Story
Hello Everybody! My name is Mika (mee-kuh). I’m a Dalmatian mix, and a little bit bigger girl (because I am tall), but I only weigh about 55-57 pounds. I could stand to lose another couple of pounds, but the food is good here and we have yummy treats! I’m not telling, but I am probably mixed with either a larger hound or something like a Great Pyrenees because I have dewclaws on my back feet and a tiny bit of an undercoat. I am getting along well with my foster sisters and with a boy dog that was fostering with me for a while. I am kind of bold, and a bit rowdy, when meeting new dogs, so slow introductions will be required. Once I learn to trust you, I will play with you all day. I do like to set the rules among the four-leggeds, so I have some opinions about sharing the water bowl, guarding my space, and occasionally wanting to keep my bone or my person to myself. I won’t get too upset though if you just understand my rules. My foster Mom is working on this with me. I do great hanging around the food bin while Mom gets our dinner, and I am very considerate when the treats are being doled out, but my new parents need to continue working on this resource guarding thing with me. I have not been around cats or kids, but I do very well leaving the resident house bunnies alone (well, except to eat the bunny berries. Those guys are like regular treat dispensers, it’s kinda cool!). I love to be with my person, and I follow her everywhere. Sometimes I climb in her lap or jump on her, but I am working on that. I am also a very good girl and can stay in my own room even when Mom leaves the house, but I do well lounging in my crate when I have to. I have very good potty habits although I did do a little submissive peeing when I first got here because I was scared about being in a new place. I haven’t done that in a long time though. I would love a home where I am either an only dog or have one or two more submissive buddies. I do love to play, so a play buddy would be nice. I don’t think I would like the dog park. Please contact my foster mom Tara @ spotteddogs91@hotmail.com or our friend Ms. Tena at tjp@mygrande.net and ask more about me. I am so looking forward to my new forever home! Mika is located in Live Oak (San Antonio), TX. Adopter must pick up. She is spayed, HW Neg, and current on vaccinations. Adoption fee $350.00 Applications may be submitted at www.dalmatianrescueco.org   If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Under Adoptions, please read our adoption policy.  We must have an application before we can begin the adoption process and each dog does have foster contact listed. October 18, 2024, 8:46 am

Story
Lance is a beautiful male Dalmatian who has been somewhat overlooked in the last couple of years. Dumped near Dallas, TX, he was un-mannered and very strong. As with most strays, he was nervous and a little difficult to manage when first meeting new dogs. Since he was neutered and moved into a loving foster home, Lance has learned to get along with lots of other dogs. His foster/trainer has worked very hard to teach Lance some manners and will be available to work with Lance's new family to insure an easy transition. Cats are unknown. Older children are recommended because of Lance's size and strength. He would be a great running companion. Lance is located in Colorado Springs, and his recommended adoption donation is $350. For more information, please contact  jeannine@dalmatianrescueco.org .   If interested in this dog, please go to  www.dalmatianrescueco.org  and submit an application for adoption. Story
Fred is an absolute dream dog! Mostly white with some spots on his ears, he is said to be quite relaxed and friendly, meeting other dogs nicely and walking well on a leash. Not much is known about his history, but he was a staff favorite at the shelter and was well-loved at one time, with a beautiful coat and some decent house manners. He is, unfortunately, heartworm positive and has started undergoing treatment which will continue once he arrives in Colorado (Dalmatian Rescue will underwrite the completion of his treatment until he is heartworm free). He's cute and sociable and is going to make some family a great companion. At 40 pounds, he's not big and likes to play but is not super high energy. Adopter must be willing to follow veterinarian instructions and work closely with Dalmatian Rescue to insure Freddy's heartworm treatment is complete and successful. For more information, please contact jeannine@dalmatianrescueco.org for more information. Suggested adoption donation is $350.   If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Story
Hartley is a very pretty, petite black and white Dalmatian mix. She may have had an owner prior to the dumper as she knows sit and down. She is a quick learner. Her owner was indifferent to their fates and not too knowledgeable about canine birds + the bees. Shelter staff report that he harshly told his 3 crying children to be quiet. She is completely loving + involved with her babies. Plays with them constantly. She is very loving with her foster parents and seeks to join in on "group hugs!" She lovers to roll on the grass -- this is so different from her life at the end of a chain!!! Hartley is a quick learner + takes instruction easily. She loves playing with balls andis an enthusiastic participant in Fetch. After a lifetime of being chained, she lovers playing outside and running around there. She is very ready for a life as a single, childless lady. Hartley so wants a family of her own. She will need slow introductions to new people in her life as she has been failed by her previous owners. Obedience classes would be a good idea to increase the human-animal bond between Hartley and her new humans. Hartley's suggested adoption donation is $300. For more information, please contact  sandy@dalmatianrescueco.org  or  jeannine@dalmatianrescueco.org .  If interested in this dog, please go to  www.dalmatianrescueco.org  and submit an application for adoption. Story
AN ATHLETE'S ATHLETE! Murphy is a gorgeous, green-eyed liver boy who loves an extreme lifestyle. He loves to run; he's begun to learn agility; and he would excel in all kinds of canine sports! Murphy had a horrible early start in life with a very abusive family who were observed hitting him often. He lived with 2-3 small kids, 2 small dogs (he has also lived with a female rottie) and his "parents" in a rented farmhouse in Illinois. One day, the family drove away and abandoned him in the house with no food or water. Two days later, the homeowner heard him howling for help. Poor Murphy was so afraid that he constantly shook and trembled and was terrified to be touched. Since then, Murphy has been with an extraordinary behaviorist and trainer near Orlando. He's gained enormous confidence and learned to love and trust. He is protective of his person while allowing them space, which he also wants. Like all dogs, he needs a job. Murphy is very focused on his handler and has tremendous drive and work ethic. He will need a special adopter who is willing to take the time to provide exercise, companionship, and learning to help him excel. Murphy has started obedience and agility training. Could you be the right person for this special boy? Please contact sandy@dalmatianrescueco.org.  If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Story
Chérie is a 5-year-old, 45-pound pup with a big personality and a lot of love to give! She’s current on vaccinations, spayed, and heartworm negative. This active girl would love a home where she can hike, bike, run, or walk with you every day. She’s also a big fan of swimming, so beach days would be a dream for her! Chérie thrives when she has a job to do and would be super happy in a sport-oriented home. She’s already started some obedience training and is doing well—she’d love to show off her agility skills! If you’re interested in canine sports, Chérie could be the perfect match for you. During quieter moments, Chérie enjoys her squeaky toys and loves showing them who’s boss. When it’s time to relax, she’s happy to snuggle on the couch with you or take a nice, long afternoon nap. She’s house-trained, crate-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and loves car rides. She’ll sleep quietly in her crate at night, though she’d much rather sleep in your bed! Chérie adores people of all sizes, but because she doesn’t always know her own strength, we recommend a home with children over the age of 8. Like many dogs (and people), she’s a bit selective about her friends, so a meet-and-greet is necessary to ensure compatibility with other pets. If you’re looking for an active, loving, and trainable companion, Chérie is ready to be your adventure buddy! For more info, contact Annalisa at alphalimacharlie7@gmail.com or Tena at tjp@mygrande.net Located in SAN ANTONIO, TX.
