Story
Hello Everybody! My name is Mika (mee-kuh). I’m a Dalmatian mix, and a little bit bigger girl (because I am tall), but I only weigh about 55-57 pounds. I could stand to lose another couple of pounds, but the food is good here and we have yummy treats! I’m not telling, but I am probably mixed with either a larger hound or something like a Great Pyrenees because I have dewclaws on my back feet and a tiny bit of an undercoat. I am getting along well with my foster sisters and with a boy dog that was fostering with me for a while. I am kind of bold, and a bit rowdy, when meeting new dogs, so slow introductions will be required. Once I learn to trust you, I will play with you all day. I do like to set the rules among the four-leggeds, so I have some opinions about sharing the water bowl, guarding my space, and occasionally wanting to keep my bone or my person to myself. I won’t get too upset though if you just understand my rules. My foster Mom is working on this with me. I do great hanging around the food bin while Mom gets our dinner, and I am very considerate when the treats are being doled out, but my new parents need to continue working on this resource guarding thing with me. I have not been around cats or kids, but I do very well leaving the resident house bunnies alone (well, except to eat the bunny berries. Those guys are like regular treat dispensers, it’s kinda cool!). I love to be with my person, and I follow her everywhere. Sometimes I climb in her lap or jump on her, but I am working on that. I am also a very good girl and can stay in my own room even when Mom leaves the house, but I do well lounging in my crate when I have to. I have very good potty habits although I did do a little submissive peeing when I first got here because I was scared about being in a new place. I haven’t done that in a long time though. I would love a home where I am either an only dog or have one or two more submissive buddies. I do love to play, so a play buddy would be nice. I don’t think I would like the dog park. Please contact my foster mom Tara @ spotteddogs91@hotmail.com or our friend Ms. Tena at tjp@mygrande.net and ask more about me. I am so looking forward to my new forever home! Mika is located in Live Oak (San Antonio), TX. Adopter must pick up. She is spayed, HW Neg, and current on vaccinations. Adoption fee $350.00 Applications may be submitted at www.dalmatianrescueco.org   If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Under Adoptions, please read our adoption policy.  We must have an application before we can begin the adoption process and each dog does have foster contact listed. October 18, 2024, 8:46 am

Story
Pippin needs a new home. He’s a beautiful boy, 7 years old, well-behaved, vaccinated, crate-trained, leash-trained, and neutered. He has some anxiety and can be nippy with a bit of resource guarding which can be attributed to his anxiety. However, he is truly a wonderful dog despite these quirks. His owners started having children and small children contribute to his anxiety. Pippin is looking for a new home as his owners are now having their second child in a few weeks. As a near-senior dog, he does not adjust easily to changes in his world. He enjoys walks and cuddles. Pippin would do best in a home where he could be the only dog with older (teen-aged) children. Currently located in Longmont. For more information, please contact  jeannine@dalmatianrescueco.org . Suggested adoption donation: $350.   If interested in this dog, please go to  www.dalmatianrescueco.org  and submit an application for adoption. Under Adoptions, please read our adoption policy.  We must have an application before we can begin the adoption process and each dog does have foster contact listed. January 30, 2026, 12:05 pm

Story
Lance is a beautiful male Dalmatian who has been somewhat overlooked in the last couple of years. Dumped near Dallas, TX, he was un-mannered and very strong. As with most strays, he was nervous and a little difficult to manage when first meeting new dogs. Since he was neutered and moved into a loving foster home, Lance has learned to get along with lots of other dogs. His foster/trainer has worked very hard to teach Lance some manners and will be available to work with Lance's new family to insure an easy transition. Cats are unknown. Older children are recommended because of Lance's size and strength. He would be a great running companion. Lance is located in Colorado Springs, and his recommended adoption donation is $350.   Contact jeannine@dalmatianrescueco.org.   If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Under Adoptions, please read our adoption policy.  We must have an application before we can begin the adoption process and each dog does have foster contact listed. September 10, 2025, 3:04 pm

Story
LOCATED IN SAN ANTONIO, TX- Meet Butterscotch, a gorgeous 2 yo lemon Dal and so much more… Butterscotch loves people and does well with older kids who establish boundaries. He gets along well with other dogs who share his energy level, with proper introductions. Butterscotch has the potential to get along with cats, especially playful ones who still have clear boundaries. He is playful, understands quiet time, and best of all, he is the ultimate cuddler! Butterscotch enjoys adventures, hikes, long walks, and trips to the pet store. He is intelligent and loves to learn new things. He is also active and NEEDS daily exercise, not just walks. He needs a home that will commit to this exercise and enrichment with toys, lick mats, and puzzles. This boy LOVES his toys! Butterscotch knows basic commands and is still learning leash manners. He needs someone who will continue to reinforce good behavior and commit time to ongoing training. And....HE'S A SMILER! Butterscotch is an amazing dog and has so much potential to grow. We are looking for an active home that will give Butterscotch the time and training to be his very best. Butterscotch is neutered, current on vaccinations, and heartworm negative. Meet and greet required. Story
AN ATHLETE'S ATHLETE! Murphy is a gorgeous, green-eyed liver boy who loves an extreme lifestyle. He loves to run; he's begun to learn agility; and he would excel in all kinds of canine sports! Murphy had a horrible early start in life with a very abusive family who were observed hitting him often. He lived with 2-3 small kids, 2 small dogs (he has also lived with a female rottie) and his "parents" in a rented farmhouse in Illinois. One day, the family drove away and abandoned him in the house with no food or water. Two days later, the homeowner heard him howling for help. Poor Murphy was so afraid that he constantly shook and trembled and was terrified to be touched. Since then, Murphy has been with an extraordinary behaviorist and trainer near Orlando. He's gained enormous confidence and learned to love and trust. He is protective of his person while allowing them space, which he also wants. Like all dogs, he needs a job. Murphy is very focused on his handler and has tremendous drive and work ethic. He will need a special adopter who is willing to take the time to provide exercise, companionship, and learning to help him excel. Murphy has started obedience and agility training. Could you be the right person for this special boy? Please contact sandy@dalmatianrescueco.org.  If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Story
LOCATED IN DALLAS, TX. Many of you will remember Pablo, who came to us with devastating degloving injuries on his rear legs, believed to be from being dragged by a car. Today, we are thrilled to share that Pablo is almost completely healed and ready for his forever home. Pablo is a 4-year-old “Dalmatian wannabe” with sweet spots, soulful eyes, and the kindest heart. He adores other dogs, gets along great with his foster brother, and has a calm, gentle nature with both dogs and kids. He has not been tested with cats. Pablo is potty trained, crate-trained, knows sit, lay down, and shake. He loves his chew toys, car rides, walks, and trips to the dog park. Pablo is also a professional cuddler and will happily “talk” to you when he needs to go outside or wants to play—though most of his time is spent lounging peacefully or chewing contentedly. Pablo does prefer to eat separately from other dogs, screams dramatically at the vacuum, demands belly rubs, and has dangerously cute puppy eyes that make saying no nearly impossible. He has shown incredible strength and resilience, and now that he is fully vetted, neutered, heartworm negative, and healthy, he’s ready to find the loving forever family he so deeply deserves. Pablo is truly a survivor with the gentlest soul. I never worked him since i dont live on a farm but that is what he is bred for. I am looking for someone that has land if possible so he has room to run. It breaks my heart and my daughters to have to get rid of him but i have no choice.

Story
Sadie is a very sweet cuddly approximately 5 years old lab mix. She is good with other dogs & has been good with cats in the past. She is spayed and fully potty trained. She does take anxiety medication (fluoxetine) which would need to be refilled monthly (approx $20). She struggles with separation anxiety, and needs an adopter who can work through this with her and has patience in understanding she needs time to feel safe in a new space. Sadie is great with meeting new people and she loves going for walks. I think she would make an excellent running/ hiking partner.
