Hi there- I'm Luna! I'm a one year old, spayed female, 62 lbs., Catahoula mix dog who looking for my new pack! I am seeking folks who will assist me in navigating this wide world. I may see a bit aloof when first meeting, but if we play ball I will be your friend quickly. I can be timid but I have a heart of gold and I'm waiting for the right family to give all my love to. I would do best with folks who have had large breed dogs like me! I would love to meet the entire household, including any resident dogs before going home. Come on down and hear all about me! Here's how I did: Luna spent three nights with me, and I got to see a lovely contrast: she looks striking and strong, but she's gentle, a little timid at first, and wonderfully playful. She warmed up over the visit and, by her last day, came over for full-body snuggles after a constant game of fetch. Fetch is her favorite thing. She'll chase balls as long as you're willing to throw them, catch a high bounce, and usually bring the ball back and drop it at your feet or in your lap without needing a treat. She also settles beautifully when given a break. With gentle guidance into her crate, she walked in calmly, napped during the day, and slept through the night without making a sound. In fact, I never heard her bark, whine, growl, or make any noises except for adorable snoring sounds. Luna hopped happily into my car back seat and rode calmly. On our walks, she passed other dogs, walkers, joggers, cyclists, and loud lawn equipment without trouble. She loves a good sniff around, though squirrels are hard for her to resist. She walked well with a Gentle Leader. She was also gentle taking treats, allowed me to retrieve a squeaker from her mouth, and gave soft lick kisses.Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.
