Story
This handsome happy dobie boy is Ruger. He is 4 to 5 years old and came into rescue because his owner became too ill to care for Ruger. We can tell Ruger was very well loved because he gives that love back 100%. He enjoys carrying around his favorite toy and giving love to lots of people! Ruger does well playing with all dogs and has even been able to go to dog daycare in his foster. No kitties for him though! He will do well with a family that has children but no tiny ones just because he is such a big boy and doesn't seem to know his size. If you are looking for a lovable companion, then Ruger may just be the boy for you!

Story
Cheyenne is a 9 year old Senior girl who was surrendered to rescue with her younger “sister” Shiloh after their owner died. Arrangements had been made with a family friend to take the girls but the woman’s Great Dane didn’t agree with this idea. Along her transport to Bluegrass Doberman Rescue transporters felt she had some hip issues but we are suspecting Wobblers and are managing her symptoms.  Her bloodwork also indicated she is hypothyroid.  Cheyenne doesn’t let any of this get her down and is a happy dobie girl.  She’s a petite lady who loves everyone she meets.  She wiggles her little tail at people and enjoys the company of other dogs.  She got the wild idea that she could chase some kitties but soon found that she doesn’t move like she used to and the cats would jump up high and give a head swat for even thinking that was a good idea.  For now Cheyenne is getting settled into her foster home and loving her soft cushy bed. UPDATE: As Cheyenne settled into her foster and started on her thyroid meds, she is an energetic and happy girl who LOVES ATTENTION. Her walking has improved (though still a little off), she very active and bouncing around. She’s house trained, food motivated, takes her meds easily and would love to find a forever home!

Story
Cupid has arrived Ladies and Gentlemen! Ranger is the perfect young man (turned 2 in November) that any Doberman lover would want. He has several trainings under his belt and has even passed his Level 1 Obedience class. Ranger has the personality to become a great working dog or family pet. So, why is this handsome fella at the rescue? Sadly, at no fault of his own his family developed allergies and could no longer keep him. Currently, Ranger lives with his foster family that has a 7 month old and 3 other female red Doberman Pinschers. Ranger is such a gentlemen with his foster baby sister. He gives her gentle kisses and will check on her when she is upset. He loves to play with his foster Doberman sisters too. He knows to respect their space when they've had enough or if they snap at him, he will walk away. Ranger shows no food, treat or toy aggression. When he meets new people he is shy at first until his handler/owner tells him it's alright. Afterwards he is your instant best friend. He loves to snuggle, play ball, learn new tricks and give kisses. Ranger gets excited when he sees the leash because he loves to go on adventures with his humans and on walks. He does well on a leash, knows sit, down, shake and stay. He is working on "place" and "leave it". Ranger takes a simple verbal correction well and loves to be praised or given treats for being a good boy.

Story
Winthrop is a super sweet, super cute 1 year old guy (born 6/3/22) that gets along w/other dogs and people, even if it doesn’t sound like it at first, it just takes a minute. He is a “special” guy, but doesn’t know it. He just lives life w/a smile on his face. His Momma must not have been ready to be a mother because she picked him up by the head and shook him. This has caused him to have some neurological issues and some quirkiness, but he still has a bounding zest for life. Literally. He will playfully bound off the couch or bed with joy when playing w/his foster brothers. Bound across the threshold of the door, because that’s fun! He either bounces or prances or sneaky tippy taps or has a lovely extended trot wherever he goes. Also due to his neurological issues, intentional movements and body control are hard and as a result he bumps into things, falls over (when trying to scratch), flails around a bit, weaves and leans (even more than the typical doberlean). While all the above can make for some super cute antics it can also make for some hazardous conditions for young children or anyone suffering from their own stability issues. Winthrop knows sit (although sometimes he forgets which end is supposed to be on the floor), wait, go to your room (for going to his kennel), and is working on lay down (he knows it but, gets squirrel brained) and leash manners. Winthrop is a little vocally bossy and will tell you how it is or how he thinks it is in that quirky brain of his. He can get a little extra about it. Meeting people and dogs, car rides, and people or dogs coming near his crate triggers this little quirk of his and he would benefit with work with a trainer or behaviorist to help him be a better version of himself. Winthrop loves to cuddle, but it takes him a minute to find that perfect spot. He loves a good chew bone and a Kong filled with yogurt. He loves to wrestle and snuggle w/his foster brothers and will pass toys back and forth between them. Winthrop is like a little Weeble, Leaping Larry, Dobby The House Elf, Sid The Sloth, Tigger, Wreck It Ralph, Jim Carey all rolled into one and all he wants is a sweet loving family w/a fenced in yard and a pillow on a bed or couch to prop himself up on.

Story
Meet Pippa, a lovely 4-year-old red girl. With her shimmering coat and soulful eyes, she’s a beauty inside and out. Initially, she may come off as a bit reserved with strangers, but once she senses your warmth, she'll melt into a puddle of affection. Pippa has a medium energy level and will need a good walk or two every day, despite that, she also adores cuddle sessions and will never pass up an opportunity to be showered with love or take a nap. While she's mastered the art of being a well-behaved house guest (with the occasional slipper grab), she's very prey-driven. Therefore, a home without cats or small animals would suit her best. Pippa's is a gentle girl, so we think she’d do okay in a home with kids. She's also sociable with other dogs, as long as they match her energy and don't overwhelm her sensitive nature, she’s down to play! A lover of walks, Pippa dreams of strolling by your side. She is crate trained and well behaved in the house but is eager to learn leash manners and basic obedience, so a patient hand to guide her would be ideal. We believe Pippa's past might not have been the standard loving home environment, and she's come so far in adapting to a home setting. With a little training and a lot of love, she's poised to be the perfect companion. If you have a heart and home ready for a lovable, cuddly companion, then Pippa might just be your perfect match!
