Story
Petty, aka "Max" is a lovable young senior dog looking for a retired or work-at-home human/family to share the rest of his life with. He has been three-legged since aged two, has learned to adapt all his daily activities, and travels very well. Although he gets along with other dogs, he does not play with younger ones (because of balance issues during play) or very small dogs. He does not seem to want to play fetch nor does he use chew toys. Indeed, he does not chew on anything but food, and is highly food motivated. He is also very human oriented, but followed the lead of his foster brother when he learned new house rules. He walks extremely well, but pulls on occasion when squirrels or rabbits are nearby. He walks fine with a Gentle Leader, but his gait is hopped, so his owner needs to be someone with good balance, who will be able to walk him several times a day, as he continues to rebuild strength and distance/endurance. He loves to be outdoors and walk on leash. A medium-sized fenced yard would be an additional bonus for this dog as he is an active and young senior.Having said that, Max would also be a wonderful companion dog and fellow couch potato at night. He seems to be much more Chocolate Lab than Red Doberman, with a strong lab lean, and would love to lie on the couch next to a human. He does not sit on laps, but would love to be on the bed sleeping next to his human. I would not expect him to break that habit easily (although he is trying). Max will also counter-surf if he can get away with it. Having lost his last owner, Max does have some minor anxiety issues over separation, and does not enjoy being crated. He is not destructive, though, and tolerates being confined to a room with music and his foster brother when the humans are gone from the house. He has no toileting issues doing his business outside, and sleeps very well at night. He knows many commands, and will give a bark when someone approaches the house or yard. He infrequently can give off an aura which can intimidate some less secure dogs, but really he is a loving goofball, and has done very well with dogs, kids and toddlers at the local Farmers' Market and adoption events. He loves meeting people! Max would love to have a stable home with an active adult/family to spend his senior years. He is very healthy, loves being groomed, and getting attention, affection, and slow but steady exercise. FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. Story
💖 Kiara – The Working Girl with a Heart That’s Finally Healing 💖 Kiara’s story began as part of an oopsie litter — a group of backyard pups born without socialization, structure, or guidance. Growing up, she didn’t get to be part of a family or learn what it meant to belong. When she arrived at The Underdog Division, she was scared and unsure, but deep down, her spark was still there — waiting for someone to believe in her. Through professional training at K9netic Pack, Kiara has made an incredible transformation. She’s smart, loyal, and driven — everything you’d expect from a true working-breed dog. With structure and purpose, she shines. She loves having a job to do, learning new skills, and being right by your side as your teammate and best friend. But Kiara is also sensitive. She bonds deeply with her people and needs a calm, patient home where she can feel safe. She’ll do best as the only dog in the home and in a household without children under 10. She’s social and friendly once she knows you, but she thrives most in a stable, low-chaos environment with clear expectations and gentle leadership. Kiara isn’t just looking for a home — she’s looking for her person. Someone who understands her heart, her drive, and her need to work, learn, and love. 💕 📍 Located in Poolesville, MD 🐾 Spayed, fully vetted, and professionally trained ✨ Adoption includes post-adoption support through K9netic Pack Give Kiara the second chance she’s worked so hard to earn. This adorable spirited little boy and his siblings came in to rescue last winter after they were dumped on a back country road. Their mother was found deceased, so we took the puppies in to try to save them. They were very sick initially but are very healthy now. Barnabas is a gentle little boy, but dose love to run and play with other dogs. He has done amazing with his house and crate training. He is so deserving of a wonderful home to call his own. Story
🌼 Meet Daffodil – A Shy Flower Blooming Into a Ray of Sunshine 🌼 Daffodil is pure joy wrapped up in puppy wiggles and soft ears. This gentle, shy girl is blossoming into an affectionate and playful pup who loves people, other dogs, and even cats! She’s indoors full-time now and thriving—calm, well-mannered, and soaking up love like sunlight. She’s still learning about crate training and how to walk on a leash, but she’s a fast learner and responds beautifully to gentle correction. Daffodil has the kind of personality that makes you fall for her without even realizing it. She’s sweet, silly, and a little bit magical—like a dream girl in dog form. She's still getting used to the idea that humans are safe and kind, but her tail is wagging more each day, and she’s always ready for playtime. Daffodil is the type of dog that makes fostering feel like a gift—and adopting her will feel like winning the lottery.
