Story
Meet Missy & Rusty! These sweet bonded 10 year old seniors came into our rescue about six weeks ago after their owner passed away, and sadly, they were left boarding at a local veterinary clinic for over a month with nowhere to go. When we were asked if we could help, the answer was an easy yes. Missy and Rusty are wonderful, easygoing dogs who have quickly settled in here at the rescue. They are friendly, affectionate, and get along great with everyone they meet. They would make amazing companions for someone looking for a pair of loving, low-maintenance pups. Missy and Rusty do eat a special diet to help manage some skin issues, and sweet Missy recently underwent a dental procedure where she had 23 teeth removed. Despite that, she is doing great and feeling much better! Both dogs are healthy, happy, and up to date on all of their veterinary care. After losing their family, we are committed to finding them a forever home where they can stay together and spend their golden years surrounded by love. If you are interested in adopting this adorable bonded pair, please fill out an adoption application: https://form.jotform.com/241745142308149   to adopt please fill out an application. 20.00 application fee applies  https://www.chapmansdox.com/adoptAugust 13, 2026, 12:27 pm

Story
Meet Paisley!  She is a dachshund yorkie mix who is 12 years old and weighs 12 pounds. Paisley is spayed, had dental surgery(lost 4 teeth), and has some skin issues that we have treated with antibiotics and apoquel.  She will most likely need to take the allergy meds her entire life and could possibly have some more skin issues down the road.  Other than the skin issues, she is a very healthy girl and don't let her age fool you! Paisley is very active and super sweet!!  No small children, that is why she was surrendered.  Here is what her owner had to say about her to set her up for success in her new, forever home... She answers to Paisley, Paisley Anne, P, P Anne, and Pinot (Grigio)  Her birthday is 10-23-2014 She is chipped (I can send a picture of the info I have for that) She does “fancy” which is the typical dachshund begging thing where she stands up on her back legs/butt She also plays dead. You just have to “shoot her” and then say “Paisleys dead” She likes cuddling but not so much petting since she’s so itchy. She will sleep on a pillow by your head. She is good with cats she kinda just ignores them She’s okay with other dogs as long as they’re not big. She gets small dog syndrome around bigger dogs She likes toys until she “kills” the squeaker then she could care less She’s house broken as long as you stay on top of letting her outside. She won’t really run away if she gets out the door but she’s not the kind of dog to stay close by if that makes sense.  She does not like little kids. She acts like she likes car rides until she gets in the car. Then she gets anxious and will whine most of the ride. She is spayed (she has the little green tattoo on her belly) She is crate trained and sometimes prefers to “hide” in one when she needs alone time. I think that’s everything that I can think of. I trust she’s going to find the very best home. Thank you for taking her ❤️ Here is the link to apply for Paisley:  https://form.jotform.com/241745142308149August 13, 2026, 12:27 pm

Story
Meet Binah  - pronounced BEE-nuh Binah is a 2-year-old, 13-pound Dachshund mix who is ready to leave motherhood behind and start the next chapter of her life with a family of her very own. Around the Fourth of July, Binah welcomed a litter of puppies into the world and has done a wonderful job raising them. Now that her puppies are becoming independent, it's finally her turn to be spoiled, loved, and enjoy life as someone's cherished companion. We don't know much about Binah's life before coming into rescue, but we do know she has a fun, loving personality. Once she gets to know you, she absolutely enjoys being around her people and isn't the least bit intimidated by big dogs. She has settled in well to her foster home and has shown that she's full of confidence and character. Because we haven't had the opportunity to see Binah interact with young children or cats, we can't say how she would do in those situations. Families with small children should know that Binah is very food motivated and has no problem helping herself if food is within reach! She'll happily snatch an unattended snack if given the chance, so supervision around mealtimes is recommended. Binah also loves her people so much that she'll try to follow them wherever they go. She has a tendency to dart out an open door if given the opportunity, so her future family will need to be mindful about keeping doors and gates secure while she learns the routine of her new home. If you're looking for a small dog with a big personality, plenty of love to give, and a little bit of Dachshund determination, Binah may be the perfect match. She's ready to leave her mama duties behind and become the center of someone's world.  If you are interested in adopting Binah, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet's age.   **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. ** August 12, 2026, 8:53 pm

Story
Rosie is a great dog, she loves playing with puppies and naps. She loves swimming and playing fetch in the water. I got her when she was 8 weeks and she’s very much used to long car rides/road trips. She would benefit best from someone who works at home because she likes to just hang out wherever people are. She is house trained and if you set up and indoor grass pad she will only use that when you’re gone. She’s also got a coat like silk and is very soft. Due to changes in living situation I’m no longer able to keep her but she’s an amazing dog and I just want her to go to a loving home.
