Story
Meet Echo! Echo is a beautiful 19-month-old Dalmatian who is full of energy and love. She’s up-to-date on her vaccinations, spayed, and ready to find her forever home! Echo is a friendly, well-mannered pup who loves children, though due to her rambunctious nature, she would do best in a home with kids over 12. She’s crate-trained, enjoys her leash walks, and knows basic commands like "sit," "down," and "off." Echo is also good with cats, although she’s a bit timid around them, and she has lived with a smaller dog before. However, she may be more comfortable with a dog that matches her size and energy level. While Echo is a loving and playful companion, she does have a mischievous side—she has a habit of eating socks! This curious behavior has led to one surgery due to an obstruction, so she’ll need a home that’s diligent about keeping socks and other small items out of reach. Echo currently lives outside during the day and comes inside at night, so she may need a bit of work on housebreaking. With patience and consistency, she’ll quickly adapt to her new routine. Echo is looking for a Dalmatian-experienced home where her new family understands the responsibility of keeping her safe and happy. If you’re ready for a high-energy, affectionate dog who will keep you on your toes (and your socks safely stored), Echo could be the perfect addition to your family! Are you ready to welcome Echo into your home? She’s eager to meet you and become your loyal, playful companion!   If interested in this dog, please go to  www.dalmatianrescueco.org  and submit an application for adoption. Under Adoptions, please read our adoption policy.  We must have an application before we can begin the adoption process and each dog does have foster contact listed. September 10, 2024, 9:48 am

Story
Kona needs a new home! He is a friendly, liver male, approximately 6-7 years old. Kona gets along with other dogs but much prefers the girls. He is a very out-doorsy sort (see his picture doing some cross-country skiing with his foster family) who likes to walk and hike with you, maybe even run, along with other fun activities. As with many Dals, Kona thrives on physical and mental activity, which he is missing right now. Kona's new family will be committed to remedial, positive-based training, lots of love and attention, and helping him slim down to a healthier weight. Because of his size, small children are not advised. Kona is ready for all kinds of fun with his new family. For more information, contact Jeannine ( jeannine@dalmatianrescueco.org ). Kona is located in Cortez, CO. Kona's adoption donation is $350.    If interested in this dog, please go to  www.dalmatianrescueco.org  and submit an application for adoption. Under Adoptions, please read our adoption policy.  We must have an application before we can begin the adoption process and each dog does have foster contact listed. September 10, 2024, 9:48 am

Story
Kismet is a very sweet young dog that we think is part Dalmatian and with his blue eyes part Husky or Aussie (?) we’re not quite sure lol We do know he’s had a rather rough start in life :( Originally from S CA, born in a shelter, he was adopted then dumped at a different AC that has a very high euthanasia rate. We got him out and he went to a CA boarding foster then finally headed here to Colorado - where he’s stuck in boarding again :( He was very scared at the shelter and can still be nervous of new people. He settles in quickly tho and LOVES familiar faces Kismet is an active guy and needs an active family so he doesn’t get bored lol He also loves to snuggle with his human - he loves affection tho it can take a minute for him to warm up. Once he does tho he’s a bit of a Velcro dog! As he learns he has a furever home I think his anxiety will settle down. Kismet has been kenneled for a while now so he needs some reminders on his potty training. He keeps a very clean kennel and will wait until he’s outside so it shouldn’t take much :) He likes to jump so def needs a few manners training still No very small children unless it’s a very dog savvy home with constant supervision Kismet is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vax He seems to be good with most dogs, cats and livestock unknown Foster, foster to adopt or adopter needed and the adoption fee can be paid over time He just needs a GREAT home Currently in Trinidad for meet and greets! Applications are on our website: mybestfriendrescue.org Email: mybestfriendrescue@gmail.com

Story
Just barely 12 months old, Sully arrived in Colorado by air in the middle of the night in late June. He and his brother and sister traveled from Southeastern Oklahoma in a private plane, thanks to Pilots N Paws, a nonprofit organization of private pilots who volunteer to help homeless animals get to their new furever homes. Shy before he left Oklahoma, Sully was completely shut down upon arrival in Brighton and barely made it into the car. But, oh what a change we've seen! Fostered in a home with two other female Dalmatians and a cat, he has mostly come out of his shell and loves to play in the backyard with his foster sisters and blood brother. He has learned to go up and down stairs and play with toys! Sully is incredibly cuddly and will quickly become a velcro dog if you let him. He enjoys his neighborhood walks but also likes to snuggle up for TV nights as well. Sully is still a very timid dog, but slow introductions and another calm and quiet dog will help him acclimate to a new home. For more information, please contact  jeannine@dalmatianrescueco.org  Sully' suggested adoption fee is $400. If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Under Adoptions, please read our adoption policy.  We must have an application before we can begin the adoption process and each dog does have foster contact listed.September 10, 2024, 9:48 am

Story
I’m a lucky dog – I’m in a special training program with the Missouri State University DARR College of Ag Companion Animal Science Program. I will be working with the students in that program as they learn and I learn until late November – when I will be available to go to an adopter. What a fortunate adopter that will be! I can be pre-adopted or a qualified applicant can make an appointment to meet me as soon as I’m available in November. Apply online at polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt. Are you looking for a good boy? How about a goofy, loving, and smart boy? I'm here to tell you that you have made it to the right place, as I am ALL those things! I'm Darko, a 2 year old Dalmatian/border Collie mix. I'm a good boi. I seem to get along well with other dogs but the shelter always recoomends a proper introduction. I'm active as my breeds are known for but I've also got a mellow side. I know when it's time to unwind and relax and I'm all for curling up on the couch and snuggling. My only flaw- I don't like kitty cats. So, what do you say? Have I convinced you that I'm amazing yet?? If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2095206##

Story
Meet Stella! This sweet girl is 18 months old. She is affectionate, gets along well with her foster sisters, and LOVES to run and play in the backyard. She is good with kids too. She has not been tested with cats. Her previous owner noted that she is a bit more reserved than her sister, Jewels, preferring to hang out with her person. Stella is house-trained, crate-trained, and walks nicely on a leash. Stella is current on vaccinations and spayed. She is heartworm-positive but has begun our protocol for heartworm treatment. We will provide her adopter with all medications needed to complete the protocol, along with support and education. Stella is the definition of a Velcro Dalmatian. She wants to be right next to her person and cuddle. She is an extraordinary girl and is ready for her new home! Located in San Antonio, TX For more info, contact Tena at  tjp@mygrande.net  adoption fee $400.  If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption.
