Story
Raine is a 10-month-old male who will shower you with love! He’s a sweet boy who gets along with his foster siblings (male and female dogs), does well with housetraining when on a good schedule, and likes to play like any young GSP! Raine does well in his crate for a few hours a day and enjoys older children. He wants a home committed to his training – people who have the time, patience, and energy to give him! Raine is ready to shine. If you enjoy training, enrichment, and exercise and are ready to bring out the best in him, Raine is ready to join your home and be your new best friend! Note: Raine has a slightly droopy left eye – it’s a condition called “idiopathic Horner’s Syndrome.” The cause is not known and it will most likely improve by itself over time. Monitoring by a vet is recommended. Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Raine's been up to, check out his/her posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
Good news! Esuda is now available for adoption to homes in the western US and Canada! Interested parties outside Northern California need to be willing to drive to the foster home’s location for an in-person meeting prior to or in conjunction with pick-up. Please note that we do not ship dogs. E-Suda. It means, “My Six”; the one who has my back. Meet Esuda, who lives up to his namesake. Esuda is the type of dog that wants to live a quiet life; just be there at home, hang out with his family, and take care of the property. It is a joy to watch Esuda work the field, nose to the ground. He comes from an AKC-registered bloodline and has the stature and instincts to show for it. Esuda is only 5 years old, strong and robust, but also a bit of an old soul. He is quiet and introspective at home and cherishes the bond he has with his person. Therefore he is looking for a calm household, without a bunch of strangers coming and going; without social pressures. Esuda thoroughly enjoys romping and playing, but only with his family – people he knows and has come to trust. Once you have his trust, Esuda has your back. Esuda likes to hang out at home, so hopefully, you’ll live in an outdoorsy place. The middle of a squirrel sanctuary will be just fine, thank you very much. He loves going out for a morning jaunt, but only if it is in a rural place where he does not need to worry about other dogs. They are just too unpredictable! So, home with his family, keeping watch over the property, and his life is full. Esuda is quiet and settled when in his kennel but he feels more comfortable when not confined. That’s why we appreciate that he can be trusted to roam free in or out of the house when his people are away. He does not counter-surf or chew on people things. He has learned quickly who needs to be barked at (like the lawn guy with that loud blower on his back) and who is OK (the next-door neighbor who has a garden along the property line). Esuda is cautious but curious, and a good communicator. He hopes to find a human companion that will be patient and communicative as well. Then he’ll have your back. Please note that Esuda has been diagnosed with low thyroid function. After a trial period without medication, we saw that he suffered without it. The prescription costs only $13 per month, and he will require the pill twice every day. If you’re that special person who wants to hang out at home with your best buddy, take a look at Esuda. Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Esuda's been up to, check out his/her posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
Looking for that sweet Spot? This gentle almost 3-year-old male GSP mix was picked up by animal control. He seemed lost, confused, and a tad scared with a few cuts around his armpits from the harness he had on. We jumped at the chance to rescue him and under the tender loving care of his foster family, this handsome boy is blossoming! Spot  loves humans, is great with other dogs, and is house-trained and crate trained. He is a respectful and well-mannered boy, very good on a leash and stays off furniture. His willingness to please makes him easy to train. Currently, he knows “sit” and continues to learn new cues and tricks every day!  Spot  is an easy-going pup, happy to just hang out at home. Of course, belly rubs are always welcome! Spot is ready to make someone so happy and be the best addition to any home! He is well suited for a calm and gentle family that has lots of time to spend with him, and he’d really enjoy another pup for company. Could that be you?? Story
Sunza, also known as Gabby, needs a new home because her adopter passed away. She is available for direct adoption in the western United States and Canada. Sunza is a cute almost 6-year-old petite GSP/GWP mix. She’s looking for a spot where she can be the only dog in the home – trust us, she doesn’t like other dogs and she’s very protective of her people if dogs of any size are in her orbit. Her adopter described her as her angel dog – sweet, protective and gentle, completely housetrained, so attentive, and fitting in right away. If you’re ready to be the apple of her eye and be the recipient of all of Sunza’s affection, we’d love to hear from you! Story
Dior is very spunky little girl! She is so very pretty and classy. Dior loves to play with the other dogs in her foster home and she’d love a forever home with another playful dog or two, but would also be OK as a single dog. She also loves to run around and play and like any younger GSP has a lot of energy, but also lots of love to give. She has learned the cue “sit” and is also working on “stay”. Dior rarely barks, enjoys time with her humans, has a great appetite, and will take you up on any treats!  Leash manners are decent as long as she knows you are in charge. She is not afraid of the water hose, she lets you spray her feet off, thinking it’s a game, and loves swimming, too! Dior knows her name, but is quite prey driven so her future home should be aware of that. She would do best in a home that has a fenced yard so she can go out and explore and any home where she can be loved on by humans would be her dream come true! She’s ready to join your home! Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Dior's been up to, check out his/her posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
Oh Dobby! This very handsome 1 year old male is all GSP puppy! He is smart as a whip, has a lot of energy, but crashes hard when it is nap time. While he has an unknown past, it is clear that someone took the time to teach Dobby basic cues and house train and crate train him. He enthusiastically bounds to the kennel when it is mealtime and sleeps like an angel through the night in there too. Dobby is also very enthusiastic about walks and car rides, going outside and coming back inside. Since arriving at his foster home he’s learned to sit and then wait at the door rather than rushing in when the door is half open. His foster home is also working on leash manners, cues like “mat”,  and being a good roommate. He has more work to do on all those fronts, but he has made great progress since being in our foster program. Dobby would do best in an active home that can make sure he gets the exercise he desires and needs to be calm in the house. He has done well with kids, other dogs, and really loves to play. He is also currently on a hydrolyzed food diet to help with unknown allergies that should be continued after adoption until a vet recommends something else. With patience and an understanding of the breed, Dobby’s new roommate(s) will be so lucky to add him to their pack, he will be awesome as he continues to mature. If you are interested in adopting Dobby, please submit your adoption application today! Story
Jovi is the sweetest girl! This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do but she is not getting what she deserves here. When we adopted her 9 months ago, the shelter told us she was a lab/bull mastiff mix. We felt that would be a great fit for our family. But, upon doing a dna test, we found out Jovi is actually a German Shorthaired pointer mix. Those types of dogs require a lot of attention (they do not like being left alone) and a lot of room to run (which we do not have). Jovi would do really great in a family that has a big yard or someone who has the time to take her for a couple walks a day at least to expel some energy. She will always want to sit next to you and put her paw somewhere on your body so she feels close to you. I want her to have a great life. She is about 19 months old from what we have been told by the shelter, so she has a lot of wonderful years ahead of her.
