Perla is an independent feline who will happily approach you when she's ready for pets and playtime. She is also a champion napper who loves to spend her time sleeping in the sun or perched up high where she can keep an eye on her domain. Perla is positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) which can cause weakening of her immune system. FIV positive cats live normal lives for years if cared for and managed appropriately - they just need to be monitored for dental disease and infections. FIV positive cats should also be kept indoors to reduce the spread of infection to other cats though they can live with other cats as long as they don't fight. Diabetic cats require a stable diet of special food and daily shots of insulin to support healthy glucose levels. Once their diabetes is managed, these sweet cats have the same demands as other felines - a cozy bed, regular pets and a sunspot.
