Emerald is a stunning young girl with a gentle soul and a heart as beautiful as her name. Just seven months old, she’s already showing what an incredible family companion she’s going to be. Emerald joined our Connecticut rescue after traveling north from North Carolina, where she came from one of our trusted rescue partners. She is part of an 8-puppy litter that was surrendered to a shelter when her owner could no longer care for them. Despite her rough start, Emerald has blossomed into a loving, social, and resilient pup. Her DNA tells a fun story! Emerald’s DNA testing shows Doberman mixed with three classic hounds: Redbone Coonhound, Treeing Walker Coonhound, Bluetick Coonhound. This mix gives her the perfect blend of loyalty, intelligence, curiosity, and sweetness. Currently at 43 pounds, Emerald will be a large girl at about 60 pounds when full grown. Emerald is wonderful with children and has a naturally gentle, affectionate nature. She is also excellent with other dogs and enjoys playtime, companionship, and being part of a pack. Whether she grows up with canine siblings or becomes your devoted best friend, Emerald is eager to bond and please. Like many young hounds, she enjoys exploring the world with her nose, but her Doberman side shines through in her attentiveness and desire to be close to her people. Nox is looking for a home — he’s a story of resilience, growth, and second chances. Pulled from a shelter by our trainer at @gentlewolfdogtraining in early 2025, Nox arrived severely malnourished and clearly suffered a difficult past. Today, he’s healthy, strong, and ready for the right person to step into his world. At roughly 3 years old, Nox is a young adult with a big personality. He’s a well-traveled gentleman (no really, he flies with his foster) who thrives in nature - hiking trails, open space, quiet environments. He’s a dog who wants to lean into capable leadership, not chaos. He experienced the worst kind of cruelty but does not need babying — he needs a human who understands what structured support looks like. Someone who can stay calm, think clearly, and provide guidance, also ideally has experience with the breed. When Nox feels understood and like his person has his back, a different dog appears. He's goofy, charming, sometimes hilariously unsure of how to manage his big body, and full of potential. With other dogs, he does well under clear leadership and benefits from clear boundaries. Nox is not a beginner’s dog. His past has left marks that surface when he becomes overwhelmed, especially during transitions into rest. Nox will only be adopted to an experienced home — someone who respects what a dog with a story needs, and has the means, empathy, and skill set to continue his journey. Story

Petty, aka "Max" is a lovable young senior dog looking for a retired or work-at-home human/family to share the rest of his life with. He has been three-legged since aged two, has learned to adapt all his daily activities, and travels very well. After 3 months in foster care, Max has learned to play with other dogs! He still has limitations, but he loves to roll on the ground to gently wrestle with his foster siblings. Daily walking has given him additional strength in his legs. He can climb and run with the best of them. He can still slip if not careful, and he is not a fan of very cold weather. He has to be coaxed out the door or just walked on leash in sleet or cold rain. Temperatures above 50 will get him outdoors in any kind of weather. Max is such a social guy that he prefers to be with his humans or dogs rather than alone. He does not chew on anything but food, and is highly food motivated. He is also very human oriented, but followed the lead of his foster brother when he learned new house rules. He walks extremely well, but pulls on occasion when squirrels or rabbits are nearby. He walks fine with a Gentle Leader, but his gait is hopped, so his owner needs to be someone with good balance. He loves to be outdoors and walk on leash. A medium-sized fenced yard would be an additional bonus for this dog as he is an active and young senior.Having said that, Max would also be a wonderful companion dog and fellow couch potato at night. He seems to be much more Chocolate Lab than Red Doberman, with a strong lab lean, and would love to lie on the couch next to a human. He does not sit on laps, but would love to be on the bed sleeping next to his human. I would not expect him to break that habit easily (although he is trying). Max will also counter-surf if he can get away with it. Having lost his last owner, Max does have some minor anxiety issues over separation, and does not enjoy being crated. He is not destructive, though, and tolerates being confined to a room with music and his foster brother when the humans are gone from the house. He has no toileting issues doing his business outside, and sleeps very well at night. He knows many commands, and will give a bark when someone approaches the house or yard. He infrequently can give off an aura which can intimidate some less secure dogs, but really he is a loving goofball, and has done very well with dogs, kids and toddlers at the local Farmers' Market and adoption events. He loves meeting people! Max would love to have a stable home with an active adult/family to spend his senior years. He is very healthy, loves being groomed, and getting attention, affection, and slow but steady exercise. FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. The adoption fee Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea/Tick/Heartworm Prevention, and Sheltering.
