Story
Ares is a beautiful, playful, friendly Doberman who has been my buddy for 4 years now (since he was 8 weeks old). He is extremely playful, has tons of energy. I will only allow him to go to a home that I think will be able to accommodate his exercise needs. If he does not get adequate exercise he can get very anxious. The last thing I want to do is part ways with my boy, but being as my wife is very allergic to him, and we are now expecting a child, it is just too much for me to put her through. He is great with all people, big or small. He is great with most dogs. There have only been a few that he did not warm up to. He is trained with the basics but could definitely use some more regimented training. Any other questions feel free to ask.

Story
Rooster is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so he is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. This handsome boy was found as a stray running out in the country. He is approximately 7 months old and weighs 45 pounds. He will probably weigh in the 60-pound range when fully grown. We are not sure of his breed mixture but think he may have some lab and Doberman in him. Rooster has a great personality and disposition. He loves all of the other rescue dogs, big and small. He loves people and will lie at your feet whenever he can. He loves water and the garden fountain is his favorite spot to hang out and keep cool. Rooster is a very sweet and goofy puppy. He is pretty much house-trained and runs to go outside with his buddies. He will need some leash training and would probably do better with a harness. We have no idea of how he is with cats. Rooster loves to run and play with his dog friends and toys. He may not be suitable for a home with small children because he may knock them over when running and playing. Rooster needs a fully fenced-in and secure yard. He will be a great dog for hiking or going to the dog park. He is an active boy and will run around the yard with a toy in his mouth playing tag with his buddies. He likes to be the leader and have everyone chase him. Rooster would do well either as an only dog or with other dogs. Rooster is a healthy and happy boy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, (DAPP, Bordatella, rabies, canine influenza), and microchipped. He is receiving monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. Roosters' adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company to Ridgefield NJ, Rye NY, or Nanuet NY.Rooster resides with our friends at Shaggy Dog Rescue and cannot be transported until after he is adopted. Please email kathy@houstonshaggydogrescue.org if you are interested in adopting this good boy. You may also find them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/houstonshaggydogrescue

Story
Phoenix! This lovely, squishy medium sized (maybe 55 lbs) girl is around 2-3 years old. She was originally adopted from us as a puppy but returned for not getting along with the other pets in the home. Phoenix should be an only pet in her new home, but is a lovely girl willing to give you all her love. She would benefit from a diet and losing a little weight. She is a great girl who is fully housebroken (but may have a few small accidents as she gets acclimated) and crate trained. She would be fine with older, school aged children. Story
*Courtesy Posting* Meet Bradley, the charming 2-year-old Velcro Doberman in search of his forever home! Bradley is an affectionate companion who thrives on human company. However, he's looking for a special family where someone can be there with him most of the time, as he tends to feel anxious when left alone, sometimes leading to destructive behaviors. While Bradley has a heart of gold, he does need a patient and understanding home willing to help him manage his separation anxiety. He has the potential to befriend other dogs, but introductions at the shelter are necessary to ensure a harmonious match. Once he warms up, Bradley forms deep bonds and becomes incredibly loyal to his loved ones. Bradley is a work in progress when it comes to manners, as he tends to be a bit of a jumper, but with consistent guidance and training, he'll be a well-behaved gentleman in no time. While he's great with cats and farm animals, Bradley would feel most comfortable in a home without younger children (under 10) as their energy makes him anxious. Rest assured, Bradley is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all his vaccines, eagerly awaiting the chance to become your faithful companion. If you believe you can offer Bradley the loving and supportive home he deserves, please apply directly to the Humane Society of Yates County, Penn Yan, NY, through our dog adopter survey: https://www.yateshumane.org/dog-adopter-survey

Story
Meet Niko, a spirited European Doberman born on July 15th, 2021. This handsome black and tan boy, originally from Serbia, weighs about 83 pounds but would be healthiest at around 85-90 pounds. Niko is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, and microchipped. He’s a bundle of energy and intelligence, with a high drive that needs plenty of physical and mental exercise. Niko is quick, smart, and eager to please, making him a great candidate for agility, obedience, and IGP sports. He's affectionate and has a lot of love to give to the right home. He thrives on structure and routine, and with consistency and patience, he’ll continue to grow into an exceptional companion. He rides amazingly well in the car. Loves it! Healthy and active, Niko is on heartworm, flea, and tick preventative and has no reactivity to grooming, including nails and ears. He's housetrained and enjoys attending daycare. His favorite toy is a Kong tennis ball, and he’s very food motivated. While he’s good with older kids (13+), he would do best in a home without young children. He is also a big lovebug! Niko needs a committed owner who can continue his training, as he’s not a fan of the crate and needs work on his leash manners. He requires a securely fenced yard (at least 6 feet) because he’s a fast and high jumper. Niko loves to run and play with other dogs, but his interaction with cats is unknown. He initially feared thunder from storms, however, was able to overcome his fear and now he is no longer bothered by them. Niko is working on his separation anxiety and has shown progress. He’s also "growly" when excited for meals, which is just an anxious quirk and not aggression. With zero resource guarding, Niko’s only aim is to please and protect his family. If you’re an experienced dog owner ready to provide a loving, structured home for a smart and energetic Doberman, Niko could be the perfect addition to your family: Right now Niko is located in Ontario, Canada. Story
*COURTESY POST* Joker is a charming 4 1/2-year-old Doberman Pinscher currently being fostered through Catskill Animal Rescue in NY. This sweet boy has a lot of love to give and is looking for a dedicated, experienced Dobie owner to share his life with. Joker loves going for walks and being with his humans. He can be around other dogs, but a meeting is required to ensure compatibility. Given his past as a cruelty case where he was kept in a small kennel, resulting in bowed rear legs, Joker needs a home that understands his special needs. Joker is great at following commands and does well on a leash, though he might pull if something catches his interest. He has a tendency to tear up toys but doesn't resource guard. While he hasn't been around young kids, he behaves well around people. Joker is dog selective and only barks when someone approaches the house. Currently in a foster home, Joker is doing well but may have occasional accidents indoors if he becomes anxious. He loves car rides and is happiest when he's close to his humans. An experienced Doberman owner is preferred, and it's important that Joker isn't crated. To apply for Joker, please visit Catskill Animal Rescue's website and complete an application: https://www.catskillanimalrescue.com/app-faq Let's help Joker find the loving forever home he deserves!
