Winston was not well socialized and is anxious about loud noises and strange people. For this reason, we have him in training to help him with new people and everyday situations. We want to keep him in neighboring states so he can be picked up from the trainer, and she can help them should they need help with him if he backslides. In his foster home, he is a great dog, happy, and loves to play with his foster people and the foster female. We are unsure about male dogs; that is to be determined with the trainer, who he will go to on the 29th. He is a small standard wire, and we think he would do great with another small to medium-sized female. Our must-haves for adorable Winston include: A fenced yard Another small- to medium-sized, young female to play with Someone who understands the pack mentality No apartments, high-rises, condos, or anything with shared walls If you are interested in him, please contact us, and we will let you know how his training is going after the 15th of April. We must let the training facility working with him a bit to see what needs to be worked on. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. He is a very sweet little guy who likes to be with you at all times. He is very quiet, doesn't make a sound, unless he can't see you. He is potty trained on puppy pads and going outside. He does have an occasional accident, but very rarely. He can use a doggie door with no problems. Gunter has two foster siblings whom he follows around but doesn't really play with. He will carry a squeaky toy around like a prize! Gunter has been around his two foster siblings (Chihuahuas) and a few other dogs and doesn't seem to mind any of them. He's also been around our cat, which he has no interest in. He sleeps all night in his kennel and curls up and sleeps in his seat on car rides. Gunter goes to work with me every day and is as quiet as a mouse. He doesn't chew on things or get into anything. With his fur being a blue and tan-dilute, he does have some pattern baldness and will be prone to sunburn, so t-shirts or manly muscle shirts should be a part of his wardrobe. In winter, Gunter will be more sensitive to cold temperatures than other dogs and would need to wear coats and sweaters. But hey, dressing your pup in cute shirts and sweaters is just one of the fun things about having a Doxie! Our must-haves for sweet Gunter include: A fenced yard  Another younger to adult well-socialized dog for Gunter to hang with. No big dogs since he's never been around them. Someone with breeder dog experience is a plus No apartments, high-rises, or condos, please Gunter is a very well-behaved dog and would be perfect for someone who wants a constant companion! ============= Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Max is a small standard with a zest for life.  He is sweet and calm - an ideal partner for relaxing nights in or long walks through the neighborhood.  He adores spending time with you, always by your side and eager to soak up every moment.  You’ll quickly find that you’re the most fascinating person in his world! This lovable pup is already housebroken and accustomed to using a doggie door.  He’s intelligent and quick to learn, responding well to commands.  Max enjoys cozy cuddle sessions while you watch TV, read or meditate, often snuggling under the covers at bedtime before migrating to his favorite cushy chair or dog bed for a good night’s sleep.  One of Max’s endearing quirks is his playful obsession with his toys.  He loves to carry them around squeaking and chewing as he goes and will happily decorate your living space with them. Unlike other dachshunds, Max isn’t inclined to destroy his toys - he simply enjoys their company! When it’s time for walks, Max approaches the world with uncontainable excitement making it feel like you’re pulling a sled full of happy huskies.  With some patience and training, he can learn to walk more calmly on a leash ensuring enjoyable outings for both of you. No dog is perfect, but Max comes remarkably close.  He was cherished by his previous owners and is now ready to share that love with his forever family.  If you’re looking to add a warm, wonderful companion to your life and have the time and energy to help Max enjoy the great outdoors, we encourage you to apply to adopt him. Our must-haves for fun-loving Max include: A fenced yard is a must Another smaller young dog for him to play with as he does love to play with other dogs and toys Someone who can be home some with him or work from home The adopter must be active; no couch potatoes need apply No apartments, high-rises, or condos If you meet these requirements and want to add to your pack, then now is the time to apply for Max ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. He was one of three dogs from the home - one has been adopted, and Snoopy, along with Charlie, is still looking for that special forever home. Sadly, Charlie is Heartworm positive and will not be able to go to his forever home until the middle of August. He is absolutely worth the wait, as he is such a great dog! Charlie does not know a stranger. He is a friendly, happy boy. You are instantly his friend, and he lets you know that by wagging his tail and running up to you to say “Hi.” We are not sure how he would do with cats, so we said “no” to cats, but he is great with other dogs, male or female. He does not really care for a kennel, but would be fine left unattended in a room or house while you run out to do some errands. Sadly, because of poor dental care, he has lost all his teeth except his lower canines. She has met all the neighbors on her walks and has been polite and friendly to everyone she has met. She responds eagerly when strangers pet and talk to her. She barks appropriately when someone comes to the door, otherwise she is quiet. Her favorite place is sitting in a sunbeam indoors or out. She will happily sit on your lap and loves to swing on the glider outside. When she is ready for bed, she voluntarily goes into her kennel.
