Story
Winthrop is a super sweet, super cute 1 year old guy (born 6/3/22) that gets along w/other dogs and people, even if it doesn’t sound like it at first, it just takes a minute. He is a “special” guy, but doesn’t know it. He just lives life w/a smile on his face. His Momma must not have been ready to be a mother because she picked him up by the head and shook him. This has caused him to have some neurological issues and some quirkiness, but he still has a bounding zest for life. Literally. He will playfully bound off the couch or bed with joy when playing w/his foster brothers. Bound across the threshold of the door, because that’s fun! He either bounces or prances or sneaky tippy taps or has a lovely extended trot wherever he goes. Also due to his neurological issues, intentional movements and body control are hard and as a result he bumps into things, falls over (when trying to scratch), flails around a bit, weaves and leans (even more than the typical doberlean). While all the above can make for some super cute antics it can also make for some hazardous conditions for young children or anyone suffering from their own stability issues. Winthrop knows sit (although sometimes he forgets which end is supposed to be on the floor), wait, go to your room (for going to his kennel), and is working on lay down (he knows it but, gets squirrel brained) and leash manners. Winthrop is a little vocally bossy and will tell you how it is or how he thinks it is in that quirky brain of his. He can get a little extra about it. Meeting people and dogs, car rides, and people or dogs coming near his crate triggers this little quirk of his and he would benefit with work with a trainer or behaviorist to help him be a better version of himself. Winthrop loves to cuddle, but it takes him a minute to find that perfect spot. He loves a good chew bone and a Kong filled with yogurt. He loves to wrestle and snuggle w/his foster brothers and will pass toys back and forth between them. Winthrop is like a little Weeble, Leaping Larry, Dobby The House Elf, Sid The Sloth, Tigger, Wreck It Ralph, Jim Carey all rolled into one and all he wants is a sweet loving family w/a fenced in yard and a pillow on a bed or couch to prop himself up on.

Story
Luna is 8 years old and came to BDR because her Mom became ill and was no longer able to care for her. She is a very well cared for and loved dobie girl, they were definitely sad to see her move on but knew it was best for Luna. Luna is good with kitties and other dogs as long as they don't want to play rough with her. Loves her people once she knows you, can be a little apprehensive around new people. Won't do good in a home with little children and all their energy. Luna loves to play with her toys, no one has yet to tell her she is a senior dog! Since she is an albino you will need to be careful with her out in the sun, wouldn't want her ears and nose to burn! Also it can be hard on her eyes, some wear doggles. If you are looking for a sweet girl to hang out with and take walks then Luna might be the dobie gal for you.

Story
If you like the wigglebutt Dobermans, then Oden is the boy for you! He has a great enthusiasm for life and wiggles around every chance that he can. Wiggling is the first thing he does every morning when he wakes up! Oden is a 3-4 year old male that was found crated and abandoned in a house with a male companion Doberman. Since then, Oden has learned that everything soft and warm is his preference, plus a continuous supply of food and attention is even better in his opinion. He is dog friendly and would be best around teenage or older children. Oden comes with a definite no cat or horses label. Oden has been better with housebreaking, loves car rides, crate trained and mastering other commands such as sit, wait, easy and recall. He is food motivated and learns quickly with repetition. His ideal home will tolerate his sometimes whiney attitude when he wants attention. He just cannot resist whistling and dancing when he gets excited. He will require a home with a physically fenced yard. This means no underground or invisible fencing. Unfortunately, Oden has white coat syndrome and gets anxious when meeting the vet. He is being basket muzzle trained for everyone’s safety. Oden also has an old hip injury that resulted in a slight limp. It is not painful, but would benefit from continued joint supplement (OTC Glycoflex or similar). His gait is a little different and he would not make a good running companion. He does enjoy light hiking and is great on a leash. Oden is completely vetted and ready to make sure that your couch stays in place. His foster mom says that he is a great houseguest and provided her back with as much TLC as she gave him.

Story
Maggie is a happy dobie pup around 4 to 5 months old. She was found stray a few months ago and was cared for by a smaller all breed rescue for about a month. When Maggie was found both of her front legs were buckling under and she improved a little while with them. When they reached out to BDR we immediately took this little cutie to our vet and we determined that she needed a food change. Unfortunately, so many of these pups don't have the right nutrition early on and this can be a problem. Hers were left untreated for so long that we do not believe they will ever straighten out completely but it certainly does not stop her from getting around. With that said she will never be someone's running partner but she will certainly be able to live a full happy life. Maggie is currently living with another dog and several children; she adores them all. She has been around kitties and does fine. As with any pup kitties can be fun to chase but she listens well. Maggie is crate trained and working on housetraining. She will need a home with a physically fenced in yard. Maggie is a healthy little girl that is looking for a family to love her despite her minor disability.

Story
Nico is a year and a half old handsome dobie boy that is full of energy as any teenager would be. He had a rough start, but along came a kind person that gave him a chance at a better life. She nursed him back from a very sad and skinny state. It's amazing what good nutrition, a soft place to sleep and lots of love can do. Unfortunately where she lived having a young energetic Doberman wasn't ideal for anyone, so she turned to rescue for help. Nico will be fine with a female dog of similar size. He has met some kitties and so far does not want to hurt them but is certainly waiting for them to run so he can give chase. For the sanity of the cats in the world he will be better suited in a no kitty home. Nico loves all people, a typical velcro happy dobie boy. We have not had him around children but he should be ok with kids 10 years and older. Nico will do best in a home with a physically fenced yard. When we got Nico we were told that he had some dental issues that needed to be addressed. We sent him to the doggy dentist and it has been discovered that he has Dentinogenesis Imperfecta. That's a fancy way to say he has a hereditary abnormality in the formation of dentin (bulky tooth structure under the enamel). He has lost a few teeth but at this time the others look healthy. Nico will need an annual dental to make sure his teeth are all ok.

Story
This happy, friendly boy is Fritz and he’s an 8 1/2 year old red Doberman. He has super soft natural ears and a docked tail. He came to us with his sister when his elderly parents could no longer care for them. He was pretty used to spending a lot of time with his people since they were retired and therefore would do best in a family where someone is home frequently—I.e. retired, work from home, flex schedule, etc. He gets along with other dogs and would be fine living with a female dog. He’s shown a little too much interest in the kitties so far so at this point we’d say no kitties for him. Fritz is house trained, loves to go on car rides…or wherever you’re going, or running around the yard! He’s a tall boy and needs some room to move around so wouldn’t make a good apt dog. He would love to rest his head in your lap to get some ear scratches. Can you open your home and heart to a sweet senior?
