Wherever you are, that’s where Sitka wants to be. She enjoys playing with her sister and foster sister, but their energy can be a bit much for her tender soul. Sitka is perfectly happy entertaining herself or lounging with the big dogs—she’s easygoing and goes with the flow. Sitka is crate trained and dog door savvy, and she’s making great progress with potty training. Like her sister Juno, she’s smart and food motivated, but she’s just as happy to learn for love and praise. (That said… she does expect her bedtime treat) If you’re looking for a calm, loving companion who just wants to be your shadow, Sitka is your girl. Available through Legacy of Hope Dog Rescue

Say hello to my little friend Juno is a 4-month-old dachshund/shepherd mix with a personality much bigger than her tiny frame. This spunky girl loves romping outside, chasing her sister through the house, and diving headfirst into the toy box. When she’s all tuckered out, she’s an expert cuddler—because those short legs take her far and fast, and naps are well earned. And trust me… if you’ve never seen a dachshund mix run, you’re missing out. Juno is crate trained, almost fully potty trained, and does great with a dog door (she just occasionally forgets why she went out in the first place ). She’s smart, food-motivated, and eager to learn—so keeping her on healthy treats will be key, even if a little extra wiggle is tempting. Available through Legacy of Hope Dog Rescue

Long story. But it's his story. Once upon a time, 3 dachshund mix puppies came to Legacy of Hope. They had been tossed off a bridge. One of them, later named Sully, was injured. His jaw was dislocated and he was in pain. He was treated, and he went on to be adopted into a loving family. For 4 years he lived the dream. A family, home. Friends. Then he jumped off the bed and injured his back. Now named Mike, he was diagnosed with IVDD. Intervertebral Disc Disease. IVDD is when these discs deteriorate (calcify/harden), wherein they become susceptible to bulging or bursting - especially with hard impacts (jumping off a couch, steps, rough play, etc). The cost of surgery is exorbitant, and the time frame for it is minimal. With no guarantee of success. Mike's family did all they could to avoid returning him. They love him. He is family. But the home ,yard and work schedule made it impossible . Mike is in his original foster home, Tammy is taking great care of him. Dr. Martin has been doing acupuncture on him a few times a week. He has his chair and his drag bag. And he is available for adoption. Bear in mind that he is not a novelty, probably not for a first time handicapped pet owner. He needs a home with people who will take care of all his needs, medical or otherwise. He is a loving boy, good with kids and dogs Legacy of Hope Dog Rescue
