Story
Meet Charlie! Charlie is a strikingly handsome, long-haired black and white gentleman with a big frame and an even bigger heart. This large boy may look impressive at first glance, but one moment with him will show you that he’s all about love, calm, and companionship. Charlie has a gentle, easygoing spirit that makes him a joy to be around. Charlie is affectionate without being demanding. He enjoys being near his people, whether that means lounging nearby, accepting soft pets, or quietly keeping you company during your day. His sweet and patient nature makes him a wonderful companion for a calm household, and he would thrive in a home where he can feel safe, loved, and included. Charlie is fully litterbox trained and does very well with good habits. He’s a polite, well-mannered boy who appreciates a clean, comfortable environment and settles into routines nicely. With his luxurious long fur and soulful eyes, Charlie has a comforting presence that instantly makes a space feel warmer. He’s the kind of cat who brings peace rather than chaos—a true gentle giant who prefers kindness and connection over mischief. Charlie bonds deeply and shows his love in subtle, heartfelt ways. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion with a calm demeanor and a soft soul, Charlie could be the perfect match. He’s ready to find a forever home where he can give and receive the love he deserves. new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/TIP-A-537

Please do not send inquiries. These cats can be visited at PetSmart in Carmel/Westfield (14720 Greyhound Plaza) during store business hours. Applications are available at the store. These are not “cuddlers”. These are young adults that came to us from Indy Neighborhood Cats when they were kittens. They were born feral and we have been working on socialization for months. They do NOT like to be picked up, and allow us to pet them on their terms. But they LOVE playtime with tunnels and cat trees. ADOPTER WILL NEED TO CONTINUE SOCIALIZATION and BE PATIENT. WE WILL ONLY ADOPT THEM AS A BONDED PAIR. Azalea is a sweet girl who will be the first to come out of her shell. She loves attention. But she loves her nightly can of Fancy Feast pate more! This will be the secret to winning both of them over. Larkspur will not let you move him, pick him up, or do anything to him, except pet him sometimes. He was the spiciest kitten when he came to us and hasn't changed much. He does not trust human hands. To trim claws, we do muzzle him. Thanks to another foster cat, Larkspur would come up to us begging for attention while the other foster cat got his daily loving. Larkspur ran off after a few pets. A PetSmart employee also helped with his socialization and now he comes out seeking attention when he gets his nightly canned food. Larkspur needs a covered litter box with no door or he'll overshoot the sides of the litter box. (The litter box in their cage is included with their adoption.) These cats have not been around dogs or small children. We insist on a cat-only household with children over 12. They do great with other cats. Azalea & Larkspur are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV/FeLV and are microchipped. Approximate date of birth is August 21, 2022. Adoption fee = $75 per cat ($150 total)

Story
BinkyIf you go by one of the catios at the front of the HSHC, you are likely to see me sunbathing, snacking, or taking a nap. I have this lovely room to myself as I am not fond of other animals. I`m 9-years-old, spayed, I use the litter box faithfully, I have a healthy appetite, and I am a beautiful, petite, jet black female with a long, lustrous coat. I have my preferences in how I want to live my life. I prefer to be allowed access to the outdoors during the day and welcomed back inside at night. So you could call me an indoor/outdoor kitty. I am a playful girl; my favorite toys are things I can bat around the floor. I have never cared for children, nor do I tolerate other animals in my home. Despite my objections, my owner of eight years preferred to permit those creatures into the house. That is why I was surrendered to the HSHC on March 9, 2025. Good grief! What did the woman expect? She found me as a stray kitten and knew my personality from the beginning. The shelter staff decided I would be happier in a foster home where I could relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the cattery. My foster mom (FM) provided the following updates. It may take me weeks, if not months, to trust, feel comfortable, and relax. Once I felt at home with my FM, I would allow her to pet my head. I would even solicit affection by rubbing against her legs. I loved sleeping in the bed she gave me. I am an excellent user of scratcher boards, scratching poles, and other appropriate surfaces. I was never destructive in my foster home. As a kitten, I may have been disciplined with a hand, because I am fearful of hands coming toward me. I do not enjoy being held, as it is too restraining. The HSHC and my FM agree that I will be happier in a home with adults only and no other pets. They recommend that having calming aids, interactive toys, regular play sessions, and yummy treats will help develop my confidence and sense of security. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by my catio and say hi! 11-26-25

Story
MochaThe interviewer lady (IL) sent a check-up email to my foster mom to see how I was doing. My foster mom (FM) told her that things are pretty much the same as they were in July. You may recall that my owner surrendered me to HSHC because I was terrified of everything! The other cat, the dog, the children, and even the adults frightened me into hiding. Now I am a 9-year-old, black-and-white, DLH female kitty who never learned social graces as a kitten. However, my peace of mind and level of contentment have greatly improved since moving in with FM and family. As you might expect, I continue to despise change. For example, cutting my nails, forcing me into a cat carrier, exposing me to other animals, or small children. I spend most of my time in my bedroom or hiding behind the couch. The exception would be feeling safe enough to join the family in the evening. Things I have learned to love are dinner time, treats(!), belly rubs and brushing sessions with FM. I continue to prefer dry food over wet and plenty of clean, cool water. FM says that I am “a pretty chill cat,” and she knows I want to be relaxed and confident with people. It will take a patient person who understands my fears, who will give me the time and space to settle in. A quiet home, with patient humans, and everyone is 10 or older, is a must. I would appreciate being the only 4-legged family member. FM says I am not a trouble, for sure! 12-14-25

Story
EsmereldaBelieve it or not, I came to the HSHC on December 21, along with 11 other cats, after our owner died. The best thing is, we are all very friendly and lovable, so we’re likely to find new homes quickly. I am 5 years old, with a lovely black-and-white long-haired coat. I’ve been spayed and am litterbox proficient. After checking in, I was examined, and aside from needing to lose a few pounds, I am a healthy, happy kitty. Although none of us are bonded, we all get along well and wouldn’t mind going home together. On December 29, I moved to the Smitten Kitten Cat Cafe (SKCC) and was swiftly named “cat of the week” for my charming personality, gentle nature, affability, and excellent manners. The interviewer lady (IL) woke me from my nap to pet me and take my picture. She learned I truly earned this title! I let her pet me and didn’t mind being woken. The SKCC staff adore me and are sure I’ll find my forever family soon. Remember, my long-haired coat needs regular brushing to prevent mats. I am also eating a diet designed to help me lose weight. Those are the only stipulations I have for going home with you! Happy New Year! 2026 will be a superb year, I can tell. 1-3-26
