ongoing siding replacement at her foster home, Wanda remains calm and stress-free, often sleeping through the commotion without barking at the installers. She interacts well with children, as long as there is a soft approach. Wanda loves walks and is great on the leash, eagerly heading to the door when it's time for a stroll. Initially, Wanda had some issues with her appetite, likely due to stress and heartworm treatment, but her eating habits have improved with a mix of wet and dry food. Overall, Wanda is the perfect companion-very sweet and loving-and she has won the hearts of her foster family and neighbors. Wanda's journey started at Anderson Animal Shelter, where she arrived from a partner shelter. Despite testing positive for Heartworm, she hasn't let that dampen her spirits. The staff here believes that during Wanda's treatment and recovery, the best place for her is with a loving and forever family like yours. If you choose to adopt her, you'll have the support of the clinic staff every step of the way. The treatment process typically takes about three months, during which some simple at-home steps will keep her safe and comfortable. After that, a follow-up test six months post-treatment ensures she's back to her happy, healthy self. It's important to remember that Heartworm can only be transmitted by mosquitoes, so with proper precautions, we can keep Wanda safe and sound. With your love and care, the staff anticipates that Wanda will fully recover, and she can't wait to bring joy and laughter into your home. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.

Work has mandated a return to office and nobody at home to take care of Otto. He is excellent at crate handling, very loving, and high energy pup around one year old! We are heartbroken but know he will be happiest not left alone all day every day.
