Story
MEET SAM!!   This silly and happy-go-lucky 14 month old puppy was brought in by animal control for being tied outside with no shelter or food/water. His past has not affected him one bit, and he absolutely loves people and other dogs.   His records say he is a doberman mix, but we don't believe it. Because of his delicious OVERbite, we think he may be part shark! At 43 lbs, he'd fit in any pool or tub, but this land shark hates baths and getting wet in general.    Sam knows 'sit,' 'down,' 'wait,' 'leave it,' and is learning not to pull on a leash. He doesn't want to miss a single smell or opportunity to sniff, so we are teaching him that if he walks nicely, the smell will still be there. It's so hard to be patient when the fresh grass and flowers smell so good!   Sam is house broken and crate trained. He has had a couple of accidents in his crate, but that was due to human error.   Sam's overbite is really something else, and it just makes him so Sam! He does sometimes nibble fingers when taking treats, but he can't help it, so we give him treats on the side of his mouth instead of the front, so fingers are spared.    Sam absolutely loves other dogs and plays well and hard with both male and female dogs his size or smaller. We recommend he go to a home with another dog and with children 12 and up. He will jump up on his person when he comes out of his crate, and we are working on that, but we would hate for Sam to accidentally knock a small child to the ground. Sam's adoption donation fee is $400, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip.  You can apply for Sam by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.tarashouse.net or www.tarashouse.org.  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions.November 27, 2023, 2:54 pm

Story
Rooster is located in TEXAS. There are not enough homes for all the unwanted dogs down there, so he is willing to relocate for a good, loving, forever home. This handsome boy was found as a stray running out in the country. He is approximately 7 months old and weighs 45 pounds. He will probably weigh in the 60-pound range when fully grown. We are not sure of his breed mixture but think he may have some lab and Doberman in him. Rooster has a great personality and disposition. He loves all of the other rescue dogs, big and small. He loves people and will lie at your feet whenever he can. He loves water and the garden fountain is his favorite spot to hang out and keep cool. Rooster is a very sweet and goofy puppy. He is pretty much house-trained and runs to go outside with his buddies. He will need some leash training and would probably do better with a harness. We have no idea of how he is with cats. Rooster loves to run and play with his dog friends and toys. He may not be suitable for a home with small children because he may knock them over when running and playing. Rooster needs a fully fenced-in and secure yard. He will be a great dog for hiking or going to the dog park. He is an active boy and will run around the yard with a toy in his mouth playing tag with his buddies. He likes to be the leader and have everyone chase him. Rooster would do well either as an only dog or with other dogs. Rooster is a healthy and happy boy. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, (DAPP, Bordatella, rabies, canine influenza), and microchipped. He is receiving monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. Roosters' adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport to Hagerstown MD or Quicksburg VA. Rooster is fostered by our friends at Shaggy Dog Rescue and cannot be transported until after he is adopted. Story
Piper is a real people pup!! She does great with kids. If you're looking for a snuggle buddy, she's your girl. Piper is super sweet and can turn anyone into a dog person in a second. She's affectionate and gives the most gentle hugs and kisses and wants to include you in everything she does. Her toys are your toys! She has no problem sharing. She has a good amount of energy and such a great, outgoing personality. Piper likes zoomies and toy time followed by a good nap. She's game for whatever! As long as she gets to be with you, she's happy. Piper has a rough play style with other dogs which many dogs don't appreciate. She doesn't show very good manners when meeting a dog for the first time but with proper introductions to get another dog used to her, they could end up being great friends. Piper has so much love to give and she will make a person or family so happy!

Christmas wishlist: A forever family! Housebroken, crate trained, leash trained, and such a loving girl! I'm well mannered, super affectionate, and cuddly. My foster mom says I'm the best foster pup she's had and I'm hoping to find my forever family in time for Christmas. My sister and I came to the rescue through no fault of our own (our previous owner passed away). I'm so grateful to be inside where it's warm, filled with toys, and treats. I love taking naps and would do well as an only dog or with doggie siblings. I'm about 70 lbs., super gentle and sweet, and I rarely bark.  Please submit a meet and greet request if you're interested in meeting me! Visit https://www.wtarescue.com/adoption-process-2 to learn about our adoption process! Mandatory in person transfer date: December 22nd at the Petsmart in Tysons Corner between 12:00 PM-1:00 PM. All adopters must attend in order to finalize the adoption ##1871037##

Story
Meet Toby, an approximately 3-year-old, black and tan, male Doberman with a docked tail and natural ears. Toby is the sweetest, most people-friendly Doberman we’ve had the pleasure of fostering. He’s calm in the house, and happiest sitting next to you and getting pets or laying near you while he sucks on his dog blanket. He is a very people-oriented dog. He did well meeting visitors in our house, including an 11-year-old girl. He sleeps quietly through the night in a crate in our bedroom. When we leave the house, Toby is free to roam our finished basement. He leaves shoes alone, has been non-destructive around furniture, and does very well on a set potty schedule. Toby doesn't seem to need a high level of exercise but is always happy to go on walks. He walks well on a leash until he sees squirrels and then he pulls to get closer to them. Because he has a prey drive he may not do well in homes with small pets. He doesn’t really show interest in other dogs while we are out on walks so areas with lots of dogs shouldn't be a problem. Toby travels really well in the car. He curls up on the back seat in our dog hammock, clipped to the seatbelt. He also did very well at his vet visit. Toby is approximately 65 pounds and needs to gain about 10 pounds. We think he will do best as an only dog but he may be ok with another calm dog. Toby has perfected the Doberman lean, as he leans against his foster humans looking for pets. Toby is very loving and is going to make a great companion. Check him out playing in our yard: https://youtube.com/shorts/FG59HM8YqSU?feature=share Toby is fostered in Maryland.
