Story
Meet Mr. Scruffles, the ultimate furry best friend! This 3-year-old, 25-pound cutie will steal your heart - trust me, he has stolen ours! Mr. Scruffles is the perfect mix of playful and cuddly. One moment, he’s zooming around the yard, playing catch, or winning a game of tug-of-war, and the next, he’s curled up on the couch, soaking up belly rubs. He’s the ideal companion for both adventure and relaxation. He’s crate trained, potty trained, and making great progress with leash training. Mr. Scruffles is also cat-friendly and gets along well with other dogs after a slow introduction. Currently, he shares his foster home with two other dogs and loves their company, but he would also thrive as an only dog—as long as he has his beloved humans by his side. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and endlessly charming companion, Mr. Scruffles is your guy! --- To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption-Process and apply directly here: https://fs26.formsite.com/htrnp/a2k3lsooud/index.html

Story
Meet Niko! This ~9-10 month-old cutie is a Dachshund and Jack Russell mix with the most beautiful Merle coat you’ve ever seen. At just 13 lbs, Niko is a lovable low rider with a long body, short legs, and a heart full of affection. Niko is the total package—friendly, playful, and sweet as can be. He adores being around people, is wonderful with kids, and gets along great with other dogs. He enjoys outdoor adventures (he’s a certified good boy on walks!), playing with toys, and soaking up all the snuggles he can get. He’s crate trained, sleeps through the night like a champ, and hasn’t had a single accident in his foster home. Niko’s easygoing personality and lovable nature make him an ideal addition to just about any family. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who’s equal parts playful and cuddly, Niko is ready to be your new best friend! --- To apply to adopt, please follow the steps for adoption on HalfwayThereRescue.com/Adoption-Process and apply directly here: https://fs26.formsite.com/htrnp/a2k3lsooud/index.html

Story
Barkley is a 1 year old neutered male who is up-to-date on vaccinations. Barkley’s mother is a black wired haired Dachshund (pictured). We don’t know anything about his father, but suspected to be some form of Pit Bull  Terrier mix. He is full grown at 37 pounds. Barkley was abandoned along with his mother and 7 younger siblings. He is very shy around people and new scenery. He runs and hides if he thinks there is trouble. He had never been walked or groomed but now loves both. Barkley is the sweetest dog ever. He is calm and gentle. He let 7 rowdy puppies jump all over him. He is house trained, but does not bark to go outside. In fact, he barely barks at all and it has taken awhile for him to learn it is okay to eat, as his mother fought him for food. Barkley needs to be independent away from his mother so that he can be a dog. We don’t know how he is with cats. He goes to dog daycare for socialization.    If you are interested in adopting Barkley, please submit an inquiry directly to Greater Charlotte SPCA by visiting charlottespca.org/adopt. The adoption amount is a suggested donation of $200 to $300 dollars based on the pet’s age.      **Because our rescue is composed entirely of volunteers, local applications will take precedence. We will accept out of town applications, but any family is responsible for coming to Charlotte to complete a meet and greet. All out of town applicants will also have to be willing to drive to Charlotte to pick up the pet as soon as they are approved to adopt. **  May 6, 2025, 6:12 pm

Story
Please read ALL of this listing prior to asking questions. If you are interested in Beaux and feel that you would be a good match for her, you must first fill out an application here (please copy and paste the link): https://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption-application/ After we receive your application we will contact you... thank you! Beaux is a beautiful chocolate and tan, 9-year-old Dachshund who is ready for her forever home. She came to us paralyzed, but quickly regained use of her legs, and can now run and play to her heart's content! This little Doxie has some trouble being still. Even when she’s really tired, she still wants to keep going. And she absolutely LOVES to ride -- in a car, a boat, wheelbarrow, or backpack. As long as she isn't left in the house, she’s a happy little camper! Although Beaux does very well with the other dogs in her foster family, she is capable of entertaining herself and probably would do well without another canine companion, as long as she has human companionship. Beaux also LOVES children! Like most Dachshunds, she is highly intelligent... and a bit more mischievous than your average pup. Because of Beaux’s high energy level, she tries to go up and down stairs, hop off the furniture, etc. -- things that Dachshund's really aren't supposed to do. She would do best in a home with a fenced yard, so she can run and explore safely. Her foster home has a fenced yard with a doggie door. Her foster parents have not taught her to walk on a leash, which is one thing we're hoping her new family will be able and willing to do for her. Beaux is housetrained, but her back injury affected her bladder-control and at times she may dribble when she walks toward the door. She wears a doggie diaper most of the time in her foster home. Like most Dachshund's, Beaux has a great appetite! She enjoys carrots and other veggies… and she loves watermelon. She has a few favorite chew toys -- one of which is a golf ball! Beaux is healthy and isn't currently on any special medications other than a supplement for joint support. She is current on her Distemper/Parvo and Rabies vaccine and is spayed, microchipped, Heartworm tested, and had her teeth cleaned. She tested negative for Heartworms, and is on Heartguard for Heartworm prevention. Beaux's adoption fee is $400.00. We accept checks or cash for adoption fees... sorry, we do not take cards. Beaux is a loving, active, and smart little girl who deserves only the best home and family! If you feel that Beaux would be a good match for your family, please submit an application by going to our website foreverhomek9rescue.org for an application and email the completed application to us at foreverhomek9rescue@yahoo.com. You can also submit an application by going to: https://foreverhomek9rescue.org/adoption-application/ (cut and paste). Forever Home Canine Rescue offers a three-week trial period with all of our adoptions, just to be sure that the pet is a good match for the adopting family. The fee is refunded if the adoption does not work out within the trial period. We want to be sure that each of our pets will have their perfect 'forever' home! Although Forever Home Canine Rescue adopts out-of-state, we never ship or transport our pets. An approved adopter must come to North Carolina to meet their new canine companion and then take him/her back home with them.
