Story
Meet Dobbie the Dobie – A Resilient Tripod with a Heart of Gold Dobbie is a sweet, sensitive boy who’s been through a lot. After a traumatic injury, he had one of his legs amputated — but he’s healing beautifully and adjusting to life on three legs with quiet bravery. He’s currently in a foster home where he's learning that the world can be safe and kind. Dobbie is gentle and loving, but emotionally sensitive. Loud noises and quick movements scare him, so he needs a calm, quiet home with trauma-informed, patient guardians. Ideal Home: Quiet, predictable environment No small children Carpet or rugs preferred (he struggles on hardwood) Prior dog experience highly recommended A ramp for car access would help With Others: Dog-friendly with proper introductions Shy but kind with strangers (needs slow approaches) Not a fan of head or body pets — prefers gentle chin rubs Needs continued positive reinforcement training Dobbie has shown some separation anxiety and does best crated when alone. He’s potty trained but may mark when adjusting to a new space. Dobbie is truly special. With the right home, he’ll flourish into a loyal, loving companion. Are you the one to give him his second chance?

Story
Bocce was found in a park with no tags, collar, or microchip. I took him home in hopes of finding his forever home. I've had him for about a week now and he is amazing. He's about 1 years old so young but not puppy puppy. He sleeps through the night with no accidents but if he gets too excited he might pee a little. He Is extremely treat motivated and very very smart so he would thrive with someone who can provide that mental stimulation. I've been using slow feeders and treat puzzles during meal times and that tires him out great. He is pretty good on walks. For the most part he ignores dogs and people but if the dog is barking at him or if a person is trying to get his attention he gets a littler nervous. But because of how young and moldable he is he could easily be trained to walk well on a leash. He seems to ignore other pets in a household but unsure. I think he would do well with kids especially if they gave him treats!! He is suspicious of men!!! He has updated Rabies Vac.

Story
If you are looking for a fine specimen of a large, strong, confident male dog, Hans is your man!  With classic Doberman looks, his imposing presence is stunning.  However, along with this it is essential that Hans have a strong, confident owner who can teach/train him with positive reinforcement that she/he is the boss, and Hans can relax and no longer needs to be protector of the universe.  Hans craves human attention and affection but does not know how to ask for it in a gentle way. Hans arrived at the shelter with Heidi, a more submissive female Doberman, and would probably do well with another dog in the home.  If you have the time/money to put into training to make Hans his best self ever, he will be an awesome dog.  Hans recently met some social dogs at our shelter and did fine.  He wasn’t ready to play, but we hope that as he gets more experience in our shelter playgroups, he’ll be ready to show us his silly side with other dogs.  He`s sharing his shelter kennel with a friend he came to the shelter with.  Looking for a buddy for your dog?  Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we`re a match!  Check out his playgroup video here:To meet me, visit the Bradshaw Animal Shelter Tuesday-Sunday, Noon - 5:00 pm, Wednesdays, Noon - 6:00 pm. All adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis. To help expedite the meet and greet process, please make note of my Animal ID number, and those of other dogs you might be interested in meeting. Be sure to bring your ID with you, too. We are located at 3839 Bradshaw Road, Sacramento. I look forward to getting to know you!
