Story
Meet Rusty!  Hi, I’m Rusty! I’m around 1–2 years old, with big puppy energy! I’m curious about everything- I love to play, explore, and meet new people. And when I’m ready to wind down, I’m convinced I’m a 33-pound lap dog. My favorite place is right in your lap getting all the cuddles! I’m still working on my manners and commands, but I’ve already mastered “shake” (and I’m VERY proud of it!). I’m a smart boy who is learning more every day.  Dog-friendly: I do great with other dogs and LOVE to play! I’d probably be happiest with another playful dog who can help me burn off some of this energy.  Adventure buddy: I’m great on a leash and might even have what it takes to become your future running buddy!  Kids: I do well with older kids. Younger kids are a little more of an unknown because I get SO excited and love attention, which can make me a little jumpy. I’d likely do best with kids who are comfortable around an energetic pup. Crate trained: I’m a crate champ! I eat, sleep, and relax in my crate and stay there when my foster family leaves. I’m still learning the word “crate,” but toss a treat inside and I’m happy to hop right in!  Car rides: Love them! Just tell me where we’re going!  Cats: I haven't been around cats yet, so my foster family isn’t sure how I’d do.  Still learning: I’m a young guy with plenty of puppy energy, so I’m still working on my manners, keeping all four paws on the floor when I’m excited, and perfecting my potty habits. I’m mostly potty trained but may occasionally mark inside, so I’ll need a family who is patient and willing to keep helping me learn. If you’re looking for a goofy, affectionate, playful pup who will keep you laughing, I just might be your guy!    Follow along with all my other adventures on Instagram: @matchmakermads  Every PAWS dog is loved, vetted, and ready for a fresh start September 4, 2026, 5:14 pm

Story
Little body with a big personality. Dolly is a sweet girl who likes to play and cuddle with her people. Shes smart and likes to do tricks but she also has selective hearing. She is a great dog ! We are heart broken to have to come to this decision because she is a great dog, but for her benefit and our cats, we need to re-home her. She wants to be friends with the cat so bad…… the cat however, cannot stand her. We adopted dolly when she was 9 weeks old, she is 8 months now and a good little dog, but we are busier and busier each month with school, a new job and a longer commute. I have less support than I had thought and she has some separation anxiety. She does well with other dogs and kids but would do better with older kids. She is skittish and vocal about her dislike of men, well most men. She takes longer to warm up to them than anyone else. She has been crate trained since we brought her home and does very well at night. Less so during the day.

Story
Herk is a 6-year-old red purebred dachshund, neutered, calm, and affectionate. He bonds closely with his people, thrives on attention, and needs daily walks. Columbus, Ohio area only. Adults-only home, no children, no other pets. Experienced pet owners only. We're rehoming him due to our son's severe dog allergies. Herk had a liver shunt repair (2020) and back surgery (2025), both fully recovered. Standard dachshund back care required: no jumping, limited stairs, no rough play. He eats The Farmer's Dog (turkey, beef, pork) twice daily with pumpkin. No chicken due to a confirmed allergy. Vet records available.

Story
This handsome little guy is Tator. He is a Chiweenie and weighs about 15 lbs. He is full grown. Tator was surrendered by an owner who could no longer care for him, but he was clearly very loved. Tator is good with cats and dogs. He is crate trained and currently is trained to go potty on pads. His foster is working on transitioning him to go potty outside, but the adopter will need to be prepared to continue his house training. He is very sweet and affectionate. Tator would be a great companion for anyone. We are looking for a foster or foster to adopt for Tator so we can complete his vetting with our partner veterinarians in the Columbus area. He still needs to be neutered. Tator is 7 months old. The adoption fee for Tator is $350 and includes the core vaccines and the neuter surgery at our partner veterinarian and a microchip. Apply to meet this sweet little guy at ricopetrecovery.org
