Story
Tia and Blessing are still seeking a forever home that will adopt them as a pair. They are 3.5 years old and very bonded. They were adopted as sisters and surrendered when their owner had to move. Both girls are house trained, love the yard, crate trained and do great with other dogs. Tia has a spine deformity from birth, but that doesnt slow her down at all! She was evaluated by OSU and they only recommend a home with few stairs. Blessing is outgoing, while Tia is a little more reserved. They will steal your heart the minute you meet them. Because they need to be adopted as a pair, we have a sponsor to cover the adoption fee for one of the girls. Please consider opening up your home this Holiday season for Tia and Blessing. You can apply at ricopetrecovery.org

Story
Lex is a 37 lb Velcro pup that was surrendered with her 'accidential' littermates. She is reported to be a Dalmatian/ English Springer Spaniel mix, but she is actually a Lovebug.Lex is a smart little girl with a DOB of 11/5/2024 and a prominent underbite.Lex is housetrained, keeps her crate tidy at night, great with kids/other dogs and was exposed to a cat at her previous Foster's home that she did not bother.Lex's main interest is her people. She can't get close enough when you sit on a couch and wants you in her sight at all time. (Although she also loves her Nala bones and drags them all out daily.)Lex is working on not jumping up to greet her people.Lex is 8 months old. She is spayed and up to date on vaccines.A fenced yard is preferred for Lex. We don't think she would do well with an invisible fence. Apply to meet Lex at Ricopetrecovery.org. The adoption fee for Lex is $250

Story
Meet Lucy 🤍🖤 Lucy is a sweet, black-and-white young pup just over a year old with the softest eyes and the gentlest heart. She’s one of those dogs who truly wants to do the right thing — eager to please, affectionate, and tuned into her people. Lucy already knows her basic commands like sit, stay, lay down, come, and even “go home” to her crate. She’s crate-trained, very gentle, and responds beautifully to calm guidance and routine. She’s the kind of dog who learns quickly because she genuinely wants to make you happy. She loves to play fetch, enjoys being active, and then is perfectly content curling up nearby to relax. Lucy has a calm, loving presence and would thrive with someone who enjoys spending time with their dog — whether that’s playing outside, going for walks, or cozy evenings at home. Lucy would do best in a home where she can get regular activity, continued training, and lots of affection.

Story
Chief is an energetic, healthy 5-year-old Dalmatian that I rescued when he was a puppy. He has basic obedience training and has been socialized with other dogs. When he was younger, he lived with and got along well with another rescue, a senior lady Chihuahua who has since passed on. It has been a while since Chief has lived with another dog so he would need to be properly introduced to a new sibling to ensure they get along before going to his new forever home. Chief has always done well with children, including my toddler who loves him - up until New Year's Eve when he bit my 11-year-old stepson. The bite did not require stitches. After an examination from his vet, he has a clear bill of health although we are still not sure what caused the upset. Holiday stress? Regardless, we are forced to make the tough decision to rehome our beloved family dog to a childfree home. I would also recommend a cat free home as Chief loves to chase (much to his irritation) my step father's cat.

Story
Meet Patty Melt! Patty Melt is about 7 years old and a 50 pound female Catahoula mix. She is blind but learns to navigate her surroundings very well. Patty Melt loves her people. She can be slow to warm up to strangers and needs a good sniff first, but once you’re approved she’s all love and belly rubs. She is content to hang out all day and sleep, snore, and play with toys. She happily sleeps in her crate, and does not cause any trouble left alone in the house out of the crate. Patty Melt is currently being fostered in Columbus, Ohio. She would do best in a home without young children or fur siblings. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines and preventions. Story
Name: Minka ·       Male or female? Female ·       Approximate Age: 1 ½ years ·       Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer mix ·       Weight: 45 pounds ·       Any impairments: diagnosed with Wobbler Syndrome ·       Potty trained? Yes ·       Crate trained? Yes ·       Good with other dogs? Yes, with proper intros ·       Good with cats? Unknown ·       Good with kids? Yes ·       Commands known: sit, down, wait, spin, and more ·       Needs fenced in yard? Preferred ·       Need another dog in the home? No ·       Location: Portage, MI ·       Energy level (high/med/low)? High   Have you made some resolutions to get more walks in?  Or have more joy in your life?  Minka will guarantee your success!  This young German Shorthaired Pointer mix is a bounding ball of life, always ready to play fetch, run around outside, or try to squeeze herself into your lap.    Minka has been diagnosed with Wobbler Syndrome, a neurological problem affecting the spinal cord.  In the case of Minka, her back legs have a funny gait and she can lose her balance easily when she gets excited.  She should always be walked on a harness instead of just her collar.  Minka is not a fan of stairs – she needs a little help going up them and refuses to go down (but is happy to be carried down). While in her foster home, Minka will continue to be evaluated to make sure she is in no pain and to set up a protocol for managing her syndrome.   But Minka is not letting her diagnosis get to her!  She is a high-energy dog always ready to go out for a walk or a spin in the backyard.  Minka’s favorite toys are anything ball-shaped – she loves to make balls bounce by pawing at them on the ground.  But when it’s time to take a break, she wants to snuggle right up with her people.  Minka is fearful at first and will bark until she knows everything is safe.  She is quick to warm up to people – especially if she’s looking for someone to toss a ball for her.  Minka is looking for a family who can give her the support she needs to continue to thrive.  She loves routine and attention, and she will need some time to settle in and be comfortable.  Minka will return all attention and love threefold – take some time to meet this girl and see it for yourself! ##2627511##
