Story
THIS BOY NEEDS HIS OWN HOME! BAILEY HAS BEEN IN A DRC FOSTER HOME SINCE 2019. Sweet, lovable Bailey is an active 7-8 year old neutered mixed breed dog, ready to give you lots of love and devotion. He likes to go for walks and gentle runs and would love to go on hikes. Bailey doesn't take long to warm up to new people. But Bailey is also a cuddler, and a kisser. He is a true velcro dog, always wanting to be by your side. Bailey is not fond of cats. He is a caretaker and watches over his family and house from a deck or patio during the day and captures your bed at night. Bailey would like a home with another laid-back companion for company and and play-time, and a good fence for security. For more information, contact friends@dalmatianrescueco.org. Bailey is currently in Falcon (Colorado Springs). Suggested adoption donation: $250. Please submit an application for adoption for Bailey at www.dalmatianrescueco.org.  If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Under Adoptions, please read our adoption policy.  We must have an application before we can begin the adoption process and each dog does have foster contact listed. April 26, 2024, 11:54 am

Story
Hello Everybody! My name is Mika (mee-kuh). I’m a Dalmatian mix, and a little bit bigger girl (because I am tall), but I only weigh about 55-57 pounds. I could stand to lose another couple of pounds, but the food is good here and we have yummy treats! I’m not telling, but I am probably mixed with either a larger hound or something like a Great Pyrenees because I have dewclaws on my back feet and a tiny bit of an undercoat. I am getting along well with my foster sisters and with a boy dog that was fostering with me for a while. I am kind of bold, and a bit rowdy, when meeting new dogs, so slow introductions will be required. Once I learn to trust you, I will play with you all day. I do like to set the rules among the four-leggeds, so I have some opinions about sharing the water bowl, guarding my space, and occasionally wanting to keep my bone or my person to myself. I won’t get too upset though if you just understand my rules. My foster Mom is working on this with me. I do great hanging around the food bin while Mom gets our dinner, and I am very considerate when the treats are being doled out, but my new parents need to continue working on this resource guarding thing with me. I have not been around cats or kids, but I do very well leaving the resident house bunnies alone (well, except to eat the bunny berries. Those guys are like regular treat dispensers, it’s kinda cool!). I love to be with my person, and I follow her everywhere. Sometimes I climb in her lap or jump on her, but I am working on that. I am also a very good girl and can stay in my own room even when Mom leaves the house, but I do well lounging in my crate when I have to. I have very good potty habits although I did do a little submissive peeing when I first got here because I was scared about being in a new place. I haven’t done that in a long time though. I would love a home where I am either an only dog or have one or two more submissive buddies. I do love to play, so a play buddy would be nice. I don’t think I would like the dog park. Please contact my foster mom Tara @ spotteddogs91@hotmail.com or our friend Ms. Tena at tjp@mygrande.net and ask more about me. I am so looking forward to my new forever home! Mika is located in Live Oak (San Antonio), TX. Adopter must pick up. She is spayed, HW Neg, and current on vaccinations. Adoption fee $350.00 Applications may be submitted at www.dalmatianrescueco.org   If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Under Adoptions, please read our adoption policy.  We must have an application before we can begin the adoption process and each dog does have foster contact listed. April 26, 2024, 11:54 am

Story
Sometimes we stretch the definition of Dalmatian when we accept dogs into our rescue. Skittles is one of these cases. We’re calling him a hound mix with “a hint of Dalmatian”. This two-year-old boy was saved from the shelter’s euthanasia list with only minutes to spare! But he was so friendly and look, he has a couple of Dalmatian type spots on one ear! Skittles is deaf but this happy boy doesn’t let that hold him back. He will need a safe, fenced-in play area and lots of on-leash exercise. His new owner will be encouraged to train him with hand signals and preference will be given to adopters familiar with deaf dogs. Skittles gets along well with other dogs. This happy, energetic young boy is guilty of jumping up and will need gentle training to stop this behavior. But Skittles is crate trained, and does know “sit“. and he’s very willing to learn more! His exuberance and need for training makes us feel Skittles should be placed in a home without young children. Adults, possibly with teenagers, would be preferred. More than anything, Skittles loves cuddles and belly rubs. He came to us heartworm positive but is responding well to treatment which should be completed soon. To learn more about Skittles, contact Tena at tjp@mygrande.net. His adoption fee is $250.   If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Under Adoptions, please read our adoption policy.  We must have an application before we can begin the adoption process and each dog does have foster contact listed. April 26, 2024, 11:54 am

Story
AN ATHLETE'S ATHLETE! Murphy is a gorgeous, green-eyed liver boy who loves an extreme lifestyle. He loves to run; he's begun to learn agility; and he would excel in all kinds of canine sports! Murphy had a horrible early start in life with a very abusive family who were observed hitting him often. He lived with 2-3 small kids, 2 small dogs (he has also lived with a female rottie) and his "parents" in a rented farmhouse in Illinois. One day, the family drove away and abandoned him in the house with no food or water. Two days later, the homeowner heard him howling for help. Poor Murphy was so afraid that he constantly shook and trembled and was terrified to be touched. Since then, Murphy has been with an extraordinary behaviorist and trainer near Orlando. He's gained enormous confidence and learned to love and trust. He is protective of his person while allowing them space, which he also wants. Like all dogs, he needs a job. Murphy is very focused on his handler and has tremendous drive and work ethic. He will need a special adopter who is willing to take the time to provide exercise, companionship, and learning to help him excel. Murphy has started obedience and agility training. Could you be the right person for this special boy? Please contact sandy@dalmatianrescueco.org.  If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Under Adoptions, please read our adoption policy.  We must have an application before we can begin the adoption process and each dog does have foster contact listed. April 26, 2024, 11:54 am

Pat is a loving, gentle & playful boy. He loves learning new things & being with people and other dogs. Pat has had a very difficult early life. He ran away four times and ended up at the local humane society. Pat was brought there again after his owner died. He is gradually losing his hearing and is very nervous about this. He does not like a lot of shadows or flashlights. He is learning hand signals and has just learned to stop, to sit and to shake paws. Pat loves to share cuddles and craves human contact. He'd be thrilled at the opportunity to be a velcro dog - a very Dalmatian trait! If you are looking for a very handsome, smiling love bug and are interested in him, please contact sandy@dalmatianrescueco.org. Adoption $300.00. Story
WHOA! Spike is not a "spot"! But Spike was a part of a twosome (his cohort was a Dalmatian, Snoopy) that was confiscated for neglect by the Sheriff in a small town in Central Texas. Having no place to hold these dogs, the Sheriff contacted Dal Rescue to see if we would help them out, and, of course, we did! Spike was filthy and flea-covered, having lived in a small 4 X 6 kennel for who knows how long. Dal Rescue has a rule that we don't leave any dog behind. Because the other half of this duo was a Dal, we couldn't leave Spike behind to fend for himself. So, we have this lovely mixed breed doggo who is the best dog! He is friendly, gets along with everyone, and even has some manners! He loves to be petted and will wriggle his whole body when someone strokes him. He's a medium-sized boy who would make a good family dog. Can be a little bossy around other dogs, but corrects easily and moves on. Spike's suggested adoption donation is $350. Contact jeannine@dalmatianrescueco.org.  If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Story
*** AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION, FOSTER, or FOSTER TO ADOPT *** Meet Noelle! She is currently enrolled in our P.A.C.K. Program, a 9-week intensive program for routine obedience, agility, and handling training with a prison inmate trainer and she is almost ready to show off her new skills! Her new abilities include 'sit', 'roll over', 'shake' and more! New adopters should realize that PACK Program graduates will require regular, ongoing reinforcement of learned behaviors in order for them to become permanent. Noelle is a very fun and happy dog. She can get a little excited and jump on people or lean into them for attention. She enjoys all the attention she can get. This is helpful too.. because she will need weekly brushing as she has a lot of fur! Noelle has hoped a couple shorter fences in the past, so a taller 6' fence will be safe to keep her contained. She does well playing with other dogs too. She is fine with either gender, but tends to play more often with the other females. From time to time she shows us she is a higher energy dog. She can become distracted easily, but is learning more and more each and every day. She does well in his crate, and mostly house broken. She is about 90% house trained. We think by the time she graduates she'll be at 100%. Noelle seemed scared of the cats we introduced her to here at the center. So if you have a cat in your home, we would be more than willing to re-test her around them. We don't have prior history of her around kids, but we don't foresee there being any issues. This stunning gal will be ready and willing for a new family towards the middle of May. Apply to meet her today!

These pups are in Fort Collins, Colorado too!

Story
Meet Clover! This poor boy has only known homelessness in his short year of life. He has bounced around from place to place and has never had or known what it's like to have a home of his own. He is a sweet guy with a gentle soul and he enjoys the company of other dogs. He'd do best in a home with other dogs to keep him company as he enjoys bouncing around and playing with other dogs. He may act shy in the beginning but he's really an undercover lover and he bonds closely with humans that give him affection. Clover has done great with big and small dogs and he enjoys when other dogs play with him. If you're looking for a new good luck charm, Clover is your guy! From his current foster: " Clover is submissive, a bit timid and shy at first. Warms up / gains confidence with other animals / gentle hooomans. House trained, kennel trained. Is starting to chew up small things at night but that's because he's finally feeling comfortable and acting like a puppy boy. He is easily redirected with toys. He is a little flighty when it comes to going out doors/ jumping in cars / kennels. Overall an amazing dog that would make the best family member. 16 DOG PLAYGROUP + SMALL DOGS! - https://youtu.be/mIw1BbeVyhk 15 DOG PLAYGROUP + SMALL DOGS! - https://youtube.com/shorts/VXNyUNJ2mSY Playing with another dog - https://youtube.com/shorts/gJIeql81t7g?feature=share Playgroup with small & big dogs - https://youtube.com/shorts/CHDR6l7wxBA?feature=share Playgroup - https://youtu.be/6w2dqbGK59s Playgroup - https://youtube.com/shorts/koLzUAubGjk?feature=share Playing with other dogs! - https://youtu.be/qa_Pz9hIVDo ADOPTION FEE: $425 We are a foster-based rescue and generally do not have pups available to meet at our office except during adoption events on Saturdays. Story
Double Stuff is such a sweet and happy pup with the cutest smile and goofy personality! From his foster: "When someone told Double Stuff to stop and smell the roses, he listened, but he didn't really know what roses were so he chose the next best thing-dandelions. When he isn't chomping down on nature's tasty treat, he loves frolicking after grasshoppers, then eating them. He's potty trained and good on the leash. While he's working on getting used to cats, he does exceptionally well with dogs and would excel in a home with a dog friend. He's also still working on his play biting -since he's still a puppy he loves nibbling on all things. The only thing we've found that makes him sad is not being able to make friends (human, dog, he wants everyone to show him some love). He's charismatic, goofy, and one of a kind. He's one of the biggest, most loving hearts anyone could ask for. I also just want to say that he's made such a positive impact on me and everyone I work with (he comes into the office with me), he's a great dog:)" Playgroup - https://youtube.com/shorts/Vz7TSQeY9jY?feature=share Playing with dogs- https://youtube.com/shorts/ng9OZOKVkGk?feature=share Playgroup - https://youtube.com/shorts/nVwvE9SR8_c?feature=share ADOPTION FEE: $550 We are a foster-based rescue and generally do not have pups available to meet at our office except during adoption events on Saturdays. Meet Red! This gorgeous gal came into our rescue partner as a stray and seemed undersocialized and nervous. Since arriving in rescue, she has blossomed and made great progress already! She will need an adopter who is willing to go slow and allow her to feel comfortable so she can continue to make progress. Previous shelter staff notes: Red is a sweet and gentle girl with a dainty soul. She prefers to take things slow to get to know you, but when she realizes you're safe, she will shower you will love and kisses! She loves to give hugs and kisses and to jump in your lap. She must think she's part lap dog and we haven't told her otherwise. Red came to us and seemed like she was a neglected yard dog. We've been working with her to help her gain confidence and she's blossomed into a wonderland social dog! She LOVES other dogs and would do best in a home with other dogs for her to play with and to continue learning from. She's learning to be a leash walking pro and she's grateful for a gentle hand and love. She will show her gratitude by offering gentle kisses and endless love!
