Story
The name of the game is PLAY, and Jesse is all in! Stunningly beautiful and full of personality, this friendly girl is just over one year old and absolutely loves to stay busy. She’s bursting with energy and could happily spend hours running around and chasing wand toys - daily playtime is a must, or she’ll definitely let you know she’s bored! When Jesse does slow down, she enjoys lounging on a chair topped with a plush blanket. She’s also a big fan of cat TV and loves watching birds at the feeder through the window. Food-wise, she’s a big fan of pate-style wet food and, of course, Churu treats. Looking for privacy? Not with Jesse! She’ll happily run in to greet you first thing in the morning, even if you’re in the bathroom, chirping and chatting away like she has lots to say. Jesse will need a bit of time to settle into a new environment, but once she’s comfortable, she’s incredibly easy-going, and you will be rewarded with warm sessions of loving slow blinks! Jesse allows her humans to pick her up for nail trims, brushing her gorgeous fur and teeth, and sneaking in a few cuddles. Jesse does have asthma and requires daily inhalers, which she tolerates very well. Jesse is growing more confident with each passing day. She thrives in a calm, loving home and settles in beautifully with both people and other animals. Jesse appreciates soft voices and easygoing movements, and she loves having the freedom to come over and say hello when she’s ready. When given that space, her affectionate and charming personality truly shines. Jesse would do best in a quieter home without small children. She may do well with a calm, gentle dog who won’t chase her, but she MUST have another friendly cat to play with - having a cat buddy is non-negotiable for this playful girl. Jesse came to us as a stray, so her early history is unknown. What we do know is that she’s now ready to find her forever home at last. If you have plenty of time for play, patience while she settles in, and a heart open to an energetic, affectionate girl, Jesse will show you how amazing she is! This sweet girl is so fun to watch and listen to and will keep you entertained for hours on end. Your endless sessions of slow blinks with Jesse await the perfect home!

Story
Klaus is coming to town!Fittingly, Klaus arrived at EHS from a municipal animal shelter during the Christmas season. Similarly to his namesake Santa, Klaus is described as having a big, bold personality and is ready to settle down in a place to call home.ABOUT KLAUS- In foster- Having once lived as a stray on the streets, Klaus is cautious when it comes to new people and environments. A big fan of the slow approach, he appreciates those who take the time to get to know him through gentle communication and soft blinks. If he feels unsafe, he will hiss and swat.- Once he is comfortable, he loves a few head and chin scritches with the back-scratcher.- He loves to snuggle in his kennel in the shelter but also to survey the world around him while resting on top of his cat tree.- Klaus has FIV, which is a virus that weakens the immune system of a cat but is not transmissible to humans or other species.- He is a skittish cat who has had minimal experience with humans.- He is currently enrolled in EHS’s socialization program, where dedicated volunteers are working to help him become more comfortable around people.- Klaus is neutered, microchipped, dewormed, flea-treated, SNAP-tested for FIV/FeLV, and is up to date on core vaccinations.KLAUS’ IDEAL HOME- Klaus would prefer to be the only cat of the household.- Klaus does not require medication but vet checkups twice a year are recommended.- Cats who have FIV can live just as long as other cats if they are properly cared for with a good diet, an indoor home, and a loving family. - A skittish cat, like Klaus, will benefit from a calm, quiet environment, preferably without small children.- Potential adopters should be prepared to commit the time, effort, and patience required to help Klaus settle into his new environment. EHS will provide post-adoption support to assist Klaus with a successful transition to his forever home.Always nice and sometimes naughty, Klaus is ready to retire his past life and start again in time for the new year. If you’re ready to give Klaus his second chance, apply to adopt him today. If you have any questions about Klaus or the adoption process, please contact cats@etobicokehumanesociety.com

Story
Microchipped, DOB August 22, 2021 If there’s one thing Marlowe truly loves, it’s other cats. He is happiest snuggled up with his brothers, often stretched out on the couch with them completely relaxed; when they are around, Marlowe feels especially secure and will even lounge around with his belly exposed. While he loves to snuggle on the couch with his brothers, he also loves to play, be it the turbo chaser, a box with some tissue in it, or a paper bag. Marlowe came from a hoarding situation, so it took him some time to learn that humans can be trusted, but since moving into foster care, he has shown himself to be quite gentle and calm. However, he is still shy, but in a very specific way - he’s curious about people and wants to be near them, he just doesn’t want to be touched. When someone reaches out to pet him, he reacts more out of confusion and mild objection than fear, as if worried you might be giving him cooties. That said, when Echo is being petted, Marlowe sometimes joins in, clearly enjoying it while still unsure how to feel about human hands. He’s confident enough to hang out and observe the household, often watching everything from a comfortable “safe spot." While Marlowe isn’t a lap cat and can’t be picked up, he does enjoy sleeping near you. With patience, gentle respect for his boundaries, and another friendly feline companion in his adoptive home (which is a must), Marlowe will thrive. He would be absolutely thrilled to be adopted with one of his brothers, Echo or Pheonix.

Story
Microchipped, DOB: January 12, 2021 Emperor is a friendly, lovable guy who starts to purr as soon as you give him pets. He will also purr while his beautiful soft coat is being brushed and even likes to be picked up cradled like a baby! He is cat who is a source of endless cuddles and affection. Emperor loves playing with toys including balls, wands and even the dancing fish. He's also a good eater (wet and dry, he's not picky) and loves treats, especially if it comes in a tube. He uses his litter box properly. Emperor gets along well with the human members foster family of all ages. He lives up to his name and is truly the king of his castle; he however isn't a fan of his foster family's resident cat, so he'd do best in a household where he's the only cat. Emperor came to us when he developed a dangerous urinary blockage but fortunately, he was treated on time and has since recovered fully. Due to this history, Emperor needs to eat an exclusive urinary diet from the vet to keep him healthy and happy. Special note from Emperor's foster family: Emperor would love the chance to join a household where he will get lots of love and affection - and he will give it back!

Story
Jimmy is a handsome, black, long-haired boy. He is the other half of the Riff/Jimmy duo. Jimmy’s backstory is that both he and Riff were living outside of a colony in the north of Toronto and had been fed by a caring member of the public for their entire life. Their feeder was leaving Toronto and needed to be retrieved from their colony, as there was no replacement feeder for them to turn to.Jimmy is the more outgoing of the twosome; his morning routine is to approach his human while they are lying in bed so that he can have his head and back scratched, enticing them to get out of bed so that he can get breakfast. Like Riff, they both dislike being picked up. He and Riff will play with the other cats in their foster home, running back and forth playing a game of chase.Jimmy has idiopathic epilepsy, which means that he sometimes has seizures that have no identifiable cause. He has been evaluated by a neurologist and does not currently require medication to manage his condition, but he may in the future. Potential adopters will need to take Jimmy in for annual rechecks with a neurologist to monitor his condition. Jimmy has also had a surgery called an FHO (femoral head ostectomy). After his neurological episode, he was limping on his left back leg and was seen by a vet, where x-rays were performed. The X-rays showed advanced femoral head necrosis. Since the surgery, he is no longer limping and has a full range of motion in his back leg. Jimmy is neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped. He is FIV & feline leukemia negative. He has also had his teeth cleaned at the end of September 2024.Jimmy is meal-fed twice a day; he is accustomed to this method of feeding and will eat his entire meal when it is offered. He is larger than his brother Riff, but still has a healthy body weight. He says he looks bigger because of all the fluff. Jimmy is an adorable and lovely guy, and he loves his brother Riff greatly. They will make a great addition to a patient adopter and, with time, will learn to trust and bond with their human even more so.
