Story
Dog's Name: ForemanGender: Male Current Age: 1 yearCurrent Age Range: Young Adult (6 months to 1 year) Current Weight: 17 lbsExpected Adult Size: Small (under 25 lbs) Breed: Dachshund / Pekingese / Terrier mix Energy Level: Medium-High Dog Friendly: Yes, and can have other dogs in the home or can be an only dog. Cat Friendly: No Kids: Yes, any age Apartment Friendly: No Fence Requirements: Physical fence preferred but not required with regular walks/exercise Crate Trained: He has learned to be OK in the crate, but occasionally has bouts of barking. Potty Trained: Not fully potty trained, working on it Ideal Home / Adopter: Foreman is a grab-life-by-the-reins-and-leave-no-trail-unblazed type of guy! He is friendly, social, and a total go-getter. He is not an energizer bunny, though. He enjoys calm downtime and settles in nicely without much help, but he will never say no to an adventure. Want to hike, road trip, or check out happy hour? Foreman already has his go bag packed. Likes: Puzzle toys, Kongs, dogs, adventures, love and attention, food, kids, car rides, and fetch! Dislikes: Cats. He is not aggressive, but he does not understand that they are not interested in being friends. He has also come a long way with crate training, though he may still bark a bit before settling down. Foreman is sweet, takes direction and correction very well, and loves pretty much everyone he meets. He is overzealous with cats and, although he would love having them around, cats definitely would not enjoy him as a roommate. He is used to living with other dogs and would likely thrive with a playful canine buddy, though he could also do well as an only dog. Kids are totally cool too! Foreman is almost housebroken with no marking behavior and loves puzzle toys and long-lasting chews. With his zest for life, he can also be a little chatty and is not afraid to let you know what he sees. He is mostly quiet in the home, but may bark occasionally in the crate or out in the yard. Foreman has the cutest little legs, about 2.5 inches long, and the curliest tail! He is a hilarious mix with a personality larger than life. He truly sees the best in every situation.  All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, deworming, and the dog will be current on flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. ##2727942##

Story
Sassy is a 4-year-3-month-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix weighing 11 pounds. Sassy has been surrendered twice. She is very nervous and fearful with people and situations she is unsure of. A lot of work will need to be done to earn her trust. Once she trusts you you'll see a happy, cuddly girl who likes to be by your side and give kisses. Sassy needs another dog in the home who is confident and can teach her to trust. She is great with other dogs, quick to tell them if they are to much for her. Sassy loves to go for walks, loves belly rubs (once you've earned her trust), loves her toys and chasing them. She's used to being on the furniture, because she'll be stuck to you like velcro! She's happy to be carried around like a queen (if not she is under your feet). Sassy does not like children (they are to loud and fast for her). If you've read this far we hope you have the heart and patience to be the right fit for Sassy. Multiple visits to the shelter will be required before she can leave so she can establish trust with her adopter. She is housebroken and crate trained. Fearful of load noises and car rides. Good watch dog.Her adoption fee is $150, this includes her spay, heartworm test, vaccines current, deworming, heartworm/flea prevention, and microchipped. Her dog license is also required to be purchased for Sandusky County residents at time of adoption, which is an additional $20.75. Please visit the shelter to meet her, we show dogs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 1pm-4:30pm, and the 2nd and 4th Saturday 1pm-3:30pm. Once you have visited the shelter, you are then eligible to submit an adoption application for review. Please note, we do not offer same-day adoptions and there is a $10 non-refundable application fee.Come and meet your new best friend today! The Humane Society of Sandusky County is open Monday -Friday 1pm - 5pm and Saturdays from 1pm - 4pm. Also, be sure to check us out on FaceBook!
