Story
Loretta is a gorgeous tuxedo cat. She loves being around humans and loves to be pet. She was very shy for the first week, but has grown to love and ask for petting sessions several times a day. The moment you rub her neck, she will start purring instantly and loud. She likes to put her nose close to your nose. She loves being around us while we work, and while we sleep. She has developed a cute habit of hanging out by and on top of our feet at night. Like all ACR cats, Loretta has been treated for fleas and parasites. Loretta's littermate passed away from feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), which is caused by a mutation of a common coronavirus. Further information can be found here: https://annexcatrescue.ca/coronavirus/ Loretta was likely exposed to coronavirus as well and, although she is healthy and symptom free, her brother's passing indicates that she may be at a slightly higher genetic risk of developing FIP over her lifetime.Loretta must be adopted as a buddy to a friendly resident cat.

Story
Introducing Her Royal Highness, the Grand Duchess Anastasia. This fluffy former colony-cat reigns supreme over her indoor kingdom, spending countless hours sleeping or lounging while binge-watching "Bird TV" from her throne (the couch). While her subjects may long for a royal snuggle, Anastasia prefers to keep her distance - with an aversion to physical contact that would make even the most aloof monarch proud. While she does not swat or bite, Anastasia does regularly hiss. But her hisses serve as a reminder of her boundaries, telling all who dare to encroach upon her sovereignty that she is not to be trifled with. We admire a lady who speaks her mind. When not busy issuing decrees, Anastasia engages in charitable work, and is a patron of the bread bank - kneading away on her favourite sweater. She also enjoys climbing her cat tower to gaze upon her kingdom and royal subjects. In the middle of the night, Anastasia emerges from her royal chambers to chase balls and spring toys. She also finds joy in the humble cardboard scratcher, a simple scratching post, and cat dancers. Anastasia seeks an experienced adopter of royal caliber - one who appreciates her independent spirit and respects her boundaries. While she may not grant the gift of pets or cuddles, her willingness to share her space speaks volumes of her generous spirit. She will require much patience and understanding as she acclimates to her new domain and in time will grace her chosen companion with the privilege of her presence, basking in their company from a distance. For those with the wisdom to accept her on her own terms, Anastasia promises a companionship as unique and cherished as the crown jewels themselves.Anastasia has mild tartar and will likely need a dental cleaning in 2025. She is negative for FIV and FeLV. Like all ACR cats, Anastasia has been treated for fleas and parasites.

Story
Duffy is a fluffy tortoise shell cat that is looking for a home with a lot of love and patience. Duffy can be super shy and cautious, hiding away at the beginning. However, with a few months of steady routine and lots of patience to earn her trust, she can be turn into a loyal and needy love bug, rewarding you with loud purrs, trills, and asking for extensive scritching sessions. She can even be talkative, loudly joining in conversations or singing to music. Her current foster believes that she could even open up further with the right home. While she could come around to being affectionate, she is still very shy and easily startled, so she is suited to a quiet home with not much action.Duffy is fine with children given that they know when to give her space. She has a tendency to swat, which is usually only a light slap without claws in most cases, but could scratch if she's disturbed while she's napping or perched at a window sill. Therefore she may not be suitable for a home with young children.Duffy is negative for FIV and FelV. Like all ACR cats, she has been treated for fleas and parasites.Check out a video of Duffy opening up for cuddles by following this link: https://vimeo.com/937974587?share=copy

Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
DOB: January 29, 2020 Please note, this is a posting through the Courtesy Adoption Program. Please contact the current owner directly for more details. Their details are below. Quinn requires a very experienced & extremely patient owner who does not have small children or any other pets in the home. Quinn is almost 3 years old and was saved from a home of abuse, which has left her with PTSD. She is very affectionate, sweet and cuddly. When we first met Quinn, she was anxious and easily triggered into extremely violent outbursts. As a result, she has been prescribed medication. The medication has been working well with managing her PTSD and she is easy to medicate. She takes 1 pill every 24 hours in the evening with her dinner and we have not had any further bouts of aggression since. She is currently being cared for in a home with other cats, which inhibits her ability to make more progress. She does not do well with other animals. It has taken us a few months to get to a point where Quinn fully trusts us. Once she does trust you, she turns into the most loving and loyal cat ever. She loves to snuggle on top of her humans with her face pressed right against yours, and will paw at you for more attention. She is also quite expressive and will announce everything she does with copious amounts of trills, chirrups, and chirps. Despite not being the most coordinated with general cat toys, she is incredibly agile with trapping her wand toys and the laser dot. Her favourite pastimes include; snuggling, lengthy brush sessions, laser dot hunting, and watching the world outside from the safety of her cat tree. Oh, and she has a thing about sniffing feet - it’s kinda like her version of a handshake. This is not a case for the faint of heart. If you are courageous, experienced, and looking to help save a life, having Quinn at her best will be an incredible reward. Quinn is participating in our Courtesy Adoption Posting Program and is not the property of Toronto Cat Rescue. Toronto Cat Rescue does not accept responsibility for any pet placements that result from this service. If you need more info or would like to adopt please contact Jordan at jordan.g.rinaldi@gmail.com Thank you!

Story
Microchipped, DOB: Aug. 8, 2017 Zara is a beautiful and energetic kitty that has been friendly and curious from the first moment she arrived at her foster home. She enjoys pets, brushing and stretchy belly rubs. While Zara is super friendly, she does enjoy quiet time occasionally but she can’t resist being away from her humans for too long. Zara also loves to explore new spaces the second she’s in them. You’ll find her checking out every corner of your home. She’s great with kids but if you have lots of small toys lying around you’ll just want to keep an eye on them as she likes to give them an exploratory chew. Zara’s litter box habits are great and she will tolerate being picked up, but she’ll be a little squirmy in the process. Her foster family has fallen in love with her and think she’ll make anyone looking for a new best friend very happy!

Good with cats,
Story
DOB: Janurary 24th, 2016 Toki is a sweet, easy going and solidly built senior boy with a young soul. He has beautiful orange and white fur and a curled, wispy tail. He loves to use his soft voice to greet and check in on those around him. His meow sounds like a friendly and drawn out “helloooo”! A social butterfly, Toki gets excited when guests come over and he gets along with other cats. He is routine oriented and spends every morning lying in a sunny spot on the floor. Later, he’ll switch to curling up on a big comfy chair. Sometimes, he likes sitting on the very edge of the bed at night while his humans watch a show. However, he is more than happy to break his routine with a scratch on the cheeks or under the chin, a big belly rub or some grooming with a brush. Sometimes he gets big bursts of energy and runs all around the house. He also loves to play, especially if it involves jumping on his hind legs to capture something up high. His quirks include crossing his paws like a gentleman and staring at you quizzically when his lip gets stuck on his tooth. So cute. Toki requires medicine twice a day for hyperthyroidism but doesn’t put up a fuss when taking it.

Good with cats,
Story
DOB: August 28th, 2023 Carlo Rossi is a very special boy that is looking for his forever home. Despite being completely blind, he is a very outgoing, social little guy that is full of energy and life. He likes interactive, noisy toys that stimulate his other senses. He currently loves his squeaky mice and crinkly balls. He also loves to play with ribbons and wand toys. He also adores playing inside of his cat tunnel. Carlo would thrive in a home where someone can be around most of the day to provide him with attention and stimulation. Since he can't see, he should be in a smaller space, such as an apartment, where he can easily navigate his surroundings. He needs a safe and secure environment with no stairs or potential hazards that can hurt him. His adopter should be aware that since he can't see where he's going, he will follow you around and walk right in front of your path without realizing it. He will require more patience and caution during playtime as he often misses while swatting at his toys. Carlo can get bored easily, so he would thrive in the company of another friendly cat. However, because he is still so young and playful, he would do well with a younger cat that can match his energetic and playful temperament. Carlo is looking for a patient and understanding owner who can accommodate his special needs. He needs someone who will provide him with love, care, and guidance as he navigates his new life. Unfortunately Carlo required surgery to have both eyes removed when he came into our care. He may require a follow-up surgery at some point, and if that's the case, the cost of this procedure will be covered by Toronto Cat Rescue.

Story
*******************************************************************************************Shaggy is part of a bonded pair and MUST be adopted with his partner, Scooby.******************************************************************************************* ***AT SHELTER*** "Zoinks! Where am I?" wondered Shaggy the cat.And just like that, Shaggy, along with his long-time best friend Scooby, found himself at the front door of EHS early one frosty morning. This handsome, long-haired tabby boy has likely been through a lot in his short life, however, his past is now behind him as he looks to brighter days ahead. As he waits to meet his perfect family, this sweet boy is busy watching the comings and goings around him with his loyal companion Scooby at his side. Once a detective, always a detective. Right, Shaggy?Shaggy is really starting to come out of his shell. He may greet you with a momentary hiss, but this guy is just so sweet-he's really a cuddle bug. He has become much more accepting of pets by hand, and now seems to truly enjoy his one-on-one time with our dedicated volunteers and Scooby, even purring and chirping to show his pleasure! Shaggy certainly does enjoy his "Scooby snacks," wet food being his preference, and let's not forget the occasional tube treat (either on or off a spoon).  Shaggy would like you to know that he wants to spend the rest of his life with Scooby, so they will need to be welcomed as a pair. Given his gentle disposition, it is likely that he would thrive in a quiet environment where he can enjoy all the good things life has to offer-safety, food, and above all, love. His preferences regarding other feline companions other than Scooby is unknown. This is a mystery yet to be solved. Are you ready to add sweet Shaggy and Scooby to your family? They're just waiting to meet their perfect match. Could they be the ones to pull at your heart strings? You'll only find out if you drop by to meet them. You never know, you could be in for adventures of your own!--------------------The adoption fee for a single cat at EHS is $175. Take home an adult feline friend for your kitty and the adoption fee for the pair is $300! For kittens under six months of age, the adoption fee is $200...or, double your cuteness quotient and adopt two wee furballs for $350! If you mix and match (kitten plus cat), the adoption fee is $300. Each of our cats is spayed/neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, snap tested for FIV/FeLV, dewormed, and flea treated prior to adoption. Kittens are not spayed or neutered until 5 months of age, but the cost of spay/neuter will be covered as part of the adoption.--------------------Interested in adopting Shaggy? It's easy! Just click "Adopt a Cat" on the EHS website (etobicokehumanesociety.com) and fill out our "Cat Adoption Form."  An EHS representative will be pleased to help.
