Story
I adopted Lucifer about 2 years ago from an understaffed shelter that said he was found abandoned roaming in a field. He was left in the kennel at the shelter for way too long at a time which has made him a tad needy for attention. Over time, my eldest dog and the two cats my partner brought in our move, are struggling with Luci’s energy and rough housing. He doesn’t do anything destructive to people property, with the glaring exception of food, trash, and COFFEE. He loves coffee. Luci-goose has a hard time outside the home. He doesn’t always feel as safe around people or animals on walks, or in the park. Until he gets some good training, it’s a good idea for him to meet new creatures in a familiar place and in his comfort zone. When this happens, he has no issue with anyone and is his big, goofy, sweet excitable self. Goose is all about ball. He’s extremely food and ball motivated making it easy to train, in theory, and expend energy. In theory. 😅

Story
Sheila is a clever herder, active, loyal and demanding. She wants to be an important part of her person's life. A loving woman adopted her from a high-kill shelter on a free adoption day - with the purpose of saving her life - but soon thereafter many of life's twists and turns went south and her rescuer was way over her head, and seeking help. Sheila is special, and will be a great dog for someone also special!

Story
Pazza is a loving and loyal companion. She lost her person, was taken in by a friend ... needed a place, a safe haven, so here she is at Milo! Pazza is good off leash with good recall, her hearing, eyesight and mobility are good. A mellow walking companion, lays nearby in the home, has good house manners. She so wants to have a person again. Pazza is fine with other dogs, though would love being someone's one and only, she can share. She is affectionate and loves attention.

Story
Butterscotch definitely lives up to her name because she is sweet as can be! While shy at first meeting, she warms up and loves to come sit in her person's lap and absolutely adores belly rubs. She can be friendly with other dogs but is not a social butterfly. She is truly a people person and might prefer living as an only dog! Butterscotch is in a foster home with two older kids (12 & 17) whom she adores. She follows the 12 yo around and sleeps right next to her bed. Sweet Butterscotch already is potty trained, sleeps through the whole night, rarely barks and has shown no separation anxiety. She is the perfect travel sized dog coming in at around 20 pounds. This poor girl has had a bit of a ruff start to life so she first comes across a little timid and skittish, but once she comes out of her shell she is a complete sweetheart!

Story
Raine is a 10-month-old male who will shower you with love! He’s a sweet boy who gets along with his foster siblings (male and female dogs), does well with housetraining when on a good schedule, and likes to play like any young GSP! Raine does well in his crate for a few hours a day and enjoys older children. He wants a home committed to his training – people who have the time, patience, and energy to give him! Raine is ready to shine. If you enjoy training, enrichment, and exercise and are ready to bring out the best in him, Raine is ready to join your home and be your new best friend! Note: Raine has a slightly droopy left eye – it’s a condition called “idiopathic Horner’s Syndrome.” The cause is not known and it will most likely improve by itself over time. Monitoring by a vet is recommended. Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Raine's been up to, check out his/her posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
Meet our pint-sized dynamo Gideon, at 7 years young he is the master of finding snug spots, even if it means claiming the tiniest corner of the room. You’ll often catch him cozying up in armchairs, making himself at home in the most adorable fashion and he is a true cuddle bug. Despite the occasional spillage, in true GSP fashion, from his water bowl, he’s tidy for a furry friend. Now, onto his latest escapade – the spin! Picture this: he’s giving it his all, twirling around with enthusiasm, mastering the art of the spin about half the time. It’s a work in progress, but oh-so-endearing to witness his determination. But wait, there’s more! Gideon is making strides in independence, willingly trotting into his crate, even with his trusted human out of sight. He also lets his human know when it’s time to head outside for his potty break. When it comes to outdoor adventures, he’s becoming quite the explorer. His recall is improving by leaps and bounds, and he’s gaining confidence in the backyard, especially with a watchful eye nearby. With each passing day, his outdoor excursions are extending, from a mere five minutes to a solid half-hour of supervised playtime. Yet, amidst all these triumphs, one thing remains unchanged – his vocal nature. This little chatterbox has a lot to say and isn’t shy about letting everyone know. But hey, who can blame him for wanting to share his thoughts with the world? If Gideon seems like he could fit into your life and family, please apply to adopt him today! He’s ready to make you very happy!
