Story
Tweety is just the best! He is somehow both playful and calm. He loves to knead a soft blanket and sit at an open window watching the world. He loves to play with almost any toy you try and really gets into pouncing and hunting. Watch your toes as you walk by or lie in your bed! He does sometimes get riled up and may be mildly mouthy (but never bites down hard) to let you know he is done being pet or playing- he is a good communicator, and if you just replace your arm/hand/foot with a toy he seamlessly switches to playing with the appropriate item. One thing he seems to almost ask for is to just be held as you walk around the house. He purrs the whole time.  Tweety came to PAWS with moderate anemia and is on medication to keep him strong and comfortable and regulated. He currently takes a liquid steroid by mouth twice a day to control his condition. Amazingly, he actually likes the medication and barely bats an eye when it is given! Feel free to ask PAWS staff for more information about Tweety's condition, though his day to day care is very easy. Age: 1 year Animal ID#: A180607 &#226&#128&#139I am not at the shelter. Good with cats,
Story
Olly is such a hoot! He's a handsome little floofball whose begun treatment for suspected ringworm at our shelter. He could really use a cat or kitten friend once he's cleared his ringworm treatment, since he's so bouncy and energetic!   He could also use some practice in getting used to brushing, to make sure he's desensitized to much-needed brushing of his long fur while he's still young. Olly is super playful and super excited about pets, and also super excited about the idea of finding a forever home! Ringworm care can actually be a breeze with the right set-up and if you have the time to dedicate to it, but can be a bit tedious since it can spread easily to any living creature and requires some caution to prevent that. Ideally we would love to find a home without any really young kids or other pets, just to limit the risk of exposure, unless the home has enough space to keep everyone fully and safely separated. PAWS provides all of the medications and other treatments needed at our clinic, so please read through the info linked below and if you feel like your home would be a fit you can apply and reach out to us to learn more! Age: ~2 months Animal ID#: A180667 Location: foster care. Please email adoptions@phillypaws.org to set up a time to meet this kitty! **This pet is currently being treated for ringworm, a mild fungal infection of the skin that usually clears up within 6-8 weeks of starting treatment. All the follow-up care we provide for your ringworm pet is free of charge at a PAWS facility while they finish their treatment with you, and we are with you every step of the way! You can learn more about adopting a pet with ringworm here.** **Because this pet isn't yet altered, they are only eligible for adoption via our Pre-Adopt program, which will require an extra verification step as well as a $100 deposit per animal that is fully refunded after their spay/neuter surgeries. Any additional questions about this can be covered when you reach out about them!** _____________________________________ Learn more about PAWS' adoption process, locations, and more at: phillypaws.org/adopt/info or email adoptions@phillypaws.org to learn more.   All animals adopted from PAWS are up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and microchipped. Story
Gaya is a gorgeous older lady with silky long hair and the sweetest soul. She’s the kind of cat who immediately welcomes you home and is always ready to curl up beside you, purring away, or flop into your lap for cuddles. Despite her dignified age, she hasn’t lost her playful spark, and she loves being part of whatever you’re doing. She spends most of her day following her foster parents around the house and settling down just within reach. Gaya thrives on attention and chin scratches, making her a perfect match for someone looking for a gentle, affectionate companion. Her calm and friendly nature means she’s happy to meet new people and will quickly win over anyone who crosses her path. She is a celebrity with guests who come over to her foster's house, as she selects one person each week to jump up on and demand scratches from. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving cat who wants a restful and joyful home in her senior years, Gaya is your perfect match. Gaya recently had a small mammary mass removed from her tummy, the biopsy for which confirmed a fully excised low-grade (stage 1) cancerous mass. There is no evidence of metastasis elsewhere in Gaya's body and no further masses at present, and her quality of life right now is great, so we recommend an adopter monitor her tummy for any future regrowth and keep in touch with a trusted vet to make sure she stays happy and healthy while entering her golden years. Story
Simply a magnificent beast, Sam Vimes is the complete package. A seasoned gentleman, this senior long-haired tuxedo is searching for his perfect fit. He’s a laid back kinda fella, enjoying the finer things like gazing out of the window in his favorite cardboard box and long naps on his crinkle bag. Sam is a lover of toys and does enjoy the power of the hunt! A feather wand toy is his first choice, although he finds amusement in all sorts of toys.  A big ol' teddy bear, Sam has been in longer term foster with two adult humans and enjoys the company of other adult humans. While he's not a fan of dogs, he would likely do well with calm children. Sam is also fantastic babysitter, and his sheer presence has quite the calming effect on crated foster kittens. Sam flawlessly uses the litter box, and provided with scratchers, he happily uses them. He is quite limber for a large cat and grooms himself well, and he also tolerates being brushed. Sam is a diabetic on Bexacat, a chewable pill he takes once in the morning in a small bit of his rx canned food, followed by the remainder of the can. (No insulin!) Sam eats two cans a day, no dry kibble. Come meet this fancy gentleman and you're sure to fall in love! Sam is a Care Package kitty! This means when he gets adopted, he can go home with 3 months' worth of his medication! Our kitty adoption fee is $250. This includes the kitties shots/negative feline leukemia & FIV aids test and vaccine/spay or neuter/worming and flea and tick protections AS WELL AS TRANSPORT to your area! Story
Yes, that's right, her name is really It's OK Silky. She was scared the first time she went to the vet, so they kept telling her "It's OK Silky." Her right eye is a little cloudy, which is why she was scared at the vet. She doesn't behave any differently from other cats because of her eye. She is cautious at first, but very sweet after she gets to know you. You can hold her and she may turn into a lap cat after she adjusts to a new home. She is a gorgeous, long haired black beauty. She was born in July 2024. She has been spayed & is up to date on her vaccinations. This animal is being fostered in the South but transport to a location near you is included in your adoption fee. We use Rescue Riders Pet Transport, (www.rescueridersllc.net), the most animal-friendly transport on the road.
