Bell was terrified, but after her babies were born, she settled in and learned to trust her foster mom. We think she had been abused in the past and passed around from one temporary living situation to another. Once you gain her trust, Bell is the most loving dog you’ll ever meet, but you have to earn that trust. It does not happen overnight. The foster mom just took her time, giving Bell space and letting her know that she was safe. Our must-haves for sweet Bell include: A fenced yard and maybe a doggie door Another small, young dog to keep her company when you need to be away Someone with patience and experience with an unsocialized dog who has possibly been abused No apartments, high-rises, condos, or duplexes If you meet these “must-haves” or want more info on Bell, please email her foster mom. She will be happy to let you know more about this sweet girl who needs that loving forever home. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. A Good Samaritan rescued him when she saw he had on a Shock Collar, and his neck was all bloody. She just could not leave him with that family. She took him home but he did not get along with her two males and did not like chickens or cats. So, she asked us to take him. Talk about SWEET!!! He is loving and friendly to people, and you can just tell he wants to be held and cherished, and that is where you come in. He will follow you everywhere by sound and smell, just not sight. It was confirmed by our vet that he is blind but do not feel sorry for him; he’s not sorry since it’s the only thing he’s known. But please make his story a happy one, please apply to adopt him! Our must-haves for sweet Obie include: A fenced yard is a must Someone who is home quite a bit as he loves his people but he will patiently wait for you to get home He can be an only dog or a pal around with a submissive female Someone who has experience with blind dogs is preferred and the best for him No apartments, high-rises, or condos (anything with shared walls) No stairs (meaning no bi- or tri-level homes); any other stairs, such as those to the yard, must be blocked off He’s waiting, please don’t make him wait too long, you will not regret it. Everyone that meets him knows how sweet he is. Also, if you are not within driving distance, we will help with transport. His Halo will go with him to his new home to use when he’s in strange places, to help him not run into things.    ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Her mom, whom Zana had laid in bed with, passed away, and the daughter took her in. She had her for a year, but now Zana and the toddler in the family don't get along, so Zana had to be surrendered to us to find her final home. Could that be you? This little girl is so sweet, and she looked so confused when she first came to us. She is ready for a new home now, and we want her to have the right one. She would prefer a home with another young small dog for her to pal around with when you are gone and no children in the home who are under ten years. She is overweight, but we are working to get the weight off. During a dental, she lost the rest of her teeth except the two bottom teeth. She will need softened Metabolic until she loses weight, and then she can go to hard kibble small bites. Please don't let her age stop you as she is very healthy. She does need someone willing to walk her and who also has a fenced yard. She’s always been in a home with a yard. No apartments, high-rises, or condos. She could bark at noises, and then complaints would happen, and she’d be returned to us.  ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. At some time during her life, she has either been abused or hit in the head. When she was vetted, the veterinarian said that she had nerve damage to the side of her face. Her nose goes a little to the right of her face, and her eyes water some. This does not in any way hinder her eating or chewing. When Wendy came to the rescue, she was at 20.72 pounds, and she is now on a diet. She is down to 18 pounds and needs to lose two more pounds to get to her ideal weight. If you are not committed to helping Wendy lose the rest of the weight that she needs to, please do not submit an application for her. Wendy is a very friendly, happy, and sweet little girl! She loves to run the fenced-in yard chasing squirrels, birds, and any other wildlife. Since her prey drive is so high, a fenced yard is a must-have. She loves to bark at all noises, real or imagined. Wendy gets along great with her three foster sisters and loves running around with them outside. She loves to snuggle and lay in your lap when you are relaxing on the couch. Wendy is crated at night but would love to sleep in the Big Bed. I love my foster brother.  A couple of my favorite things are car rides and walks!  I love any attention and especially getting my belly rubbed. I can't wait to settle in my furever home and be a couch bum! BIO:   Sasha is a 10-year-old super spunky female with a red dapple smooth coat. She weighs about 15.5 pounds. She came to us from middle Tennessee when the family did not want her after her owner passed away. Sasha is a sweet girl, friendly, happy, and gets along with other dogs, except she may have a problem with other alpha females because, you see, she is alpha. It would be best for her to go to a home with a small male adult dog.  A home with a submissive female might be ok. You just cannot let her think she is going to be above the other female in the pack. She currently resides with an 8-year-old male beagle mix. They have become great friends. This little one loves to sunbathe. She will stretch out on a dog bed or pillow and watch the outside or lay outside on the deck. She enjoys scouring the yard for any new scents that may have been left there. She enjoys short walks. Sasha likes to cuddle and absolutely loves any kind of blanket. She will burrow and play with the blanket then take a power nap with it. Sasha likes to chew on small Nylabones. She of course loves all treats and food. She is the kindest girl and has never had any food or treat aggression. She loves to ride in the car and meet new people!   Sasha has a scar all the way down her back from a chemical burn, probably from the application of a cheap flea and tick medicine but this does not change the fact that she is one red haired beauty! Our must-haves for sweet Sasha include: A fenced yard A male or submissive female sibling to keep her company if you work Someone who can be home more often than not because she enjoys humans No apartments, high-rises, or condos since she will bark when she sees or hears things If your family is looking for another family member and you meet all these requirements, then please give Sasha the home she deserves.  Sasha is the bestest girl and we can't wait for her to find her furever home!   ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime.
