Story
Meet Jack. He’s a 4 year old long haired handsome boy. He’s a good boy but he has a fairly short temper with my one year old and we’re struggling with some allergies over here. We’ve had him since he was a kitten. His medical records are up to date. He would probably prefer a home without other cats as he can be a bully but it might just not be a good fit with our current old lady cat (she’s being rehomed as well) He does well with dogs. He loved snuggling with our old girl before she passed in 2024.

Story
Are you looking for a sweet, gentle, fuzzy panther to add to your family? Napoleon might be the cat for you! This 8-year-old kitty came to us in the summer of 2024 from one of our partner rescues here in Maine. He was transferred to HART because he is diabetic, and we have a lot of experience with successfully caring for diabetic cats. His diabetes is currently well-managed with a low-carb, canned food only diet (in our shelter, we feed Fancy Feast Classic Pate), and twice-daily insulin injections. We will require that his adopter has a well-established relationship with a veterinarian, because we are committed to the health and happiness of Napoleon and his new guardians even after they leave our shelter. HART's Medical Team will provide his adopter training in the care of a diabetic cat (it’s easier than you think!), along with a blood-glucose testing kit, a vial of insulin with related supplies, and a generous starter amount of canned food. In order to make these preparations, he won't be able to go home on the same day that you meet him.Napoleon will be a fantastic addition to a family looking for an affectionate, laid-back cat-panion. Meet him in Room 4.Go to our website, www.hartofme.org, to submit your online application today!***FKA = Formerly Known As

Story
Oswald is a very sweet boy who wants to crawl right into your lap. We are guessing he is about 10 years old. He has the cutest big ears and a very soft, brown tabby coat. He came to HART in August after being found as a stray living in a barn. When he first arrived, he was in pretty rough shape, and our Medical Team discovered that he had severely matted fur and significant dental disease, as well as diabetes. Since receiving a dental cleaning with extractions and having the mats shaved, he is feeling much more comfortable and looking so much better! His diabetes is currently managed with a low-carb, canned food only diet (in our shelter, we feed Fancy Feast Classic Pate) and twice-daily insulin injections. We will require that his adopter has an established relationship with a veterinarian. HART's Medical Team will provide his adopters training in the care of a diabetic cat, along with a blood-glucose testing kit, a vial of insulin with related supplies, and a starter supply of canned food. In order to make these preparations, he won't be able to go home on the same day that you meet him.Oswald’s transformation has been remarkable, and he has become a favorite among our volunteers. He is not the biggest fan of some of his feline roommates, so he would probably do best in a single cat household, where he can get all of your attention. He would love to be welcomed into your home and spoiled with all the love that he deserves! Meet this very special boy in Room 4.Go to our website, www.hartofme.org, to submit your online application today!***FKA = Formerly Known As

Story
Charlie is a handsome long-haired cat with a tender heart and a shy soul. He can be cautious around new people and takes some time to warm up—but once he learns to trust you, he’ll show you just how loving he can be. When he feels safe, Charlie transforms into a total cuddlebug who adores curling up on your lap for quiet affection.Charlie’s beautiful coat is currently shaved due to some matting, but it will grow back into a gorgeous long mane with regular grooming. He’ll need a patient, gentle home that can help him keep his coat tangle-free and make him feel secure. With a little time and love, Charlie will reward you with deep loyalty, warmth, and the softest lap snuggles imaginable.Charlie is a little aggressive toward other cats. He likes to pick fights with cats that can not stand up for themselves. We recommend that he is an only cat in the home. We are not sure how he will do with dogs. We have reports that some dogs he is fine with and others, he is not a fan of. Charlie is currently on a medication to help him adjust to the shelter.Go to our website, www.hartofme.org, to submit your online application today!***FKA = Formerly Known As
