Meet Foxie! She was actually rescues by two staff members in pt. Richmond with her baby and the dad. They all went to CCAS and foxie was the last one who needed a home, so Milo pulled her! So far she is sweet once she warms up and she is still learning the basics of the world. She would do well with owners who have experience with dogs and ideally adults only as she can be a bit nervous with too much going on. She walks well on leash.

Wilma is a sweet, smart, attentive pup who's ready for her forever home! She's eager to learn and picks up on new things quickly, she makes great eye contact and listens to her people. She's already house trained and is picking up on crate training quickly with her foster's guidance. She's respectful and gentle and waits to be invited onto the couch for snuggles. It takes her a little time to settle into a new environment, but after just a couple of days in her loving foster home, she's been rolling over for belly rubs and scritches. Wilma loves water and all forms of activities! She will make a great trail companion and her recall and obedience will be great with some more consistency. She would love a home with a confident dog who can be a role model and show her the ropes of family life. If you are a person or a family with plenty of time to engage and have stimulating activities and enrichment to enjoy with an athletic, clever sidekick, Wilma is sure to please and be a fun addition!!

Meet Pepper, the dalmation! This very handsome and very energetic dog came into the Shelter after his previous guardian was unable to continue caring for him. Pepper has been described as incredibly smart and would love to channel his brain power for good with his new family through positive reinforcement based training. He previously lived in a large property. He did have experience with a family with children but would sometimes jump up on them. Sturdy children in the home are recommended. Pepper has met other dogs at the Shelter and is interested in play but a little hormonal. If your dog is looking for a playmate, we’d recommend doing a meet and greet at the Shelter prior to adoption to ensure they jive with Pepper. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw!Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

FOSTER CARE!  Hi, I am Remi, a 7-year-old, spayed female, Catahoula / Pit Bull mix that currently weights about 73lbs! If you are looking for perfection, than you have come to the right place. I am a loving and affectionate senior gal with impeccable manners. I love to cuddle and I'm a really good walking partner. I'm a calm girl who would love to join you on your daily walks. As an older gal, my playing days are a bit behind me so I would prefer to be the only dog in the home, or with a mellow dog like myself. I can't wait to give you all of my love! She is the sweetest most happy gal that never fails to find your face to shower with kisses. She loves her long walks just as much as she loves a chill movie night, she has lots of spots to curl up but finds the small dog bed the comfiest, despite the large one beside it. Don’t let her age fool you, Remi is full of energy and play time, she loves fetch but make sure you have two balls because she is still learning to drop :) She especially loves old soccer balls over tennis, but as long as you're playing with her she will love it. Remi will squeeze her way into any heart and hopefully your home!Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Drop-In hours for Same Day Adoptions are 11 am – 5 pm, 7 days a week (closed major holidays). We do our best to update our listings regularly, but we can’t guarantee every animal you see is still available. It’s also typical for us to have animals who haven’t had their photos taken yet, so you are welcome to visit our adoption center and have a look around!
