I weigh 11 lbs, and I am looking for my forever home. Meet Walnut! This tiny boy has a big personality, a super cute underbite, and a resilient spirit after fully healing from a broken leg. Having watched both of his siblings find their forever homes, Walnut is more than ready to find his own special family. Though new people can make him nervous at first, Walnut is extremely food-motivated, and treats are the ultimate key to his heart. Once he feels comfortable, he is a playful, loving, and loyal little companion who does a joyous spin whenever he gets excited. Walnut is still getting the hang of potty training, but he is good about telling you when he needs to go outside. When it is time to unwind, he is a world-class cuddler who even enjoys riding around in a cozy pet sling. Give this sweet boy a little time and love, and you will have a devoted friend for life. Adoption Donation: $500 All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested (if age appropriate), and up-to-date on preventatives at the time of adoption. Meet Missy, a precious pup thought to be a Dachshund-Beagle Mix. She’s estimated to be 6 – 8 years old and is currently about 32 lbs…after following a heavy-duty weight loss plan!! Missy joined BAARK in July, obviously neglected, grossly overweight, and apparently over-bred as well. Once joining BAARK, she spent a few months getting healthy…first, removal of a whole lot of bladder stones that took over her bladder, so much so, that when she urinated, stones could be seen in her urine. We cannot imagine how painful that must have been, and for how long! Since her cystotomy, Missy has been doing great and retraining herself to hold her urine until it’s time to go outside. Her second series of surgeries included her spay along with removal of several mammary masses, all thankfully benign. During these months, Missy has lost about 10 lbs. She had been so overweight that she could not walk without dragging her belly on the ground. She’s come a long way since those days. Today Missy is active, enjoys the company of other dogs in her foster home, and loves plenty of attention from people she knows, as well as new friends she meets along the way!! Missy is good with other dogs. She is not a huge cuddler but might learn to become one, if her new family enjoys cuddling her…on her terms! She absolutely loves going on road trips or running errands with her foster family; she rides well in the car. Missy can be a bit of a puller when walking on a leash….training and more experience needed here! When left home alone Missy is fine without being confined. She is not a fan of being crated. An ideal home for Missy is with a family who can give her plenty of attention and include her in all family activities. A moderately active family with older children and possibly a canine friend would be ideal for her. Missy’s new family must ensure she is not overfed not only because we’d hate to see her lapse into morbid obesity again; but also obesity is simply unhealthy and puts unnecessary stress on her short legs and her joints. Our vets recommend she eat Royal Canin Urinary SO diet to reduce the likelihood of recurrence of bladder stones. At present Missy is in great overall health. She is up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, heart worm tested and on year-round heart worm preventative.
